  • NICE

  • And she was right to made this record. One of the best songs ever performed.

  • My precious father died last year, and as a child in the 1970's I spent many happy hours listening to the seekers. We played two seekers songs at dad's funeral last year - The water is wide and a world of our own! BEAUTIFUL

  • lol

  • The Seekers - they seeked - and found fantastic songs for us to hear!

  • my fav lady singer what a voice

  • It's an ancient Russian folk song of XIX century. We Russians used to sing it all together on parties - it's a sort of drinking song. So funny to hear the Seekers' naive lyrics as it too far from the original one (look it in Wikipedia's article Stenka Razin. To listen to ORIGINAL RUSSIAN FOLK SONG just search in YouTube: Song of Stenka Razin. Russian folk song

  • Here is the x factor.

  • This video went viral on Botswana

  • Such a wonderful singer love forever

  • A moving song in the way of traditional tunes which have survived the years. Makes you feel happier! I love Judith's voice. So clear and sweet.

  • My best friend lost his battle with prostate cancer, he was 58 years old. Before he passed he asked me to pick a song to play at his funeral, leaving the choice up to me. I wanted a song sung by Judith, but it had to be a reflection on my friend and his personality, I chose this song. After I gave the Eulogy we palyed this song, there was not a dry eye in the Church. The Carnival is over, I will love him till I die.

  • @jjranch4 A perfect and fitting choice for your dear friend...there could'nt be a better song. You did so well to deliver the eulogy..I wish you strength, and happy days ahead. The sun will shine again - even though I don't know you I am sharing your pain and wishing you well.

  • @jjranch4 Well done you for delivering the Eulogy..that's not an easy thing to do. I don't know you, but your choice of music was superb, and I wish you strength and peace....the sun will shine again for you...I will light a candle for your friend, if that's ok.

  • @jjranch4 Orr matey lovely, just lovely, perfect I,m from england I grew up with this music awesome x

  • @jjranch4 What a very beautiful send-off that must have been. Sounds like the perfect choice for your friend!! Well done!

  • just watched her sing in a christmas concert and she looks like such a kind person :)

and may I say, at 68 years old she has still got it.

  • I'm having this played at my Funeral..........can't wait for it LOL xx

  • @47114711emma Hear Hear !

  • Good Lord, I am sitting alone with serious tears in my eyes wondering if there will ever be another group like the Seekers or Peter Paul and Mary? Or am I just getting too old? The 60s produced REAL music. Not like the over-rated crap we are fed with in the 00s!!

  • @MultiGeraghty well said

  • @MultiGeraghty At our Christmas fuddle in the office, a colleague played a 60s mix tape. I vaguely recognised the song as something my folks used to play. I Google the phrase "the carnival is over" and came to this video. Like you, I'm sitting here with a lump in my throat and my eyes watery. What a song! What a performance! What a slap in the face for anything that's in the charts at this moment in time.

  • @DoowlufLienNow your reply to my comment brought further tears to my eyes. You obviously have good taste in REAL music. Lang lebe ( long live) the music of the great 60s!!

  • - Выплыва-а-али расписны-ы-е Стеньки Ра-азина челны!

  • What a fantastic song! I have been listening to this song for the past 40 years and never get tired of it. Judith has a beautiful voice. This song brings back so many happy memories especially of friends who are no longer with us.

  • i agree with the whinknowe, never heard a more beautiful voice than judith durham's and it's highly possible i never will, AWESOME is a HUGE UNDERSTATEMENT of her magical talent. xxx.

  • Never fails to cause me to draw tears upon every listen, this is one of the greatest song of the 60's, & Judith Durham has one of the greatest voices ever!!

    BRILLIANT VIDEO!!!

  • This was my grandfather's favourite song, and it played at his funeral as the curtain closed.

    I miss you, grandad.

  • @viperhalberd was both my mum and grandad's favourite song, still brings tears to my eyes, I do intend to play this at some poind during my wedding (whenever that may be) so the spirts of my mum and grandad are there, as they can't be there in person

  • I cry when I hear her sing

  • Comment removed

  • Judith's voice is beautiful and timeless but don't disrespect everything new just because you stopped feeling the music years ago.

