Anja Harteros contribution to this recording of Requiem is absolutely stunning. Might just get the CD.

Me too I like Pappano but bnot the cast.... The soprano is not adapted for this repertoire.... Mozart is good for her....She must work on her intonation. Povero Verdi....

It is true that she is a lyrical soprano and not a dramatic one.

But her prestation in this role is for me good enough

It seems that every version of Verdi's Requiem is marred by a bad tenor (Villazon, Bocelli) and Saved by the Mezzo and Soprano! Anja HArteros is the reason I'll probably think about buying this CD! I love her! Sonia Ganassi is a great singer too!

Perhaps it is interesting to try to hear

what is different from the other Verdi's Requiem, an approach more in agreement with Verdi? I can hear a fantastic mezzo, Soian Ganassi among other very good singers,. Rolando Villazon did a very good job considering it was before his surgery, even more painful for him. Systematic nagging is tiring. The CD is not yet released!So give it a chance!

I am not really impressed....the orchestra does not have the depth of tone as the Berlin Philharmonic. Pappano tends to chop his phrases, where Abbado molds them....but the biggest thing I hear is how much an orchestra can add to this piece...as the Berlin did in their recording with Abbado on the CD or DVD. The La Scala orchestra under Karajan had more depth and tone.....maybe an off night, perhaps thats the sound Pappano wants. I however do not agree.

Although I wouldt find Harteros on her place in Requiem...I love her voice, wonderfull singer...she seems to do a good job!!!!!!!

Hope she will ast long enough in the carreer.

Sometimes I'm scared she will not last for many years, intonation...
