  • Typical L-form bacteria .Proberly glyphosfat foster them like beta-

    lactam ab does.

  • I think we should all rejoice. Monsanto ("Monsatan") is giving us all a two-fer: two end-time signs (famine and pestilence) in a single GMO seed! Believe it or not, this really is good news as it truly heralds the end of this era. Maybe it will even happen at year's end in 2012!

  • I am so tired of monsanto flunkies who would sell there mother's soul for a dollar getting on here and saying reserch has been done on gm, ge, or gmo crops that prove it is safe. How can you say it is safe when there are so many flaws in the logic of even creating such a thing. The science is so unpredictable and unproven in the longterm. Try the gene gun a hundred times and eventually when you see a trait you want, then you have suceeded? Reallly?

  • Really, FDN, think of your credibility. There are plenty of reasons to oppose glyphosate-resistant GMOs that have scientific foundation. Use those.

  • The safety of GE crops has been extensively researched by hundreds of investigators for decades. If you are still opposed to GE crops on philosophical grounds, I respect that. However, the claims about a "new organism" and its relationship to glyphosate are as yet unsupported by any public evidence. None. If that doesn't raise any questions in your mind, we disagree as to the value of evidence in informing public policy.

  • Have you heard of the precautionary principle? Seven months? Is that all we should wait until betting on that a technology or chemical is fit for life? That flies in the face of other lessons we've learned with atomic and other technologies including DDT and dozens of other chemicals which we only recognize as being highly problematic years after their introduction and widespread use.

  • These claims of a new organism have been made for at least seven months, possibly longer. This is plenty of time to present the supporting evidence in a scientific meeting or in a refereed scientific journal. The fact that we are still waiting for the presentation of this evidence in a scientific venue, where experts can evaluate the strength of the evidence, raises serious questions about these claims. Can we please see the evidence? (Paul Vincelli, University of Kentucky)

  • pathogen it lives in the dirt our foods grown in...

  • Has the organism been named? What is it? Not a fungus?