  • Used the tune of this to sing Love Divine at my wedding in 1975 - would like to get hold of the sheet music

  • fantastic voice judith durham i loved her then when i was fifteen years old and i still do voice like a nightingale there's very few lady singers come any near her quality i used to kiss the telly every time she was on the sixties were full of so many talented people who became legends in music [LONG LIVE THE WHO,STONES, BEATLES ,KINKS, THE SMALL FACES , HOLLIES, BEE GEES,MOODY BLUES, FLEETWOOD MAC.]

    this is pure awesomeness

  • beautiful song i love 60s music i was eight when this song came out made me cry i,m sat here with tears pouring down my face just lost my dad don,t know why but it made me think of him.

  • I was six years old when I first heard this, and for some reason it made me cry. Fifty years later, it still makes me cry. Absolutely beautiful!

  • @MrCharlieparrot I understand fully what you are saying, I am older than you but it had/has the same effect on me.

  • @MrCharlieparrot I understand fully what you are saying, I am older than you but it had/has the same effect on me.

  • this was music when music was music. lets be happy we were part of it

  • I was 10 years old when this was televised in Melbourne-there was not a dry eye in the house. This was their farewell song:(

  • The Carnival Is certainly over now that the 60's is gone. I am nearly 60 now and I remember the 60's with much affection, what has happened to this country.

  • Great to hear these wonderful memories of the 60's!!..my childhood days..Judith Durham had a unique voice for this type of music,

  • This was my xgirl friends song whean she was little she said her dad sang this to her i miss her this song will always be in my eye evean if she hates me this will always be your song sze min ong

  • What a beautiful voice!!

  • i missed a chance to see them on farewell tour in my city..something i will always regret. But i have fondest childhood memories of morningtown ride from early school days. There is such a warmth and goodness in their music. Bless x

  • I played this at my dad's funeral

  • sounds like the beginning of the beegees... lamplight...major problem for this lot were they couldn,t write there own songs..soon ran out of material and ended repeating the same old tunes...the girl should have hooked up with a major group or producer wasted here to a degree perfect pitch voice but these seekers songs never really exposed her true potential..great shame.

  • krasiva ochin dobre....my wife is russian and i started singing this she told me her late grandmother sang the russian song when she was a child we both cried...judith durham did you know was born with perfect pitch...very nice.

  • This is their best performance of this I think

  • Love Bruce's comment at the end....

  • I was 4 years old in South Africa when this song came out. Thanks music for being part of my life.

  • judith durham will never need autotune. what a phenomenal voice, the seekers really new how to write all time classic songs.

  • i was 2 when this came out,mum loved it and so do i, you could never get better music

  • What a lovely voice lovely song I remember it like yesterday

  • Originally it was song about legendary Russian rover Sten'ka Razin. This version totally different but very lovely!

  • Quite brilliant.

  • @born2late62 I agree. A voice like that you would think would come along but once in a lifetime. Thank goodness it was in our lifetime. She made the Seekers the super-group that they became! The Seekers were much lesser when Louissa Wiesling(?) was out front of the group!

  • Judith could sing me straight into Heaven itself!

  • To all listeners! A melody of this song is the old russian folk-song "Iz za ostrova na strezhen". The song is about old russian folk hero Stiepan Razin. He was a rebel leader and freedom fighter.

  • @MsResearcher2010

    100 % Stenka Razin Cover version! :)

  • @MsResearcher2010 Wow, can you tell me what Russian rebel MC Hammer's tune "Can't Touch This" relates to. :-)

  • @performancecraft No i can't. But i know the russian folk music pretty well, that's why i say so.

  • @MsResearcher2010 Almost right - the song is about a Ukranian Cossack warrior named Stenka Razin - indeed a Ukranian folg song about revolution and a call to arms. Banned in the Soviet Union for many years, ( Stalin put people to death for singing or playing it ).

  • @ChynaRider So! Why you decided that Stiepan Razin was "a Ukranian Cossack"? He was a cossack, but not a "Ukranian". His family was from great russian Don river! That is why he was Donskoy Cossack! The song "Stenka Razin" is not a Ukranian folk song too. Actually, it's not a folk song indeed! The author of the lyrics is D.M. Sadovnikov - russian poet and the writer.

  • omg shes awesome! im doing a project on her and if i dont get high marks im going to slap my teacher lol

  • Judy! Judy! Judy!

