  • I want this video on my A760 unit.

  • this has so much meaning for me and others, it needs to be heard more now,1971 i first heard it, must of been one of the first (in melb, vic oz)(in a bus from sunshine/altona)

  • Used to listen to this alot! Such fine music with only a few instruments and all the musicians do their part with skill & pleasure!

  • Your video went viral on Belmopan

  • an excellent mantra.

  • wow this takes me back to high school. i agree with mangled bizarre. what has happened to rock and roll? thanks for this great upload.

  • Thanks Again :) QC

  • @inkey2

The military draft in the U.S. tapered off in '72 and ended in January 1973.

  • I was 10 years old when this song was in heavy radio rotation in NYC - brings back fond memories of my youthful innocence from 'back in the days"….I definitely appreciate the lyrics MORE now than then thats for sure! Great song that NEVER gets old.

  • Wish I lived in 72, with all the good music at the time, for ex: School's out, Go All The Way, Listen To The Music, Layla, Long Cool Woman, and lots lots more :)

  • @MrJALISCO1001 oh wow...all thise songs you mentioned really take me back to high school......some bitter/sweet memories

  • @inkey2 yeah real good times.......for ever 70's

  • "Blocked in some countries by a bunch of cunts." best video description ever!!!!

  • Gawd this takes me back..... 1972!!! oooof

  • perfect song blessings to all

  • Russ Ballard in his is day way aa doll! I wouldn't have kicked hiim out of my bed Ohhh, sorry!

  • Cunts indeed...

  • This song is too cool. Whatever happened to rock n roll?

  • This song was popular in 1972 when I was drafted. For me, it was like Argent was singing directly to me. This song helped me through a difficult time, thanks, Rod!

  • @SloTom I assume you are an American......how did you get drafted in 1972??? I thought the draft in the USA ended in 72. By the time I graduated from high school in 1972 there was no draft.

  • @inkey2 Wrong, I had to register in January 1973 , and I had to go before the draft committee, for eligibility..

  • @panzerfaust54 I had to register in april of 1972 when I turned 18.....I even remember my draft number was 135.......so you were actually drafted into the military in 1973....?????

  • @inkey2 In january they sent me a draft notice,I had already joined the navy, and I was at sea at the time, how weird..

  • Saw them in Nottingham University around this time. My mate was the entertainments organiser for the Students Union. The band had to play this twice so they could do an encore :) Rod Argent and Russ Ballard came to the bar after to spend some time with us. Great guys!

  • you can totally tell he used to be in the zombies

  • "Uriah Heep" did a cover in 1989

  • (language, please, yah? thx)

most excellent tune, great time to be living, too, remember it well

  • Love it :)

  • Made when Classic Rock was just getting it's legs. The trouble with ARGENT is this: They only had this one hit, and then,POOF, they disappeared. What happened? Please tell me.

  • I swear... Rod Argent plays some of the most unique intervallic harmonies in this song. You'd believe he was trained by organ Martians! Damn, modality rarely appears in hit songs, but that's Rod for you - always kicking it higher and making it not only belong -- but owning it. Kudos, Mr. Argent!

  • Hey can anyone name a certain song that goes "He's a saxophone player etc..." I can't remember anymore. But if anyone could help out I would be extremelely grateful. Thank You.

  • Free the music!!!!

  • hold your head high

  • yet again stunning

  • haven't heard this song since the mid 70's in me dads ford cresta on his 8 track, brilliance.

  • Thank you for this awesome post!!!!!!!

  • The only bands that could cover this song are from the 70`s & they are Judas Priest & Scorpions .

  • @LordGandor3 Jellyfish used to do an awesome job on this song in concert. True to the original as well.

  • Like comment if you think this is vid is

  • The particular bass that Jim Rodford plays here Chris White used to record at least part of the Zombies' album Odessey and Oracle.

  • Good music is always good. Complexly simple and strong. A nice band. I will always love it.

