@Sound5killer Recall that Ichimaru doesn't even bother with Shikai except to amuse himself with stunts. He constantly throws things - sleeves etc - as distractions to antagonize Hitsugaya. When he overwhelms Hitsugaya with speed, he doesn't once attempt a lethal attack.

Ichimaru soundly defeated Hitsugaya in this battle, and he didn't even take it seriously. Like another commenter said, only HItsugaya fanboyism keeps people insisting Hitsugaya is anything but weak and annoying.
