  • I didn't even need the alcohol. I just slid my knife in between the tin and the plastic and pried it up.

  • Your video went viral on Amman

  • That's a good idea, but then u can't recycle your cases and get your free lipstick from mac

  • can i take acetone instaed of the alcohol ?

    thanks

  • @alisa13897lucky I've used acetone a couple times and it works.

  • thank you so much, helped a lot !

  • please tell me you are a make up artist and don't use all that make up on yourself.

  • @xXLuvliBunniXx would it matter if he uses it on himself ?

  • @vict0riak NO! it's just that he has soooo much make-up! I thought he might be a make-up artist and I don't think any guy needs that much make-up!

  • @xXLuvliBunniXx ohhh hahhaha :P and yeah he is a make up artist lol

  • You are a genius! I had actually thought of using a heat gun I have for crafting, but your way is much more logical. Of course alcohol is a solvent, and by far the most logical way to deal with the glue issue! Your creativity and knowledge are as addicting as your videos.

  • I like this way more.... The candles, blow dryers and tea lights are too extra for me.

  • Thank you very much !!!!

  • Thank you so much.

  • This video went viral on Macedonia

  • Great video

  • thx soooooo much, i tried to depott my eye shadow and i just murdered the poor shadow :( i'm gonna try your method 2day

  • Thank you sooo much for this! Super easy and quick... just depotted 5 shadows in under 10 minutes!! You are the best!

  • Wow! You made this look so easy. I'm anxious to try it.

  • Thanks so much for this!!! so much easier than heating and making a mess!

  • I call this abuse! Sorry! I feel bad for the eyeshadow...

  • you made that look sooo easy, cant wait to try it.

  • Thank you... I'm happily depotting some MAC shadows for my new palette as I type this!

  • Thank you so much! Very helpful! :)

  • Very Awesome and Helpful!!!!

  • Very helpful

  • I just found you channel and I LOVE YOU ALREADY!!

  • omg this really was so simple and no gross melting plastic smell! i just did 6 blushes and 8 eyeshadows in less than an hour! thank you :)

  • Brilliant, you made it look so simple! Now if you wouldnt mind coming over to Ireland and neatly arranging all my palettes and naming all the colours on printed paper I would be ever so greatful! :) x

  • Thank you!!! This is awesome *and* easy!! :)

  • That was soooo cool ...thank you

  • I was skeptical about whether I could do this but this was amazing! I was able to depot all of my eyeshadows in such a short time. Thank you for this tutorial!

  • So clever! Thanks so much I've been too scared to depot my shadows with heat but now will def be doing this!

  • Can you actually give the empty pot back to Mac? Even without the pan?? That'd be cool.

  • Thank you soo much!! I was a bit nervous depotting with a straightener, now I don't have to worry!! 

  • Thank you for sharing your technique. I have so many individual shadows that take up so much space now I can go to the MAC store and purchase the palettes and start depoting.

  • hi! i've just purchased my first few MAC products. Love em. I surely didnt know that they had a recycling program. Sweet! Do you now any other cosmetic lines that do the same?

  • where do you get the palette without like any eyeshadow???

  • This video was super helpful, thanks for sharing!

Your voice also kinda reminds me of Kenneth's from 30 Rock which makes me love this video even more hehe.

  • Great content... Thanks for keeping us informed

  • AWESOME! gonna try this with my single eyeshadows RIGHT NOW :)

  • Thanks alot for the video! I have been wanting to depot some of my shadows, but because I have birds I have not wanted to use a method involving heat because the fumes are toxic for them. Now I can have fun creating a new pallet and I can't thank you enough.

  • @AkAngie I finally got around to trying this and it worked wonderfully! Thanks again!

  • You are awesome!!!! I like to organize EVERYTHING so this comes in handy!!!

  • is mac the only one to do the recycling program?

  • Your voice is super relaxing :)

  • thank you so much for this! you have made my life easier. you're tutorial is awesome!

  • Thank you for this neat no heat method!

