Natives are the first to fight for our great country. Natives have the highest armed forces members of any minority. McCain has done more for natives in Arizona than all the other 40+ states who don't give a damn about natives as there are no reservations there. Native sovereinty=socialism=poverty. Socialism does has not worked for 100+ years in a capitalist society. Any Native issues Senator McCain fights for 40+ states ignore.

Well...Native American's thought so to, but look what happened to us. We still believe that. I think the problem IS the colonist think they have rights to be in the same place where we already where and are now.

McCain's argument is not logical. We ARE sovereign Nation's otherwise there could have never been treaties.

@honeybeaful...I do believe whites had a right to come here, but not to act like there was no one here when they got here....look Ireland and or Scotland those people have been taken over and kicked off so many times it makes north america look like a picnic...and I am mixed native and white blood so I have learned to look at the issue from the perspective of human rights as opposed to races...this guy is plainly ignorant of that! I disagree, North America was no "picnic" for the millions dead because of the blatant and total disregard of colonials. A people who thought they had some "manifest destiny" to kick other people off their lands.

Kennewick Man is being used, not as scientific debate but a political one. Politicians would love nothing better to say, but you immigrated too. No matter how totally irrelevant it is or was to what was established when they came and claimed something not theirs at all.

As to Ireland and Scotland, their nations history is their own and to bring them into a wholly Indigenous American debate does injustice to all their people. You can not play a game of who had what worse just so you can give a platform to ignore what one ethnic group is saying, has said, and did say. American politicians have a historic and long held goal of a) dissolving Indigenous government. b) being able to have absolute control over Indigenous land. c) abolishing cultures that are not "American" d) not having to deal with any nations inside of America that have rights, but are not states.

@honeybeaful as to whether that is true or not I doubt that very much...I think they have a history of disolving all cutlures for the sake of lining the pockets of the top 5% who own the banks,corporations and what ever else they own it isn't about 1 group of people being oppressed and it never was...it has always been the entire world under oppression for the sake of the few lined their pockets at the exspense of the rest...whether it is that to you or not is irrelevant!

@honeybeaful in your opinion I know little about it...I can see the truth I realize that most natives are very anti european and thus have a biased history telling...I have tried to read it from their perspective it had such a one sided slant to it I quit as I thought it was nothing but a pile of propeganda...when they told the truth in one area they failed to tell it in another...I suppose we all have a slant to some extent and we all think the other guys side of the story is a lie! cheers

You know what, history is history, if it seems to you that it is "anti-european" when it is being told by university historians then perhaps the problem lies with your inability to recognize what the truth really is.

But , what I am really talking about is today's reality. So many of these "public" lands these politicians talk about either belong to a tribe or would effect a tribe's livelihood or well-being. Some of them have been bought back by the nation and put into trust.
