Well, Paul . . . So we won't be accused of filthy Male Chauvinism, I guess I better list the FEMALE jazz crooners that GUYS have gone nuts about . . . the list is long , but let's start with Helen Morgan . . . she invented that stirring stance of dangling shapely gams off the grand piano . . . for more modern versions, check-out Michelle Pffeifer in "Baker Boys" or Eartha Kitt in "St. Louis Blues" (be STILL my heart!) Peggy Lee/ Anita O'Day/ Chris Conner/ OUT of room!
Well, folks . . . your grandmothers got a quiver in their ovaries when "Der Bingle" crooned . . and now, your grandaughters gonads are on fire for "The Bieber Boy".
Probably the best performance was in the episode of "Breakfast With Ricky And Lucy" for Phippps Department Store. Ricky was great: "That voice!" and "Sing it, honey, sing it."
This is one of the very few early 1930s Bing records I do not have on a 78 rpm record. Was it ever issued? I know he recorded a great song with the Dorsey Brothers called " Here Is My Heart" that was not issued, BUT someone from Brunswick Pressed several for his friends Bless his little heart. GOD I`m looking for a 78rpm copy of this one as well, I do have it on a C.D though.
You won't find this on a 78, it was somehow rejected! It didn't get released til 1967! Lennie Hayton (Lena Horne's husband) is on piano. I know I have it...somewhere. It's on the Bing Crosby jazz singer cd from Retrieval Records, it appears. Can't swear to it though, so dig around. I may have it on that 3 cd box set Columbia put out many years ago in a lp sized set.
Will that explains the reason i don`t have it!!! I wish thay had issued all of his wonderful recordings! another one that was not issued was "How The Time Can Fly" in 1931 for Brunswick, I`ve never heard this one and would LOVE to!!! Thank You so muck for Your reply, You answered my question.
She also sing it in the episode were she got Ricky a job doing a morning show "Breakfest With The Recardo`s" I think titeld Mr. & Mrs. TV Show. She sang it in her own charming way! At the end she wanted to get even with Ricky and wore one of her best costumes yet!
In spite of what has often been claimed, Bing, during his scat vocal, does not use a phrase from Bix' solo on the Whiteman version - but only very briefly hints at it. However, Lennie Hayton clearly quotes Bix in his piano solo before Bing's vocal.
