There are too many area-denial weapons in Russia to even try. Euro bases are soft all out in the open. Russian ones are hardened.

@barthagabor Agreed about Romanian extreme nationalists, but i might add the Hungarian extreme nationalists in that same pot. Also, the romanians have been around even though they were in different states, before 1859 (not 1885). You can't say that Germany's history begins at the unification of all German states, can you? The same goes for Italy. So Basarab and that 1330 episode is part of both Romanian and Hungarian histories.

And I doubt they will take Denmark with ease - if they are going through Sweden they have to cross a straight or the only bridge from DK to SWE wich is very hard.

And I saw not long ago something in the news about an old Russian cruiser - it was a wreck and scientists said it could blow up at any time - I dont hope all Russian ships are like that.
And our largest and newest Frigates have a stealth hull - making it harder to detect on radar

Anti-air? So how well will it shoot down a Mach 3 missiles that skims waves only a meter above and maneuvers in course and altitude? From the moment its seen ship has about 5-7 sec to engage it so t has to be locked on, fired upon and killed.

@Spetsnazovets Our new frigates and command ships are doesnt have curved lines - which means it is supposed to deflect radar waves, but ofcourse it cant do that 100% but it can reduce the visibility on a radar - our command ships and frigates can do as much as 3 different ships - mine laying, sub hunting etc. And our new Frigates and dont you think some of newest ships in the world are more advanced that cruisers from the cold war?

If a war breaks out between allied forces and Russia - I seriously doubt the Russian Baltic fleet have the power to take the fight to our navy.

Advanced cruisers? missile it fires as I said before are in the heart of Russian defense systems envelope. Kortik system and S-300F/FM complex WILL take care of anything NATO ships can throw at it. Russian Naval strategic aviation will turn ANY ship to mush.

@Spetsnazovets I just seriously doubt that Russia would win a war against NATO and the EU - mainly because of Americas money, if they dont have it they make it.
And our waters are very shallow - if a Russian fleet comes they would have a huge trouple getting pass without getting blown up either by mines, coastal defenses or warships.
Of course Russia would win if it were only DK vs Rus - but Im very ´sure of that our navy can hold off the Russian Baltic fleet

@Blackie3391 If nato would try to invade Russian territory (they won't) they'd suffer very high losses in all air, ground and sea for reasons I stated b4. For Europe it'd be political and military suicide to even try. Only US might pull it off and even then they'd get a few SLBMs with conventional warheads onto their bases and airfields. There are too many area-denial weapons in Russia to even try. Euro bases are soft all out in the open. Russian ones are hardened.

When was the last time Russia invaded anyone for land? Chechnya was a counter-terrorist operation and Georgia was very similar to Desert Storm politically.

@elmateeeo It already is an ally but its also is an independent agent that can act separately while still consulting with EU and UN. Russia is a large and strong country with big economic potential and is not to be sneezed at. I found Russia a more fair nation in international politics then many preferring to rely in international precedent. Its also much more moderate. Putin and Medvedev are careful on international stage while being principled at the same time.
