  • this song is my life i listen to it milion and milions of time and still make me pride to be alive thanks l l cool j from the bottom of my heart

  • one of the most under rated raps EVER!!! the verse about that chick renee is gold alone!!!

  • And I'm only 18 makin more than your pops. Classic.

  • Wanna wake up in the late 80s and walk the sunny streets of Florida bumping LL Cool J, 2 Live Crew, Grandmaster Flash, N.W.A, Too $hort and all the other classic acts that still have that 80s vibe in their early albums after two decades.

  • I got a magnifying glass and I brushed my beard!

  • Comment removed

  • ll s best track.that beat go hard then a mf.

  • this album is great it got to number 1 on hip hop albums chart in 87 it even bet public enemy boogie down productions and eric b & rakim

  • MY FAVORITE COOL J SONG

  • And "HIP-HOP" was "HIP-HOP", GOD-DAMNIT!!

SHEEP-SKIN COATS, MOCK-NECKS, CLARKS, CAZALS, & words like "DOWN-BY-LAW", THOROUGH, SUCKA-DUCK, "VICKED" & "GETTIN STIM" were heard commonly.

GRAFFITI COVERED SUBWAY CARS, FAB-FIVE FREDDY'S SPARK @ THE 42ND ST & 8TH AVE STATION WALL. CUTLASS SUPREMES on TRUES & VOGUES!

  • To have been a teen in the early-mid 80s & in N.Y.C. is IRREPLACE-ABLE!

    I LIVED THIS!

When Ed Koch was the Mayor, 42nd St (aka "THE 40-DOO-WOP) was a FREAK-SHOW, The Bronx was WILD-WILD-WEST & life was HARD AS HELL!

  • ALL I WANNA KNOW IS WHO PRESSED DISLIKE??? SMACK YO MAMA PLEASE

  • the days before guns held the trump card

  • I'll argue that this is LL's best song

  • One of the Best Rap songs that peeps never heard. this one and (LETS GO!!) by Kool Moe Dee

  • 2:20 bow wow stole this

  • do away with the ligths, after 5 minutes or more you hear me say thats rigth!!!!!

  • this was jr's shit back in the day

  • This Def Jam is the best LL song on the album. It's my fav of all time. He should perform ta Doo Wop on the awards to show these wack EMCEE'Z how he get down back in ta day. LL on of the greatest rappers ever!!!

  • My fav LL song of all time!!!!!

  • @luckyleffty Mine too.

  • This is definitely one of LL's best. The reason it didn't come out as a single is because it didn't have a hook ( just dope rhymes from start to finish.... 5 minutes, ole school style). I'm gonna count the bars one day. He had at least 2 other songs on the album that had rhymes from start to finish on that album (1) "My rhyme aint done" which actually had a hook (kinda) and (2) "The Breakthrough"

  • THIS WAS MY JAM BACK IN THE DAY!

  • 1987 kids.

  • L.L. has iced all the washed up slobs

Vigilante of rap, so to hell with the mob

Don't run from the cops, makin suckers jock

And I'm only 18 makin more than your pops!

  • @JORBEA he made moe dee madd wit dat line......

  • I COULD NEVER UNDERSTAND WHY THIS JOINT DIDN'T GET THE LOVE IT DESERVED. I GUESS BACK THEN IT WAS SOOOOOOOO MANY HOT JOINTS OUT THAT THIS SONG COULD EASILY FALL UNDER THE RADAR. NONETHELESS IT'S HOT..................VERY CREATIVE L.

  • Def Jam TRULY missed their mark by not releasing this song as a single. Back in the days I was the ONLY one i knew that was blasting this joint.

  • @WOODYMACK66 x2

  • Dopest,Illest, tightest jam from back in the day.

  • Dis is my jam....<3 it!!

  • In my opinion this is LL HOTTEST Track that was never released as a single.

  • @WOODYMACK66 I agree 1,000,000%!!!

  • I've been listening to Hip Hop since day 1 or 2. This is the only rap song I EVER heard to use an old "do wop" in the back ground. I just "dope" back then. Still just as "def" today. Good music, art and GOOD Hip Hop only get better with time. PEACE

  • @aush1969 When i use to play that song i would close my eyes and invision how the video would be. Black & White with his posse in the backround singing the doo wop part.......LOL Sounds bug but i think it would've came off fly if it was done right.

  • Check out the lyrics. This one song has more words than LiL Wyanes's last two CDs. NO HOOKS , just one long verse.............AMAZING

  • Lovin u LL , lets mix it up baby x

  • The background is not Sincerely by the Moonglows, but Over and Over Again by the Moonglows. Two different songs with a similar background.

