  • JUST MISSED!!! "The Other Guy" just missed making the Billboard's Top 10 chart; it peaked at No. 11 and spent a total of 18 weeks in the Top 100 in 1982/83, it entered the charts on Nov. 20th, 1982!!!

  • Ahhh, Johnny Farnham, what a vocalist he is. Gold Class 100%

  • LRB hit #11 with the studio version, 2-5-83, in Billboard, God bless ya, for postin' it. Have a great weekend!

  • Hey you guys.John F. doesn't "oversing" anything. He's just so damn fab that some people don't know how to react to his gift. Jeeze..he's pitch perfect, and never misses a note. He's a vocal genius, that colors his notes, because that's how he feels the song.Nobody can bend a phrase like John F! Cheers to FreeTheRocks. ;+D

  • is there an ablum with john farnham?

  • is there an ablum with ohn farnham?

  • i like the little river band.. but its this song that made me love them..... and id say its only because john sang it.... hes great!

  • has anyone got the actual song?

  • What a shame. I would love to have it. Thanks for filling me in and posting atleast these videos

  • I love this band and I saw this concert on HBO back in the 80's. I would love to have the dvd of it but can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know where or how I could get the dvd?

  • @blueyedblndie It's never been officially released to DVD.

  • That is A Big Bummer to Me, Cause I'm A Very Big Fan, I Was Raised Around This Music

  • @blueyedblndie I got a copy on E-bay,but I believe it was bootlegged?

There's no company label, and it just has "DVD video" printed on it,with a cartoon pic of a Platapus..LOL It took forever find it. good luck!

  • @blueyedblndie

I would also love that dvd. Maybe HBO has it available. These guys are just another great Aussie group.

  • memories of my parents divorce!!

  • great music!

  • John Farnham wasn't oversinging or trying to make anyone look bad. He just clearly loved what he did. it's so obvious, you can hear it in his voice and see it in his face and body language in this (and many other LRB performances.) If he were a "glory hound" he wouldn't be trying to get the other band members attention and get them involved like he was here. It's too bad the others feel that way, they're all very good vocalists, a great band, and they did great songs.

  • FreetheRocks... I want to sincerely "Thank You" for uploading all of the 83 Melbourne concert. Seeing the guys," Rock " again and again... brings back all those memories. "John Farnham" is the greatest...

Bless You and Yours with... "Happy Holidays" !!!

  • MY FAVORITE SONG OF THE LITTLE RIVER BAND ! ! !.........THNX 4 POSTING ! ! !

    sincerely, ralphie

  • Don't complain too much...let the kids alone

  • very cool

  • Back then you needed talent, thats why music was so good. LRB is one of the best. why can't there be bands like this anymore...oh, that's right, i said you need talent. and now adays there is none

  • I friggin love their music! I dont know why, nor can explain it, but I do.

  • @bluesquidny You did in your statement!!! MUSIC! It just isn't written anymore like this its all done by computers!

  • Saw the movie "The Other Guys" today...and was surprised when the Little River Band's "Reminiscing" was played in the movie. Thought they might play this song as well but they didn't but it wasn't as well known.

  • alot of the singers back then could sing live and in tune. Ive been to alot of live performances and i can honestly say that the one performing sometimes cant hit their notes

  • One of my fav Little River songs...

  • Great Band -- GREAT SONG!! THANKS FOR POSTING!

  • Watching this show on HBO sold me completely on LRB. Farnham rocked. Besides too many musician changes were made, and I think it was their downfall. They most certainly would be performing now and selling more songs. I love them and would love to have a copy of this concert video. Can anyone help with that?

  • @toolbar2345 I went on a mission 5 yrs ago to find this..recorded it myself many yrs ago on HBO (VHS) Was NOT successful finding a new DVD, however, did find a copy bootleg I'm sure on EBay. Even have a friend in Australia trying to find Farnham dvd's for me, but his DVD's are not formatted for the USA..ordered 2 that claimed to be for the US, neither worked. You may have to just keep watching on Youtube. I have looked recently, nothing on EBay now. Saw LRB 3 yr ago, Nelson still rocks

  • @autumnday43 Australian (PAL Format) DVDs can be easily played on a computer DVD drive. 99% of John's official releases are "region free"(though still PAL video format - region coding and video format have nothing to do with each other). Computer drives DO care about region coding but that can be pretty easily defeated with freeware like DVD43.

