Just picked up my 19. Thanks for the video, it was very informative. One question, when you store your pistol, do you store it with the trigger in the forward position, or in the fired position?
Thanks for the help man, one question tho ... can I use ABRO 80 to clean and lubricate my glock? or should the cleaner be a strong form of automotive carburetor cleaner spray? Thanks for the vid, thumbs up and shared!
Thanks for this great video! I am a first time gun owner and your video was very informative. I successfully disassembled, cleaned and put it back together by following your video. Much appreciated.
Hey i have a question what cleanin kit should i get? I have a 9mm model 19 and ie never cleaned my gun all though i really never shoot it but i think its time for a
Berz, I'd appreciate it if you could clarify something for me; you can clean around the firing pin with Ballistol, but don't want to get anything thicker near it? I've heard people screech about even getting Ballistol near the firing pin and other areas/mechanisms you mentioned. How long have you been cleaning your firing pin with Ballistol? During that time, you've never had any strange issues? Thanks in advance for the response.
thanks for the vid... i use hoppes on a brush and on the rod for my glock 17, dry it and then go over it with gun-scrubber (if you're familiar with these cleaners)... is that any different than that spray-cleaner you used?
I believe it would be best if you rack the slide with the ejection port facing forward the ground that way there is no or little risk of the shell (if there is one loaded) snagging on the ejection ramp and being set off....just saying
Thanks for the video, Cap'n. I just bought my first Glock and was wondering about its cleaning. Thanks to your informative video I now have a very good grasp of the details. Thanks a ton, brother.
@HLHFunFilms Thanks for the kind words. I try and get to the details for people who have not done it before, instead of acting like people assume much, cause in reality if people knew they would not be looking for the video...lol
@FireArmsResQ Thanks, I try to make the best training videos on here. I train people at my job on things and understand breaking down to basics is important... ;)
@aannkk I start on the chamber side and go forward on everything I clean. Glocks cleaning rod they give you does not have the ability to spin, I forget why, but I use one that spins. Usually I like to let is spin freely, the rod, when running the brush through because there is rifling in there...
I talked to a buddy of mine a (retired Army Veteran) and he said it's best not to put oil in the barrel of the gun. Because when you fire the oil will get hot making it hard to shoot straight, he suggested I put one drop of alcohol and dry it out. I noticed a slight discoloration on the metal pieces where I had put a very small amount of oil (polymer). Thought I would share this.
@Captncronica As a military veteran I can tell you that this is true. The oil will attract dust particles. This may not be important if the weapon is stored in a case, but when carried in the open it will attract and retain dirt and other particles.
First off great video, very informative. i just have a question about the Firing Pin Safety Check. i see when you took off the slide u pulled it back and eased it forward. Is that all there is too it? is there any concern about too much or too little pressure? if you could elaborate that would be awesome, thanks.
great video well done . you stuck to what is important ,the gun and the cleaning equipment. u didnt waste time with what wasnt important meaning showing yourself or the area you are in or anything like that. you concentrated on the weapon and slowly went thru everything. you took the time to go slowly thru everything about cleaning it .sometime you see training videos where people rush thru the stuff and it is hard to follow or keep up with. yours was great five stars
@jalbiie I am meticulous to begin with..lol...I train people in things at my job, so I usually make sure to demonstrate things so if you never did it, you could do it. Most of the time I succeed. lol...Thanks for the great words, appreciate it.
Ordered some Ballistol today from firehawktech - competitive pricing. Check out an interesting history of this oil/cleaner. There is a section about unusual uses that includes dippipng a shaving razor blade in some of this oil to significantly extend the razor's life.
Very good video Sir, I never clean my Glock 17, lol. Once in a while I just add lube and clean barrel. I figure it's like an AK47 and doesn't need to be cleaned.
@CaptainBerz One day I came home from the range and my girlfriend said are you going to clean those guns or are you going to come to bed, I choose the bed and never looked back. Now I don't clean them much.
Thanks a ton for the video, brother. I feel like I have a MUCH better understanding on the products now. It seems that using RemOil for everything from start to finish is a bad idea...which was information someone else had given me...
@UrbanCombatSurvivor Yea, I was not really getting into to many specifics. I guess I should do that, in regards to the gun. LOL! I will work on what to use and how to use video....
Nice. I'm thinking of getting the non-stray type of that cleaner. I've heard most gun guys on youtube are asked to do a cleaning video, and a gun safety video as well. Did you get a lot of requests for this?
@badjeep02 Guilty, I asked for a cleaning video, lol. I've seen a ton of them, but none that explained what the different oils and solvents were, exactly.
@badjeep02 Actually, I have two other cleaning videos made up of a M&P 45 and Taurus PT92, I am going out to shoot them and review, and will upload them like the glock 19...
right on... i just made a vid about detail strippin the slide........ doesnt hurt to do every 1,000-1,500 rounds or even sooner for a carry gun ya know....