  • mac eyeshadow isnt available in my local make up shop (boots) so just wondering, what are the measurements of MAC eyeshadow pans??? If i know then i can measure the Natural Collection ones and buy a MAC empty palette online. The reason i don't want to buy MAC eyeshadow online is because 1. i would forever be waiting for eyeshadows to come in the post which can get annoying and 2. the natural collection eyeshadows are cheaper. please help!! :)

  • crap.. I forgot to buy the magnetic :s

  • Works great! :-)

  • awesome video!! Thank you so much! :)

  • WHERE DID YOU LEARN THIS?

  • Very helpful, thank you!

  • Safe? I enjoy your videos but I think a straightener is safer since you aren't using sharp tools.

  • @ooiegirl buy a paint pot of your choice it makes a great base or it even could be used as an eyeshadow also buy a mascara. You will look gorgeous effortless.

  • This seems like alot of work. That is why I plan on buying a pallett from Unii cosmetics and using mac refills. Much cheaper.

  • To anybody reading this I'm gonna buy my first two high end pieces of makeup from Macy's, probably Mac counter. Which two pieces should I get?

  • absolutely fantastic! thanks for this tutorial =D

  • Love it!!! Thank u!!! I had to depot over 45 shadows and over 20 blushes and it was so easy!!! And i didnt have to heat it!!

  • The recycle program for MAC, is it only for the shadow containers? Can we turn in empty primer containers, or studio fix compacts, etc?

  • @HEARTOF24K

    you can return almost everything(:

  • @DanielaHeartsMakeup7

    seriously? cool! :D

now i wish i hadn't thrown away some of my empty containers and compacts! LOL

thanks for the info doll! :D

  • @HEARTOF24K anything glass of plastic

  • @dirtypillow27

anything glass or plastic...got it. :)

thanks doll! i'm going to definitely start putting aside my finished MAC containers and plastic bags now that i know about this recycling program they have :)

  • You can return ANYTHING! Any container that has held their products. Even the bags the make-up wipes come in!!

  • @mariehansler

even the bags???? wow! i totally didn't know! :3

it would be nice if they mention that when i buy my MAC products

thanks for the info hun! :D

  • Not very safe! The knife.

  • YOU ARE THE BEST! I've been trying to figure this out for some time now! What's even better is that I have 6 eyeshadow pots that I need to depot! Free lipstick on it's way!!! THANKS SO MUCH!!!

  • AHH THAT'S AMAZING :) I have a few quad palettes from MAC and some loose shadows, so now I'm going to buy one bigger pallette to consolidate

    THANK YOUUU <3

  • excellent video, thanks so much I will be using this tip a lot God bless you for helping us women with makeup tips.

  • thanks this was super helpful :)

  • No pairing knife and nothing thin enough to get into the crevice! :( Boo I want to put my eyeshadows in my palette...would a safety pin work koren?

  • best I have seen yet; thanks for sharing doll xxx

  • You really gotta admire his organization. This really makes me excited for depotting and I don't even have anything to depot :0)

  • does anyone know where he get those pallets

  • @160pinkdaisies mac stores counters dont sell them :)

  • @160pinkdaisies Most people buy them off of ebay.

I myself use the "elf" 4 pallet containers sold for only 1 dollar at Kmart =]

  • @160pinkdaisies mac has them on their website

  • Oh!! this is just fantastic! I am about to de-pot over 50 eye-shadows and this seems MUCH safer than fire and heat! I am so glad I found this video!!

  • You are my idol :)

  • Really Great! Thank you!!

  • Excellent advice!

  • You are so amazing. I've said this before, but you are so informative and your videos are so helpful!!

  • Oh hooray to you, Koren - thank you for teaching this! Using an iron or a flame wasn't anything I wanted to try.

    Again, thanks!

  • theres no way i'd be able to do that and keep all my fingers intact unfortunately.

  • you did this on my birthday ^_^

  • @annieyoulittlewhore Really!! That's a month after mine!!

  • What is the item number of the Avery circular labels that you used for the back of the pots?

Great tutorial! Thank you so much!

  • Wow I love this! I finally want to depot my Mac Shadows. I much rather get an eyeshadow than a lipstick, but that seems to be the deal. STILL that is a great deal.