  • @FreeTheRocks Will have to check that out. I didn't try to play it on my computer. Was trying to play it in a new Sony surround sound home theatre. And the ones I ordered did claim to be "region free" or "all regions" but sure did not work in my unit. I finally gave up!

  • @autumnday43 Again....region codes have NOTHING to do with NTSC or PAL. The reason the discs didn't work was because they are in PAL video format.

  • Can you believe that Goble and Birtles and Housden really got hot because Farnham was such a "Glory Hound" and was all over the stage any time they didnt tape his mic cord down to the floor. They felt "Intimidated" because he "oversang" the songs and he showboated ...made them look "average".

He made them look Great and his vocals were and are "Over The Top" excellent~

Wayne Nelson was also an excellent vocalist and a very talented Bass Player as well.

  • @kc5tng Housden wasn't involved in that.

  • @FreeTheRocks hey Free, I didn't think Goble was in that either. I mean, wasn't he the one who recommended Farnham in the first place, and who wrote and produced music for him (eg on Uncovered)?

  • @engageprague Goble is NOT the person you think he is.

  • @kc5tng This is So true! He did make them look great and brought out the best in each one, whether it was because of a competitive nature or not.

  • I really like these guys--simply world class musicians in a nutshell! It's a shame

the standard in music has degraded so badly and the best they can put out today are glorified goofballs and no talents!

  • @kc5tng and if you remember, Wayne Nelson was his bass player when he first went solo. So obviously he liked what he did!

  • @kc5tng

Yeah, it's stupid, isn't it? LRB were awesomely talented but John Farnham has one of the most powerful and clear singing voices in history, so of course he "oversang" the songs. LRB should've been grateful to have Farnham!

  • any news yet of this show being released in amy format? Does anyone know anything about a U.S release?

  • @bobrich1QEDJ5 One of the band members who is in this video told me that a release is in the works BUT (to me)it does not seem to be a high priority for the guy who owns the footage. And NO...none of the band members owns this footage and NONE of them are holding up the process.

  • This is the one of the best live performances I have eve seen.

  • Isn't the name of this song "Try Again"? Either way, I'm love their music!

  • @atlantis No. It's on their Greatest Hits album from 1982. They probably have more recent compilations, but that's the one that I have.

  • @atlantis45690

The correct name of the song is

    "The Other Guy"

  • better than the crap they call rock today.

  • keystone49 said it all.

  • It's never been released to VHS or DVD. Rumors are that is just might be released in the near future.

  • Both as brilliant, great band, John is my preference.

  • Band's and singer' s don't get any better then LRB and John.

Some are every bit as good, but none any better then they were. Wish I had been there in the front row seat of this concert. An amazing group. I can't forget Glenn and the original band members. Started out as a superb band and stayed superb. Thanks for posting this great clip.

  • Magic, great posting ;) Billy :)

  • Going to see them tonight! YEAH!!

    LOVE those harmonies.

  • amazing chemistry...perfect !!!

  • LITTLE RIVER BAND! 1 of if not the best soft rock bands of alll time . Thank you for bring back awsome memories!

  • this rocks.

  • just terrific!!!!

  • Anybody know where I can find a video or dvd of this concert at? Would love to have it.

  • The video of this concert is not available anywhere in the world accordingf to sources I have contacted. Not even HBO can find a copy to my knowledge.

  • oh? really? then how did all these videos of the songs from this concert get on YouTube? I'm just sayin' maybe you can't find it in a store or whatever, but, obviously people have it...

  • Yes. People like me recorded this show many years ago and thought enough to save it and keep it in good quality all these years.....but it has not been officially released in any form. HBO does not own this show....they never did. HBO only had "broadcast rights". The producer of this show owns it. He still has the footage and he is contemplating releasing it in the near future.

  • @FreeTheRocks ...and people like me are glad you

made that effort....and that you are sharing now.

Music like this fires up some powerful memories.

    Good stuff. THANK YOU

  • I got this DVD from a guy on Youtube. Fritzritz. I had this on VHS and now on DVD! Watch it all the time!

  • The best hit that John had with the group!

  • Who else remembers this song on radio 3KZ in Melbourne, 1983? Ah, the memories...

  • Oh how I can remember just like it was just a few years ago. Time sure went by way too fast! Now I'm doing good to understand today's new music! LOL

  • Their drummer is jacked...Awesome SOng!!!!!!:)

  • what a voice!

  • Love this! And JF!

  • John Farnham, incredibly great voice!

  • I love Beeb!
