Just to also add, His power level rises all the time however sometimes he has to release energy from his body because it rapidly grows too fast for his body to adapt, meaning he has to release the energy periodically, like in the first battle, his character is really explained alot, also that the simple act of destroying the whole south galaxy at once (as shown by Kame at the beginning of first movie) proves that his power is beyond what we seen, so who knows what he held back!

Awesome facts about Broly:

His power level is always rising so technically by now he is the strongest in db history

He only died because Goku punched him with all his force + z fighters force at his weak point where he was stabbed as a child

His power level as an infant was 10,000+ and that is larger than Goku's power level when he fought Vegeta.

He took on a 2 Super Saiyan twos Kamehameha, and only because he was distracted by Trunks he lost .

He could not control it, so it made him very unstable, hence why he exploded when dmged at the end of movie 8. And his pl only rose in movie 8, there's no proof of it in movie 10 which is a good thing for him.

The Third time, He wasnt reborn, It was a clone which had 1/5th of this power, so really that doesnt count.

The second time he almost killed them but Trunks distracted him and he lost against Goku and Gohan and Gotenks, two super saiyan two levels, and an acsended Saiyan.

Really he did more damage than most DBZ characters, He Destroyed the whole South Galaxy in one massive blast as shown in King Kais mind.

As a baby he survived a super nova blast from frieza

He had been doing that since he was a child, as seen in the movie. The daizenshuu also specifically says everyone was nearly beaten to death and only lent their remaining energy to a defeated Goku, which revived him. Broly movie 8<FPCell. So being dead doesnt stop his natural growth since his power simply comes from his anger and his natural birtrite.

broly couldn't go past lssj for the same reason he was defeated. He had a weak spot in his chest where he was stabbed as a kid which made it very hard for him to control his energy without basically exploding, hence y he kept expelling energy during the fight, all goku had to do was land a strong punch in that spot and kaboom his own energy made him explode in the same way kaioken could destroy goku's body
