Since the day of Pentecost and the subsequent conversion of the Samaritans, followed by Paul becoming the Apostle to the Gentiles and his doctrine of the Grafted Olive Branch, for nearly 200 years the interpretation of ALL Christianity has been that John 10:16 refers to Gentiles, not America, or Africa or Asia or Australia.
"And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd."
Yes, I have. 2x as a matter of fact. I do not recall where in the BoM, but as you are aware, your faith is not based solely on the BoM. Here is something from The Doctrine and Covenants, one of the four sacred books of Mormonism states, "Christ, the Firstborn, was the mightiest of all the spirit children of the Father". That does not support the Biblical version of Jesus, an honest view will see Mormons believe in a different Jesus. Even your prv. prophet Hinckley has said it himself.
hcard, the quote you give is actually not from the Doctrine and Covenants.
This is why I encourage people to do first-hand research, rather than relying on the blogs and websites that criticize the LDS Church. They have tons of inaccuracies. In this case, sourcing quotes incorrectly.
President Hinckley said, "For the Christ of whom I speak has been revealed in this the dispensation of the fullness of times."
Lovely video, but the "appendages" in Mormonism is what divides mainstream Christians and Mormons. The Jesus of the Bible is not the same of the Mormon Scripture. If they were the same, we would not have this division.
I am so sorry, I didn't know you responded. I was just checking out my youtube and finally saw your response. Here is a couple of points: Jesus was born of the virgin Mary, please see: Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1:23. Versus the following: "The birth of the Saviour was as natural as are the births of our children; it was the result of natural action. He partook of flesh and blood - was begotten of his Father, as we were of our fathers," (Journal of Discourses, vol. 8, p. 115). There additional
You just quoted the opinion of a church leader (key word being opinion).
I asked if you could quote scriptures from the Book of Mormon and the Bible. Instead, you quoted scriptures from a book that Mormons do not consider to be official doctrine.
Leaders of any church can have their own opinions. That doesn't make it binding doctrine on the members.
Again, have you ever read the Book of Mormon in its entirety?
This looks very white. Why is Jesus and everybody in these illustrations have to look so extremely Anglo Saxon? If you want to convince people with this you should be more realistic that Jesus and the people of the time did not look like white suburban people in robes. Israelites were people of color and they did not have blue eyes and red hair!