  • aww young koren haha

  • Great job!! bravooo

  • not that easy...I was so eager to do this, butike one of theprevious people commenting, I failed at step 2. UD shadows are hell to depot!!!

  • ur AWESOME!!!

  • UGH I GOT STUCKED ON STEP 2!!!

  • and this is why you a guru, the best depotting method I've seen so far :)

  • I love this method because it doesn't involve the heating elements and toxic fumes! Thank you!!

  • This is the best tutorial I've seen! So much easier than the heat methods, and way faster!

  • Smart idea!!! :)

  • Yeah, I checked for myself and it's official as of today, MAC is having a giveaway for a whole lot of make up gift cards act FAST though. ;) I found this out on the MAC face book wall. And yep, I can save you some time looking for it, this link goes to tha registration page.

    93。org/mm

1 more thing, you got to use this code MAC100 when it asks you for it. I am going to upload a video of my favorite hair tutorial on saturday!!!!!!

  • does the heat effect the actual eyeshadow/blush?

  • haha can u say QUEER?!? bahaha(:

  • This worked so well! I have successfully depotted my first MAC eye shadow :-D

  • Great video! Keep doing more!

  • wow the tranformation from 3 yrs ago to now..congrads on your amazing journey

  • This works perfectly. Thanks!

  • I cannot wait to try this! Thanks so much for the great video!!

  • You are just so amazing. Thanks for this video, it worked like a charm :)

  • wow - depotting seems like such an effort. MAC should make it easier for us.

  • @Pinkflower5021 go to the website, you can purchase just the pans of eyeshadow/blush/face powder.

  • gosh you are a genious!! haha i have so many mac eyeshadows i need to depot and i really hated thinking about using fire....this is an excellent tutorial on how to depot your shadows. thanks a bunch! i will deff try this out when i purchase an empty pallette!

  • a flat iron IS a straightening iron. duh!

  • or....already buy the eyeshadow in pan form!

  • @lilpackerfreak lol true but people who start out with mac usually never think of that until they have 30 eyeshadows taking up all their space...lol

  • great video,thank you!!!

  • Best video so far I've seen in plotting

  • idk if rules have changed or this differs in areas, but they DON'T allow the depotted containers in the back to mac program..the metal backing needs to be in tact! so if you plan on depotting and returning your shadows to get a free lipstick, they WON'T!! :(

  • i rather get burned that ruin my eye shadow by slipping the knife in it then chopping off my finger, sorry :-|

  • @MuslimaInMakeup you can also use a metal nail file or duckbill hair clip so you dont risk cutting yourself

  • @barbiedefined yea but its still a higher risk of breaking your shadow, even though i know you can mend it, ive mended eye shadows before and they were never the same texture after

  • wow the best tutorial!!! Thank you!

  • You don't have to use a knife. Try a metal nail file, one thats pointy at the top.

  • awesome method! best one i have seen so far! thanks :-)

  • @luvligal06 i agree! the heat method looks scary! i love this channel, and all the awesome info! please keep the vids coming!

  • Knives and flames are both unsafe but if I had to choose a method, If I had to choose, it would be this! When using knives as always you would have to take your time...why would you rush doing things with a knife/wire cutters! But with whatever method you choose, patience is key!

  • I don't know why everyone has to pry the eyeshadow and plastic border out from the pot. with a knife...I can just stick my finger in the crack and pry it out. It is much easier.

  • This was really helpful! Thank You!

  • This was a rather long video for what was being explained. This whole procedure could have been explained in 4 minutes.

  • This isa good way but i don't think its that much safer because you can also cut your hand with a knife if your not to careful. If you have a flat iron just take the melted pot off with a popsicle stick and let it fall on a paper and cool and remove it.

  • @istarzgirl AGREE

  • that looks more dangerous

  • Haha, "a lot safer"...theres a knife, pliers, and some alcohol.

  • @holylovesmakeup16 You know what he meant.

  • @huisachemay yeah i do...i was kidding.

  • That looks so much easier! Awsome.

