In the United States 81% of incumbent representatives get re-elected because of gerrymandering. 9% more are re-elected because of the name recognition they already have and the fact that they have free mail service. Even in First World countries voters largely base their choice on false promises or misguided manifestos, and people are incredibly uneducated (Although it's not really as if there are any good parties). The turnout for the past election was only around 50%, which is just terrible. It's obviously not as bad as the situation in SA, but it's still a big problem.

In the United States 81% of incumbent representatives get re-elected because of gerrymandering. 9% more are re-elected because of the name recognition they already have and the fact that they have free mail service. In other words, only 10% of the House of Representatives changes every year.

Don't go to the States buddy, trust me. Just as many messed up people live there. And god, please if you do go to the states do NOT go to California, so many drug addicts, thugs, prostitutes, unless you are into that sort of thing ;) But anyway, I was born in South Africa and moved because the ANC is horrible. I moved to Canada, Canada is nice, it is a non violent country, but. There are some bad kids, that weren't raised right, because frankly. North Americans don't know how to raise kids.

I hate countries that supposedly "help" those countries in need. The whole world helped the blacks during apartheid. Now it is reverse apartheid and the white people are oppressed. Where is the help? The governments of other countries know, but just don't do anything, because everyone for some reason thinks that blacks can't be racist. they just let them get away with it! The only thing stopping the ANC from killing whites completely is because other countries "might" get involved.