  • : P only discovred this song a few weeks ago, so glad I did, it's like it was meant for me!!! I still feel like the world is against me and Im now in my mid twenties! HOLD YOUR HEAD UP HIGGGHHH!!!!

  • I notice the devil voted thrice.

    Or 1 in 100 people are a-holes.

    L.O.L.

    If you read this.....

    I will......

  • seeing them at the robin in wolvo tonight

  • Saw them last night in Southampton - original line up - Ballard looks like he's 30 not 65 . Talent oozes from these guys - no egos either - tanks for a great night.

  • i was 12 when it was released ...what a great song.. thanks for this :)

  • A rare treasure--thanks for posting!

  • music business bullshit copywrite infringement

  • @pyecat

    /watch?v=QsG5V-o6uxY

God Gave Rock and Roll to you !

  • @pyecat

    /watch?v=QsG5V-o6uxY

    ;)

  • I love this band. I got to see them in the '70's and what a great time I will never forget, in spite of all the beer!

  • Thanks for posting this George.!!! xx

  • Rod Argent is the of the most underrated musical geniuses ever!

  • @kingcherub you are so right!

  • I keep this song in mind everyday at school. BURN YOUR EYES STARING AT ME CAUSE I DON'T CARE =)

  • This song got me through a lot of difficult times in my early 20's. I wish I could thank these guys for such an inspirational and motivating song.

  • I like at 3:04 when the keybordest almost slams there head into the organ.

  • Are these guys still around? there amazing..

  • @KISSarmyist The keyboardist was from the Zombies.. the Zombies still tour and they play this song... saw them last night and these guys STILL ROCK!!!

  • Hammond A100.

  • One of those songs that instantly sticks with you.

Check out the message on the bass guitar: Looks like it says "This Is A Piano" LOL

  • I'm so happy The Zombies had disbaned and Rod formed this band, it's absolutely brilliant, sadly underrated.

  • @Eldryzif Zombies still tour and they play Argent songs too!

  • it kind of sounds like running with the devil at the beginning GREAAT SONG

  • THIS song is too good for words.. ; ) xx

  • Great tune. Great message. Thanks for posting. .Takes me back...

  • this song rocked it's generation,it had so much passion, we used to chant this in the disco's at the top of our voices, the time was so so sweet.

  • what countries blocked it and why???

  • Russ Ballard is blind in his right eye. That's why you always see him with dark glasses. He got hit in his eye when he was a kid.

  • This song really summs up 1972. it has a motering theme about it. love ths tune.

  • I was 17 when this came out, and I couldn't stop playing it either, in fact I still have the 7" vinyl in its original sleeve, along with about 240 others I bought during the 1970s.. Brilliant stuff, and as someone else has already said, a song which unwittingly built a lot of confidence for not very confident teenagers of the day, including yours truly..

  • And if it's bad Don't let it get you down, you can take it And if it hurts Don't let them see you cry, you can take it Hold your head up, hold your head up Hold your head up, hold your head high And if they stare Just let them burn their eyes on you moving And if they shout Don't let them change a thing what you're doing Hold your head up, hold your head up Hold your head up, hold your head high
  • this song just makes me feel good all over, classic summer tune, brings me back to the 70's

  • classic tune

  • Love this song still sends shivers down my spine OOh nice feelings of the 70s.

  • God I love this song! Why is it blocked elsewhere? That's such silly bullshit!

  • @KarmicOmen its cuz the song is wayyyy to awsum

  • @KarmicOmen MICHAEL TSARION IS THE WORLDS PREMIER CONSPIRACY RESEARCHER/LECTURER/AUTHOR. DR. BILL DEAGLE, LEO ZAGAMI, JORDAN MAXWELL AND ALEXANDRE DUMAS PERE ARE HIGHLY INFORMATIVE AS WELL. P.S. MELTING EUPHORIA IS SIMILAR TO OZRIC TENTACLES AND GONG.

