JUST MISSED!!! "The Other Guy" just missed making the Billboard's Top 10 chart; it peaked at No. 11 and spent a total of 18 weeks in the Top 100 in 1982/83, it entered the charts on Nov. 20th, 1982!!!
Hey you guys.John F. doesn't "oversing" anything. He's just so damn fab that some people don't know how to react to his gift. Jeeze..he's pitch perfect, and never misses a note. He's a vocal genius, that colors his notes, because that's how he feels the song.Nobody can bend a phrase like John F! Cheers to FreeTheRocks. ;+D
I love this band and I saw this concert on HBO back in the 80's. I would love to have the dvd of it but can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know where or how I could get the dvd?
John Farnham wasn't oversinging or trying to make anyone look bad. He just clearly loved what he did. it's so obvious, you can hear it in his voice and see it in his face and body language in this (and many other LRB performances.) If he were a "glory hound" he wouldn't be trying to get the other band members attention and get them involved like he was here. It's too bad the others feel that way, they're all very good vocalists, a great band, and they did great songs.
FreetheRocks... I want to sincerely "Thank You" for uploading all of the 83 Melbourne concert. Seeing the guys," Rock " again and again... brings back all those memories. "John Farnham" is the greatest...
Back then you needed talent, thats why music was so good. LRB is one of the best. why can't there be bands like this anymore...oh, that's right, i said you need talent. and now adays there is none
Saw the movie "The Other Guys" today...and was surprised when the Little River Band's "Reminiscing" was played in the movie. Thought they might play this song as well but they didn't but it wasn't as well known.
alot of the singers back then could sing live and in tune. Ive been to alot of live performances and i can honestly say that the one performing sometimes cant hit their notes
Watching this show on HBO sold me completely on LRB. Farnham rocked. Besides too many musician changes were made, and I think it was their downfall. They most certainly would be performing now and selling more songs. I love them and would love to have a copy of this concert video. Can anyone help with that?
@toolbar2345 I went on a mission 5 yrs ago to find this..recorded it myself many yrs ago on HBO (VHS) Was NOT successful finding a new DVD, however, did find a copy bootleg I'm sure on EBay. Even have a friend in Australia trying to find Farnham dvd's for me, but his DVD's are not formatted for the USA..ordered 2 that claimed to be for the US, neither worked. You may have to just keep watching on Youtube. I have looked recently, nothing on EBay now. Saw LRB 3 yr ago, Nelson still rocks
@autumnday43 Australian (PAL Format) DVDs can be easily played on a computer DVD drive. 99% of John's official releases are "region free"(though still PAL video format - region coding and video format have nothing to do with each other). Computer drives DO care about region coding but that can be pretty easily defeated with freeware like DVD43.
@FreeTheRocks Will have to check that out. I didn't try to play it on my computer. Was trying to play it in a new Sony surround sound home theatre. And the ones I ordered did claim to be "region free" or "all regions" but sure did not work in my unit. I finally gave up!
Can you believe that Goble and Birtles and Housden really got hot because Farnham was such a "Glory Hound" and was all over the stage any time they didnt tape his mic cord down to the floor. They felt "Intimidated" because he "oversang" the songs and he showboated ...made them look "average".
He made them look Great and his vocals were and are "Over The Top" excellent~
Wayne Nelson was also an excellent vocalist and a very talented Bass Player as well.
@FreeTheRocks hey Free, I didn't think Goble was in that either. I mean, wasn't he the one who recommended Farnham in the first place, and who wrote and produced music for him (eg on Uncovered)?
Yeah, it's stupid, isn't it? LRB were awesomely talented but John Farnham has one of the most powerful and clear singing voices in history, so of course he "oversang" the songs. LRB should've been grateful to have Farnham!
@bobrich1QEDJ5 One of the band members who is in this video told me that a release is in the works BUT (to me)it does not seem to be a high priority for the guy who owns the footage. And NO...none of the band members owns this footage and NONE of them are holding up the process.
Band's and singer' s don't get any better then LRB and John.
Some are every bit as good, but none any better then they were. Wish I had been there in the front row seat of this concert. An amazing group. I can't forget Glenn and the original band members. Started out as a superb band and stayed superb. Thanks for posting this great clip.
The video of this concert is not available anywhere in the world accordingf to sources I have contacted. Not even HBO can find a copy to my knowledge.
oh? really? then how did all these videos of the songs from this concert get on YouTube? I'm just sayin' maybe you can't find it in a store or whatever, but, obviously people have it...
Yes. People like me recorded this show many years ago and thought enough to save it and keep it in good quality all these years.....but it has not been officially released in any form. HBO does not own this show....they never did. HBO only had "broadcast rights". The producer of this show owns it. He still has the footage and he is contemplating releasing it in the near future.

@autumnday43 Again....region codes have NOTHING to do with NTSC or PAL. The reason the discs didn't work was because they are in PAL video format.

I really like these guys--simply world class musicians in a nutshell! It's a shame
the standard in music has degraded so badly and the best they can put out today are glorified goofballs and no talents!