  • Whenever I hear this, it is about 5:30 Christmas Eve 1965 and I've got this on the radiogram. I can see my mum coming through the gate with the younger children, returning from last minute shopping; a magical moment forever imprinted on my memory.

  • @rabele123 yes i know what you mean remember seeing this therefarewell tour on tv in black and white one Sunday night at my grammars must of been about 10 then i think

  • @yorkshiretractors Where would we be without our memories? I can hardly believe it was all those years ago. I was 14 years old when I bought this, just before Christmas 1965 I believe.

  • @rabele123 i dont know about you buti i get a bit sad when i put this type on song on when we was both watching this all them years ago as a lad or lass folk had respect . but now all that as gone .just been to fuel up just now and the block there a lot older then me never said a word no thankyou or owt . it is not the sort of world i want owt to with .

  • @yorkshiretractors It's a nice kind of sadness called nostalgia. Don't give up because of unpleasant people; there will always be some of those. This lovely group sums up the best of that wonderful time, and they're not finished yet, judging by more recent postings on here. Enjoy your memories and look to the future.

  • o the memories so much so many times and again I'm off on my adventures again at 60

  • Thank god I have never heard a cover of this song.

  • Beautiful song. I wish they would have stayed together longer than the did.

  • Such good memories they were the day,s x

  • Such good memories they were the day,s

  • it saden me to hear this was therefarewell tour it great song love it . i do feel sad went i hear this song

  • This is one of my most enduring memories of childhood. Even at the tender age of 8 I realised how beautiful this song is and how beautifully sung with just the most perfect voice. Happy memories of a bygone age and happy days of carefree childhood.. Peace, love and respect to all.

  • lovely sounds, lovely musics, lovely singer.....

  • i think i heard this when i woz in my mums stomach as i woz born in october of 68 :-)

  • I was 3 and a half when this came out, yet this takes me back to those carefree times of childhood, what a wonderful voice judith has, bet they won't be saying this in 40+ years about lady gaga !!

  • @loosewheels1000 I was 8. Saw Judith live at the Bristol Hippodrome in 2003 & her voice was a good as ever.

  • @loosewheels1000

  • Comment removed

  • I was expecting Transforming jet planes but this is good.

  • Judith Durham used to sing in the Salvation Army, a wonderful clear voice

  • I was 6 when this was out... So many memories.. Its these memories I will treasure rather than the ones of nowadays.. :)

  • I was 9 when this was being played, so many memories love it

  • I was minus 10 when this came out lol x

  • loved it when i was 12 and still do

  • really takes me back - also sang a song at Sunday School Anniversary to this tune!!

  • how cool??

  • Judith Durham was one of the purist vocalists of her age. Going back now to revisit the Seekers songs, has been as good as it was over 40 years ago. Thank you for loading. Magic

  • I was about 10 when this came out and didn't like the song. However, watching it now (in my 50's) I realise what a beautiful song it is, sung by a beautiful woman.

  • What is this for kind of cabaret?

  • i was only three when this happened but i used to fall asleep to it as my mum and dad played the LP they had.

    beautiful, effortless vocal.

i could listen to it all night

    thanks

  • is this a funeral song?

    sang so beautiful

  • @zaiya121 It is a love song

  • a beautyful woman with a beautyful voice all the love from holland

  • nice and cool????

  • Music grows and changes. Just because it's different now doesn't mean it's rubbish. Personal taste in music is broad and varied, always has been. Appreciate the music you enjoy and stop trying to judge others for liking music that you don't.

  • I just get over talent wherever or what ever it is..except the rubbish the kids now days play.what sweet songs can they sing years ahead to their grandchildren..doff doff and songs that american based

  • The Seekers had CLASS.... we knew them in the late 60's. Thank you for the hours of good music you gave the world.

  • I'm french and I don't remember how many times I played this tube, lol.

    Fantastic song, yeah.

    Nick from Paris

  • Beautifully rendered, with a professional operatic voice that hits the high notes flawlessly. This is one of those ballads that want to make you put your head in a gas oven. Depressing as all hell. lol.

  • Lady Gaga eat your heart out.

  • Fantastic song - it has reduces me to tears - it's not so much the lyrics but the tune

the other one that does the same is 'Ragdoll' by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons

  • why watch the video Dann!!! its called tallent, go back to your rap, yuk.

