Wait a minute....I just watched your other video in 13th gear.....how the HELL do you get into 13th gear?!?!?

It has a dual reduction house, so not only do you have low 4 wheel drive, you have low low 4 and put it in 1st and you are going that slow!

But it would be a 10 speed even if manual. Wouldn't it...? Not sure being I'm new to the 4x4 community. 13th gear is like having two 7 speed manual gearboxes..........right?

But that doesn't answer my question...is he indeed in 13th gear or is the gear ratio EQUIVALENT to 13th gear?? I'm just trying to understand this whole thing. I know what the transfer case is, not quite sure how it works, but what is a reduction box??

Prototypexl , on toyotas there is to parts to the transfer case,1st 1/2is the reduction box, it is what what allows either 1:1 (high range) or 2.28:1 (stock low range)the 2nd 1/2swaps between 2 or 4wd,both are controlled by the same shifter at the same time (stock set up).i'm not sure in this case what recution gear boxs r used (there is aftermarket boxs and you can swap in other makes and modles with ther right adaptors) but there is 2 reduction gear boxs infront of the stock transfer case.

Hey guys, thanks for all the comments! In the other video where I refer to Marlin's truck as being in 13th gear, it was analogous to a bicycle: Consider a 21 speed where you have 3 chainrings and a 7 gear cassette: You only have 7 gears at the cassette, yet there are 21 possible gear combinations thanks to the front 3 chain rings. Also, as ratios overlap, for instance 1st chain ring + 7th cog will be a higher ratio than the 2nd chain ring + 1st cog. Likewise, with Marlin's Triple Transfercases.
