  • I hope Jean Dujardin wins the Oscar. He was the most transforming out of the five.

Rooney Mara? I think Viola Davis is going to get it, dude.

Seriously do you hate The Artist? Because your either rooting for The Descendants or Tree of Life in every category. As well as Girl with Dragon Tattoo. Whatever.

  • I think you're right. I also hope that Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and Midnight in Paris win this year. I haven't seen Tree of Life or any of the other movies that you've mentioned, but I also hope that Harry Potter 7 part 2 wins as well for at least one of its nominations. It deserves an Oscar!

  • Though Hollywood seems to be embracing Clooney and The Descendants, I just came from seeing The Artist, very fresh and original concept, the actor deserved an Oscar nom besides the supporting actress....still wish De Caprio's j edgar would've made the cut.

  • No one was snubbed more than Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Alan Rickman deserved an Academy Award.

  • Thank you!))

  • was awesome mate..do watch our new film from Bollywood superstar Mithun Da

  • Good sum up - this is a nostalgic year for Oscar, i believe - Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese, Steven SPielberg films in contention - a 9/11 film, films with homages to American and world cinema, 80 year old legendary actors, Marvellous Meryl Streep's historic 17th nod. You and I have different tastes and wishes - i believe Hugo and The Artist will win big, Clooney and The Help will do well.

  • Subscribed...Nice to see a dedicated film buff that knows his stuff.

  • ran out of charactes...Wish J Egar was nominated for Best Film, an intricate piece with an outstanding performance...this prooved once and for all Leo can act...because of it's originality I think The Artist but I wish it would be War Horse , beautifully crafted in an old-fashioned way but probably Descendants & Clooney ( loved by the industry ) will scoop

  • for the most part I think the nominations were for expected except for Bridesmaids in a best actress category, in my opinion the hottest category...the most lame Best Original Song...really only two noms...that means little entertainment throughout 3 hrs...pleased that Williams & Mara recognized; Meryl has been denied for 30 yrs, possibly a win, .disappointed j edgar didn't get noms, Leo was superb, very layered performance and brilliant screenplay..Oscar time is a party for us.Happy Oscars !

  • A movie of my country is selected in the top 5 best foreign language films. :)

  • I love your comments and I love your diction and presentation. Great job!!!

  • and just to be ultra picky.. the village they used was obviously not in Devon.. so that threw me a bit and I was finding it hard to not think.. oh no. It is a small point, but these things jar occassionally

  • Hmm.. just had a thought about Spielberg. I love his work. But War Horse and Tin Tin?.. has he spent more effort on the look, which is spectacular and less on the content and script.

  • Wasn't sure about the quality of the acting either. The English Army Officers raised the bar a bit when they came on. But generally I thought it was a bit weak on the acting front, especiallly the boy. The old French guy, who was also in Sarahs Key, was good. Though I am not sure he understood how auctions worked at the end??? BUT I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!! Hope it wins Cinematography. Beautifully shot.

  • I went to see War Horse. Wasn't it great?? No Man's Land scene just about got everyone in the cinema crying. BUT... and this is not a criticism.. it was unashamedly Lassie Come Home. Crikey, I couldn't believe it. It even had an Elizabeth Taylor type girl character in it. BUT.. I loved it.

  • Every year is huge! ;)

  • And how did you not like Hugo? That movie was fantastic. I'm rooting for it for Best Picture and for Scorsese for Best Director since they shut out Dragon Tattoo.

  • I think it's an off year for the Oscars. Nothing really appeals to me this year.

  • you love david fincher way too much

  • @uncannyblue David Fincher is the man! How can you not love him?!?!? :)

  • I had seen the top 5 films before the noms were announced. Every year people complain a lot, but I love the Oscars. Sure the Academy cannot please everyone. But this prestige award is not about the opinion of those outside the industry. The latest class of BP noms are as good as any year past. They show class and good taste too. "The Artist" is in my opinion the best production of 2011. Anyone who bashes the Academy is not a film lover!

  • David, to be honest I haven't seen any of those movies but I have seen the trailer for war horse and I think it is an incredible movie.

  • David, I couldn't agree more with you on Brad Pitt. He is a brilliant actor; underrated, overlooked and due some recognition, for all of his outstanding work. S! MJ

  • The nominations are horrible, so bad in fact that this might be the 1st time that I won't watch the show. There is not one great film nominated for Best Picture, but 3 bad ones (The Help, War Horse & Extremely Loud). The fact that Fassbender, Brooks, Fincher, Gosling & Refn aren't nominated renders the Academy totally meaningless.

P.S. How could you possible think the score for War Horse was "brilliant"? It was laughably bad, and I actually laughed! Even people who defend the film know it sucks

  • @grindhouse141 the help was a great movie, i have no idea what your talking about.

  • @trainyardprod your sarcasm is exquisite

  • @earcher5 indeed it is 'exquisite', good sir. Have a good day ;)

  • I'm so pissed 50/50 wasn't nominated for anything. Easily the best movie of the year and the writing, cinematography and acting by Seth Rogan and Joseph Gordon- Levitt was amazing. Also i was unimpressed with the Tree of Life, it had some cool shots, but i couldn't follow the story

  • Honestly & bluntly: it was a daylight robbery of the worst kind! Fassbender, A. Brooks, Gosling, Drive, Tintin, Shailene, Serkis. All got robbed of a chance. That's why I'm foregoing my tradition of watching the cermonies this year. When they get it right for 2012's crop of Oscar contenders, then I'll start watching again.

  • About 10 years ago, I would also have said that the Oscars were my favorite night of the year, but the last few years, they've really taken a downward slope. The last two years may have been the two worst telecasts in Oscar history.

  • Michael Fassbender and Albert Brooks both got ROBBED!!!!! Both should have gotten nods.

  • You are awesome David! I love watching your videos and your passion for films!

  • you like the nominations? you people have no idea right? what about michael fassberer, leonardo di caprio, tilda switon and the skin I live in? all left out. sick of this! oscars such a disapointement this year

  • Go war horse and girl with the dragon tatoo I say. Amazing films! Wasn't that impress with The Artist, no idea why everyone is going crazy about it.

  • I think you should show what you do in a day!