  • Always fukin love this xx

  • LL will always own the MIC!!

  • LL Kool J Will always B BIGGER BETTER & DEAFFER Back N the days I listen 2 LL 24/7 Now my pep"s cal me LL

  • still sounds just as fresh. love it.

  • this will alway's be dope, had it since 1985!!

  • @TheGeneralMoe Totally agree.......................to me this song was ahead of it's time. Hip Hop today lacks creativity not to mention lyrical content

  • Was my favorite track on this CLASSIC record. Much respect to LL Cool J!

  • @37stepp Same here. I would fast forward through the tape to get to this song

  • i got this record for my 12 year xmas thanks ll

  • My main ish from LL

  • love this shit!!! now and then...what!

  • This was so creative, with LL giving a nod to Doo Wop, which had been the sounds from the streets in the 50's, just as Hip Hop would become 20 years later.

  • does anyone know what sample is that he uses?

  • Sincerely by The Moonglows

  • Does anyone know what sample he uses on this song?

  • then i made my approach

i said ya got a good team girl

but you need a new coach

  • Dissident, its threw my "sex role" on....that why he was pouring wine... and its "sure shot" hardcore. Sure shot was a popular phrase back then

  • Corrections:

    HIT my remote control....

    threw my Cesro on...

    Brownhill Cavernet Sovignon...

    I ain't down with Sheaks...

since I had a hour plus a half attached...

you adore my show a shot hardcore...

  • it's more than golden, it's everlast... that's LL baby.

  • Dope Shit! Still good today!

  • come on man, this is 1 of Cool J's best flow'n rhymes, it almost sounds like he free styled this rhyme (but I dont think he did its to long) but he def ripped this joint, and the sample is great too, I head the original version and to here LL rip dis joint he did his thing

  • This cut was the one of the best LL ever dropped, the imagery is awesome.

  • nigga spit for almost 5 min

  • @shortywopski I bet you he could have spit for another 20 mins,,,,,The boy L.L was *Bad* in his prime

  • Sickening!! The illest bassline!!

  • Old skool hip hop legend.

  • Love the "bragging" era of Hip-hop, yea almost everybody did it but atleast they were versatile and good at it, and LL was probably the greatest rapper around this time, now he's fell off a lil.

  • that's Sincerly -The Moonglows- Chess Records

in the backround !!!! 1954 ERIK VON

  • Much much betta than the shit we hear from lame rappers these days.. L L ..HARD AS HELL

  • 1of best rappers the biz then and now

  • Just another X-ample of why L iz duh G.O.A.T!!!!!!

  • ooo oo ooooooo oo we doooo!

  • LL is still the man.

  • beat iz illlllllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!! to this day!!!

  • Yall put the hottest non-played rap song...that showed the universalness of HIP HOP!! That that shiiiii....

  • Hey Cedcain... I agree with you 100%. This is the hotest and slickest shit when it is played on a good music system with lots of deep base. Happy 2009 everybody.

  • its very rare that LL writes a rhyme with a storyline, he never does that..I miss the old LL circa 1985 to 1990..Kool Moe Dee needs to come back and test him again..I believed that Moe Dee brought out the best in LL str8 up!!

  • He still uses storylines...He did it on GOAT, Todd Smith

  • @kendre3 DAMN I WROTE THIS 3 YEARS AGO LOL

  • no other rapper even came close 2 LL, this was him at his best, no doubt.

  • Ahh this was the jam... this entire *cassette* cruising in my boyfriends lowered mini truck with the *kickers* thumpin down main street in Monterey... I saw LL at the Def Jam festival and it was fantastic!! Thanks for posting this!

  • this shit is especially dope considering homeboy is only 18 a the time. yool.

  • good beat

  • I was in middle school when this song came out... man the memories.

You just smile and nodded your head in tune with the music you're wonderful LL

  • Unlike his so called adversaries ..L L JUST GETS BIGGA N DEFFA...

  • I remember this song like it was yesterday- not many was killin' it like "L" back in the day. This song is a prefect example of what Hip Hop really is, not that fake azz, down low, gay azz, gangsta wantabe's, no talent, no creativity, halfway thugs, that's fucking up the rap game...

  • Ah, the old school K-Day times!

  • I never get tired of this song!

  • This is a classic...one of my favorites on the album. Lovely!

  • LL at his best! The dopest, truest, most braggadocio line ever:
