  • This is so flippin'.. HAPPY!

  • muy duro...

  • amazing, looks like he's taking a dump while on acid mind.. :-)

  • great technique

  • Nicely played. I admire anyone who can play even one song on a Stick. He's really getting into this.

When the video started, I thought the voice sounded like Jim Gaffigan ("hot pockets").

  • bello schifo

  • man he is sooo into it!

  • he is so awesome he "WOW"s himself @ 1:24

  • 1 6 2 5 1 6 2 5 1 6 2 5 1 6 2 5 1 6 2 5 1 6 2 5

God damnit I feel like I'm in the fifties.

  • @ConceptOfAHuman lol @ the chord progression

  • funny ha ha or funny real good?

  • You are one bad mutha-shut-my-mouth!

  • Holy shit! I am just discovering this amazing instrument! I WANT ONE!!!!

  • sick guy! amazing compo!

  • I like his playing but....was he in front of a bingo or why only elder people?

  • everybody who has a negative comment sucks. this rocks!

  • Kevin Nealon

  • must be a bitch to tune

  • I'm selling my chapman stick.

Don't hesitate contact me for further details.

  • I used to play one of these but the lack of tension on the strings made me yearn for the standard guitar again so I sold it! It's one of those weird instruments that will never quite catch on.

  • Sounded just OK. I've seen a couple of others. While technically the fingering was as good in the others, in this one the bass came off too thin sounding and in some parts there was more sustain than there should be.

It seems to me that if set up correctly it is as good as a bass and guitar. I can play both but not at the same time.

Kind of amazing. Those that would ridicule can't probably even play rhythm guitar.

  • these comments are hillarious...cant stop laphing...

  • great!

  • yes it's impressive, but it doesn't sound as good as a bass and a guitar separately playing together.

  • @Smadlin01 But that's entirely missing the (a?) point of the instrument. It's about musical cohesion, not trying to emulate a bass player and a guitarist. I'm sure two pianists, each dedicated to a separate clef, would be able to pay more attention to the details of each part. Would it more musically cohesive then a single pianist though?

  • Henry Winkler?

  • i was expecting the joe jackson song, and i got bill belichick's spring job.

  • Looks like the audience were bused in from a psych clinic to watch the one that escaped and made it big.

  • be my teacher!

  • What on earth is that thing?

  • That´s a Chapman Stick.

  • @dudeglove chapman stick

  • Imagine tabbing out songs on the chapman. Glad it's not my job to do.

  • Kinda cornball. But there is a need for happy, goofy musicians given the general musical climate.

  • awesome instrument

  • Good stuff! I can't help but think though, Michael McKean would do a great parody of this guy.

  • no mosh pit with that crowd

  • The Chapmanstick ROCKS!

For another great innovative instrument you HAVE to check RHYTHMTANDEM.

  • he gets a bit too happy playing with a big stick

  • he's the white stanley jordan of the chapman stick!

  • like a kid but funny

  • man i love the chapman stick i gotta get me one theyre so unique sounding and take quite some skill to play. awesome!!!!!!!!

  • realy nice! He looks realy happy when he got musical spasms.

  • u would be too when u havent gotten laid ..ever!!!

  • if I was in the audience I would be getting uncomfortable. Wondering if perhaps I had walked in on something private. LOL! Seriously, he does have mad skills.

  • I think he loves that thing a little tooooo much. J/K

  • I'm impressed with his skills, but not the song.

  • Thank you.The music listen With enormous pleasure in your performance.

  • that sounds very nice!!!

  • man his face is so funny, but great execution

  • go check out victor wooten on "Norwegian Wood" 4 strings man

  • lol

  • Be a big hit on the Brady Bunch..didnt they get any good acid up in Sacramento?

  • the chapman stick is the new 12 string guitar. you're gonna see this thing everywhere in several years when guitars will be incapable of providing the freeedom of musical expansion.

  • Yeah, but don't limit it to the CS. Think of the touch technique in general. So think, Chapman Stick, Mobius Megatar, Warr, Santucci TrebleBass, Solene Tube, Ztar, regular guitars everywhere, numerous custom made guitar/basses, etc.

  • i like the stick ..i also would like to see someone who plays with a wide vibrato i hav yet t0 see anyone use a nice wide vibrato on one and make it sound good....

  • tony levin

  • i wanna know which multieffects he's playing with ??? not a boss gt6 ?

  • dude rules. this instrument baffles me.

  • pretty awesome... for his skill level Id say he played it quite sloppy.

  • i give it a TEN A FUCKIN TEN!

  • 0:40 "Betcha can't play this, fag!" :D

    awesome video!

