Incredible close accurate harmony. Most recording artists now would run a mile if they had to perform without the modern technical aids to ensure their voices sound good. This is not out of place nearly 75 years since the recording.

Once and for all people! This is yiddish! It is not supposed to sound like the German "schön". They pronounce it the right way. If this was German it would be "Für mich bist du schön". This sentence makes only sense in yiddish.

Yiddish is a german dialect. And the sentence makes sence in german! Yiddish is a middle age-version of german. Many jews left the german kindoms to east europe in middle age and kept this dialect. for a german, it sounds like a combination of switzergerman und dutch.

no it is not only a german dialect. It's an own language that is related to German. It has Hebrew, Czech, Polish; Russian and original Yiddish words in it. Also the grammar is very different. I know enough MIddle aged German texts to compare it and the grammar is just different. Of course you find more overlaps than with modern German but it is still not the same.

I first heard this song in the video game Bioshock and ever since then it's been a frantic search to get the song, lol. I enjoy these old songs so much and I loved Bioshock even more for having such a rich soundtrack with these old songs on it. It gave the game a very realistic feel to it.

Very nice! I love this song. It is from the 1933 Yiddish musical "I would If I could". This was their very first hit and went to #1 in January of 1938. It stayed #1 for five weeks, quite an accomplishment new comers. The Andrews Sisters (Patty, Maxene and LaVerne) went on to become the most popular female vocal group of the entire pre-1955 era.
