To the haters: Epica is a great band. If Chuck where still around, he'd be proud of them for combining Death Metal and classical music. I know that their Crystal Mountain cover wasn't that great, but you should really try listening to some of their other songs. One of my favorites is "Consign to Oblivion".

By the way, it was this Epica cover that convinced me to listen to first Death.

This is why I can't listen to a lot of death metal. The music is often fantastic, but too many vocalists have this retarded singing voice. Death had it right, a growl, but not trying to sound like Satan with laryngitis. Clean vocals don't go with the music, I know, but this is just stupid. Are there any other good bands that don't sing this poorly that I'm missing? Its the only reason I can't listen to more Opeth as well.

You know, i know it's hard to play and sing but those vocals are coming off as really half-assed. Also, and this is the bigger point here, it looks like he's using a seven string. Chuck was against the use of those. Hopefully he muted that string the whole song.

@infinidominion Well, the song is originally played in dGCFAD tuning. If Epica down tune their seven strings, they can ignore the seventh string, but if they use the standard beADGBE tuning, they need to use the low string.