  • na, it's quite natural that people do freaky faces while playing hard stuff.. look at the guitarrist of the boehse onkelz, he always does freaky stuff and cant controll it.. when I play funk i also shake my body to the rhythm and can't stop it :D

  • i love that the chapman stick in the right hands is always beautiful

  • haha thats fuckin cool!!!

  • What the...? Incredible ^-^

  • how the hell do you play something that crazy...

  • are you guys deaf?

  • im guessing your part of the band? consiering ive seen the same comment several times...

  • CRIKEY!

  • That's incredible, I play guitar and bass and keeping the two hands consistent and independent is insanely hard

  • Everybody who plays piano does it.

  • Hell, jazz organists play bassline with their left hand, melody with their right, rythym and harmony with their feet. Two parts? Try four.

  • dam. i have new respect for them.

  • HERB!!!

  • this shit owns. i'm stoned as hell for the first time in over a month. yes.

  • i play guitar and bass, but never could play one of these things. there is something really facinating about them though.

  • there must be 30/40 frets!

  • 26 if it's a standard grand stick

  • love you're hair! At least you still have some. Nice playing.

  • does anybody know wtf is the tunning of this thing? it really looks like a piano on stick!LOL!

  • thats essential what it is

  • The standard tuning is E A D G C F# B E A D

  • so, a 6 string Bass+a standard guitar-body=chapman stick. . .AWESOME. I can fire my guitarist now.

  • @Dedaluminus 12 string

  • @jordantessier25 6 string bass+standard guitar (six strings also)=chapman stick= 12 string. YAY WE CAN DO MATH

  • Very nice playing.

lol @ all the old people in the crowd - What gives?

  • TheDonBLYND: LMAO!! That's exactly what I was thinking ... Hilarious. Freakin awesome peice, this is the first I've ever seen of a chapman stick

  • his expression is something between "hey this is fun" and "i feel great knowing that none of you can play this"

  • I'd give a tear for his glory.

  • yeah i can't play this~

  • what's the name of this instrument?

[ i'm the idiot who ask for the name of the instrument ]

  • Its called Chapman stick

It was invented by some dude called chapman, try searc it from wikipedia to learn more of it

  • this is the fucking weirdest thing i have ever seen hahahah. what a cool kooky dad this block would make (one too meany trips?)

  • I love the 2-5-1 turnaround digital patterns through the whole song. Good stuff.

  • uhhh...wow this video put me in a trance...amazingly talented.

  • i love the irony of an instrument called "the stick" held in the lap by a stick. nice playing man

  • haha have to hand it to him hes a really talented musician and the stuff is pretty catchy but look at the crowd haha priceless...

  • Like it? Like it? I love it man! God this must be the instrument that God plays when he wants to chill out.. You really know how to groove man and youtube is really like the next 'internet' because it's exposed so many new things..

  • Those facial expressions must make playing harder because they are so forced. Also I have doubts that there was an audience there...

  • Roflmao, pause the video at any point of this video and just laugh at his facial expressions, they're so funny...

  • Roflmao, pause the video at any point of this video and just laugh at it....

  • Thanks to everyone for your comments about my video. For the most part, the comments have been overwhelmingly positive and I enjoy them all- both positive and constructive criticism. I love to approve all complimentary comments. But if folks still feel they want to complain or say something nasty- please- have the decency to use bad grammar and lousy punctuation so I can make fun of you when I respond to your comments. Aloha!

  • WOW men you are very very good bass player.. congratulation ! I´m a venezuelan bass player , and I´m working on tapping , I would like to know if you have books or something , I really like to play like you men!! my email.

  • props on playing a stick but this guys needs metronome practice. Cheesey sounds too. 1 6 2 5 is not an original. I liked it better when it was "i got rhythm" which this guys hasn't

  • but the thing is ..is i know this guy! you no know nanny

    .

  • i wanna dance! awesome.. keep lovin' it

  • this guy is incredibly cocky, good playing though

  • How does he manage to have the melody with the weird chorus-y effects with a still clean bassline?

Are the 2 pickups/outputs on the stick?

  • Yeah, it has a stereo output.

  • sterio outputs! e stuff of dreams! lol

  • good faces!! timbric search is not my taste!!!!!!! heheh

  • Wonderful! Just wonderful! Hope one day I can even try to come close to something like this on my Stick! What great talent!

  • All stick players have a time issue. Also, I looked at this cause I thought it was a cover of Joe Jackson's 80's amazing tune 'Steppin Out'.

  • time issue? #1 no time issue. counting issue on your part. geta metronome and set it up,causethis tuneisdead on. second, "all stuck players?" i don't believe you'veheard all stick players. couldbe wrong, but i doubt it. and moreover, check out the tappistry album. i challange you to find one time flaw on tappistry volume 1. i challange you

  • i agree fully, this guy is on point.