    Thx

  • just like so...haha

  • Hey Koren, I am so late to this tutorial, but you are the BEST! I just watched several of these depotting videos, and yours is by far the best. Thank you so much for this great tutorial, and all the things I've learned from you.

  • I couldnt do it :( broke 2 of my eyeshadows

  • great and helpfull video

  • i just depotted for the very first time and i tried this method and it was super easy and worked straight away except I had real trouble getting the remaining glue of the metal pan? any more tips? ta ;)

  • You are THE BEST!

  • EnKore you are awesome! You combine your man skills with your makeup skills which is a definite plus! I love your videos!

  • Omg I love this method. This is the only one I ever tried so I have nothing to compare it to but it was really easy. Did it for the first time a few days ago and I didn't crack any of my eyeshadows. You just have to take your time and relax.

  • Amazzzzinng video! =)

  • So helpful!

  • hey encore..ive tried this method!!!yea it cracks abit the shade but its safe and if i keep trying with other cheaper shade probably ill get the idea.hopefully

  • Thanks for sharing Koren! This looks alot easier then the heat process!

  • wow that looks really easy ..makes me wanna try

  • You are such a sweetheart for uploading this and sharing. Thank you for your wonderful explanation, I'm excited to start adding to my palettes :)

  • Corrine, will you be my best- forever!!!

  • i hate this method! my eyeshadows always crack/chip or the metal casing gets cuts in it cuz of the cutter...=( bottom line i really don't like this method. breaks my heart to see a brand new shadow get all chipped or shattered..or less than perfect =*(

  • very good presentation skills you have there.like the thoroughness.

  • infume intoxication.....man the vehicles gave much more than that!

  • no knife babe!

  • A knife is a lot safer to use?

  • @tinanevala lol. what you cut yourself right? ouch!

  • @tinanevala i'm sure a screwdriver would be a safer solution haha.

  • @tinanevala You seem to use the knife whether or not you use heat, so yes, it would be safer NOT to have to use an iron, flat iron, candle, or other heating element. If you have a way that doesn't require a knife, make a video! I know we'd all be happy to hear an even easier way.

  • @emylye627 use a large safety pin or a tweezer...it works for me..

  • I didn't know about the recycle program. Now I have to find out if the only MAC store in Puerto Rico is part of the program. Thanks Koren.

  • Much safer suggestion than using heat, particularly for minors (and anyone who cares about their lungs or pets)! I wondered why nobody had tried a chemical glue solvent as opposed to heat, and finally I see someone has some sense.

  • I could not furgure out how to get all of my MAC eye shadows out of the little holder. This is my next project..Thanks a bunch!!

  • I use a nail file instead of a knife. It's a lot less intimidating. great tutorial.

  • What palette are you using? Is this a MAC palette or something else like from Starsmakeuphaven? I'm going to assume based on the time period of this video that it is a pro mac palette, but there are a lot of other ones out there so just wanted to make sure.

  • Thank you so much for this video. This does look much safer than using a lighter.

  • Thank you that was very helpful

  • @ 3:04

It makes nervous,..cause if that knife slips...ouch

  • OMG you are genius...no more nasty carbon mess from the candles...thanks, guys!!!

  • Great thanks

  • you are soooo wonderful and clever. i adore you. <3

  • i just ordered my pallet online. I wasnt going to depot them because of the fact of using heat, but now im deff. going to do it. Hope its as easy as you make it look!

  • Thank you so much for this heatless tutorial!! I was always worried about hurting my straightening iron or burning my fingers. What a great alternative for those of us accident-prone MAC fans! :D

  • YOUR. BRILLIANT. and my new favorite!! ha

  • yay!!!!! now when i depot my mac eyeshadow i wont get high off the fumes yayy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wOW I THINKS IS A GREAT METHOD BUT I DON´T THINK IS SAFE EITHER BECAUSE WE HAVE TO USE A KNIFE.....OH WELL AS LONG AS WE ARE CAREFUL!!!!! THANK YOU ENKORE :) HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

  • Thank you so much for showing how to do that. Now I just need to go buy a pallet! ;)
