i have mine set instead of using the sink i have the 2 tubes in my coil bucket but i run my water from a 20 gallon fish tank filled with water and blocks of ice so not wasting water and when the warm water recycles it cools back down before running back threw bucket its a nice set up
I am using a pressure cooker tubing is connected to a stainless steal coil in a bucket of water. I am getting water but when I measured it it was showing it was 111 ppm and my sink water measure 112. Now I know distilled water should measure 00 ppm I even ran it through a carbon filter and it read 26 ppm what am I doing wrong. and what is safe water measures in ppm if I cant get distilled water to come through HELP PLEASE what am I doing wrong with this distiller.
I don't see any savings when you're waisting water trough the sink. It's cheaper to buy it. If you have a water well, you're using electricity? I reather just use the sun and a fresnel lens to heat up the water,( saves me the gas)
Water from the sink goes to the bottom of the cooling bucket. Warm water rises to the top and leaves for the sink drain from another hose. It is the best way to operate your distiller. Do not try to keep up with ice or any other system unless you have many feet of snow outside. Turn on your faucet to get cold water in and top hose will drizzle out the hot. Water level comes up until you let out more warm water. Use plumber's putty if you drill in the bucket for hose fittings to prevent leaking.
Your system would be useless in the event that the electicity was out for any extended period of time or even indefinitely. You will not have running water when the electric goes out and therefore there will not be water from the sink to cool the coils. You need either a 2-bucket/2-coil system or a single larger bucket and larger coil system to accomplish the cooling process. The heat source in an extended blackout would be your basic camp fire so you need to start collecting wood to burn.
it gets hot, if you dont have water running in from the sink it will melt all the ice in that small bucket and start steaming like a mother fucker at the top. i highly recommend using an in sink system like this.
@Fuzzysword I am with you Fuzzy. Ice in buckets is a losing proposition. Sink lines are the way to go. Watch out for the top drain line hose and make sure it doesn't slip off or people will be mopping up. Try epoxy glue to keep that top hose secure.
im distilling water "cough" moonshine. what??

did'nt think water would be distilled using copper pipe as it would be contaminated. they normally use glass tube for purity

How hot does the water in the bucket get that you have to run fresh water from the sink?
