I actually photographed this locomotive a few years ago in Woodburn, Oregon. Poor thing :O I love ACe's!

@sd70m2man I have no idea if they will be repaired, I do not work for the railroad and do not make such decisions.

BTW, how do you pour an SD70ACe? You'd really have to have a huge glass to pour it into.

@AllenRockwell Well if he wanted to pour them, he'd have to get a heat proof container, heat the ACe to a molten state, then it is pourable.

@coolkid124512 No, SD 40-2's are smaller, and less powerful, in terms of fuel consumption, This engine is very efficient, And in the US we can move freight better than the UK. Trains are shorter there, and they move faster. In america, there are trains up to and longer the 2 miles in length.

Wow! A lot of force here that is for sure for a SD70ACe to take this much damage. What exactly happened in this scenerio? I presume the crew lived due to every comment talking about them recovering in the hospital. Someone has the FRA looking over their shoulder thats for sure! Nice shot's, Allen! 5/5!

A shame to see that greath engine like this. I new the engineer had one arm amputed to retire him from the cab, I hope everything is gona bee fine.

@upmodeler92 They can fix it good as new. They cost too much to junk. And it's just the cab anyway. They can cut the cab off and put new on and reinstall all the components. Piece of cake for the wreck repair crew.

I new you would have some pictures! I had never been in that location before tuesday,and I so a lot Union Pacific and it was so cool and then to see these.I feel real bad fo the engenier that got hurt, but the engines allso seam to have a life of their own.

@cnwbelvideresub The freight train with the 2 SD70ACe's at the lead were traveling westbound at a pretty good pace. At the same time, on the same track for some reason there was a shorter freight train being pushed eastbound (locomotives at the west end of the train) and when the two met (about midnight last night) you can see what happened. It was a mess.

There are some pretty good photos on my flickr that show the locomotives on top of the train they hit only a few hours after the accident.
