It was 4 days when I went through PI, but that was 15 years ago.
Ofcourse I didn't exect to be treated like royalty, but you cannot deny the amount of sadistic power tripping people with rank who abuse that authority to the fullest.
I wasn't talking about the training being bad, I was talking about daily life and the amount of unnecessary bullshit that they put people through.
If anything the training when I was in was underfunded and a joke overall, which is a big reason i didn't re-up.

I was in from '94-'98. We didn't have the graduation ceremony like that b/c we didn't have the crucible. for those who are considering joining the Marines, boot camp is the easy part. U don't have to think. your di's will do that for u. Some of these fellas posting comments are too moto for me. That perosn who commented about 'new cannon fodder' is unfortunately right. over the years i've begun to wonder if this country is worth a bullet. I don't want to believe so many have died for nothing.

It starts out with 4 days of no sleep, followed by 3 months of nonstop physical and mental abuse. The entire time forcing you to pick a religion and filling your head with nationalist bullshit and distorted, incomplete, and often false views on American wars and the reasons we fought them.
They condition you to being told when to sleep, when to eat, when to shit, how to think and what to say, a.k.a. blind obedience. There is no "shutting it off" until you are out, and even still some cant.

It was 4 days when I went through PI, but that was 15 years ago.
Ofcourse I didn't exect to be treated like royalty, but you cannot deny the amount of sadistic power tripping people with rank who abuse that authority to the fullest.
I wasn't talking about the training being bad, I was talking about daily life and the amount of unnecessary bullshit that they put people through.
If anything the training when I was in was underfunded and a joke overall, which is a big reason i didn't re-up.