  • @KarmicOmen

Agreed but why do they block certain videos in the USA and not elsewhere?

  • @Kelski1998

I don't have any control over blocking videos -- that's YouTube; not individual users.

  • @KarmicOmen Youtube is blocked in China--as is songs that Chinese government don't like.

  • ahhhhh...lsd where did you go !!!!!

  • Man i rocked to this, was it really that long ago, seems like i just turned around and all the happy faces turned SAD.

  • Fuck yeah!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ahhhh remember jamming this way back in the 70's...good memories!

  • In PERU y listenARGENT in school good tmes como quisiera que el tiempo regrese -VICTOR de san juan de miraflores

  • This song creeped me out when I was little, just the backround music was sinnister

  • High school days. Love this song. Lots of happy memories thanks STatawღღღღღ

  • Lazy hazy days of summer of 72. This was the song for me that summer and Long Cool Woman by Hollies. 10 years old in the back seat of my parents 65 Oldsmobile on our trip cross country. Simple less uptight era so very very long ago now.

  • Silly me. I've heard this song on classic rock stations for over 15 years and all this time I could have sworn it was a Styx song. I feel silly indeed.

  • buffspringfield, you are dead right.Saw the Zombies doing this on Thursday night....excellent

  • hey sassy I am 60 and still love it, we never get old.

  • Buffspringfield: Nobody, never, nowhere, in no way coulda compare with us. Thanks God we've got well-planted the REAL R&R seed in this gloomy, lame, retard gangsta-rappa-hippahoppa poor world...

    ¡Cheers!

  • I never get tired of listening to this song I'm 46 and my 12 year old son loves it too.

  • Your son is lying to you! You sure he doesnt want an XBOX 360 for Christmas??? J/k

  • It's amazing how the music has such a dark sound, yet the message is so positive! A paradox, but a wonderful one! Love the song!!!

  • Great great song... Whoo!!!!!

  • This was on a sampler vinyl, which my cousin had. He was a Teenager, I was much younger. But never forgot these song on it. (Also T-Rex, Golden Earing, Melanie and so on). Great time!

  • Yes it was a GREAT Time! High 5!

  • Makes my day when this is played at work!

  • Such an amazing song i looooooooooooooooooooooove the organ it is so cool.

  • One of the best songs I heard as a kid...never forgot about it...still love it 30 years later!!!

  • I remember 1972 very well, was a Junior graduating to Senior in high school. Great song this was and still is. ;)

  • I think I was very impressionable in my early teens and wow did this song "imprint" on me in a big way, LOL!

I never get tired of listening to it. "Hold your head up, hold your head high" was not bad advice for a young teen with absolutely no personal confidence.

  • Ditto!

  • @sbarr10 Top comment mate!

  • @sbarr10 would argent be a good influence for a power metal band to have?

  • @sbarr10 well said. I felt the same way.

  • Magical!

  • if you were an alien from outer space and came to this planet you would think Argent only had this one song.

  • Great song. It reminds me of my high school days.

  • His name is Rod Argent. He was leader of the Zombies in the 60's.

  • @djmom2 lol, his name is the last one you should be forgetting.

  • @djmom2 Rod Argent of the Zombies

  • @djmom2 The name of the keyboadist is Rod Argent....along with Russ Ballard on guitar and producer Chis White were the Zombies a decade earlier

  • Cool song and a wonderful blast from the past

  • Was this not the greatest music , no fakes like today

  • is the bass player Geezer Butler? 'Cause he looks A LOT like Geezer

  • The bass player is Jim Rodford previously in The Kinks and The Swinging Blue Jeans.

  • @Pusfan Jim Rodford was also a cousin of Rod Argent's.

  • I was always intrigued by that guitar that looked like a piece of Emmentaler.

  • This is GREAT!!! Thanks for POSTING!!!!

  • Great song, great band!