  • @merc500clk Is it me, you're talking to? I can't remember what you're replying to, but I assure you, I have nothing but ptaise for this song and hate rap. So, if it was for me, then find my reply and read again, 'cause something clearly went wrong.

  • Beautiful. Thank you.

  • i was newly married when the seekers were very popular. Now that my wife has recently passed away, i came across this band again and tears just keep flowing as i remember our early years. tks for loading.

  • I was just thinking but I wish we could geta trio of Judith, Dusty and Petula!

  • The saddest song ever written, I turn to jelly just thinking about it!!!

  • Judith you sound like an angel, was 14 when this came out ,a'h the old days.

  • Judith Durham, one of the best female singers ever !!! The Seekers and P,P and M The best popular folk groups ever!!! Check out the "Seekers" two guitars, "Guild"... Just cant get any better...............

  • It's a pity bands and artists today no longer care about live stage and musical quality. In those days only the true talens made it. What do we get today? A lot of studio work, a bunch of fireworks and makeup, and lady gaga dressed as a slutty nun.

What a FANTASTIC song this is!!! I cry to it every time.

  • Roy Orbison and Judith Durham. The ultimate duet that never was.

  • I was 5 years old in 1965 and I remember this from back then. There was a teenage girl in my street who looked just like Judith Durham, and as a 5 year old I was utterly convinced the girl on the telly singing this song lived in my street............I wonder where that is girl is now???!

Anyway, wherever Judith is now, thank you Jude, for such a lovely song and for such a lovely memory.

  • vivid d.c. Don't you dare try to compare the Beatles with The Seekers. The Seekers ARE STILL GOING STRONG AFTER MORE THAN 40 YEARS. The Beatles were dead and buried in 1964. K.J. Edmonton.

  • This type of music would usually do nothing for me, but theirs something special about this, I think its her voice.

  • I knew Judith when I was 6 and she was 16. I didn't realise until some years later that Judith was that wonderful girl in The Seekers - I have been and will continue to be a lifelong fan.

  • love this song

  • Beautiful..so clear...why can't we get a DVD of all these great 60's songs..??

  • O M G..I met Judith today she came into my store and purchased some hair products..What a lovely human being..I was born when this song came out..From today I'm the biggest fan :))

  • the year i was BORN,,!!!!!!!!!

  • Grew up listening to The Seekers then the New Seekers , Love them both , Judith has an amazing voice..

  • I wish people would just enjoy what was and not generalize about "today's crap," where some artists are just as talented as they have ever been...even in "the good old days."

  • I'm a 31 year old man who never heard of The Seekers until about 3 days ago. I just watched this for the first time...I'm man enough to admit that Judith made me cry like a bairn. MUCH respect to this beautiful and talented group!

  • Nicht schlecht für die 68iger.Immer wieder schön zu hören.

  • cant stop playing this song since i found it.i remember it just.

  • @mcfcchris63 knob

  • av just found this gem of a song.wot a voice

  • Always reminds me of being a kid at my nans! Great stuff!

  • ALL OUR HEARTS ARE BEATING THANKS PROCULLED

  • This women in a class of her own. [fantastis]

  • such perfection never ever will be equalled

  • @davesdolphins06 - Thats what I thought until i heard this lady sing. Dont get me wrong Judith is one of the very best but keep an open mind. "Sissel Kyrkjebø - You`ll Never Walk Alone" Just listen to the voice of this lady and post an honest reply.

  • @miner1961 i listened to the song and singer you asked me too and she is indeed a wonderful talent and greatly gifted singer and i will listen to a lot more of her in the future i thank you for putting her music my way as for who is better i will forever be a judith fan but your lass is indeed a star they should both be enjoyed for what they are beautiful singers

  • @miner1961 I agree with you, I've heard Sissel Kyrkjebo Singin you'll never walk alone and sh has a truly remarkable voice, but am I correct in stating that Sissel Kyrkjebo, is, fiorst and foremost an Operatic Singer and is classically trained ?

AS for YNWA Nothing sounds as good as the kop in full voice! ; )

  • I remember the Seekers farewell concert in 1968 and I was only 3 years old I was a teenie bopper! and I have loved Judith, Keith, Bruce Athol ever since.

In fact Judith is the first woman singer I can ever consiously remember. Morningtown Ride was my lullaby to sleep. I always recognise Judith's unique voice instantly.

  • wonderful memory! i was on a trip through great britain with my best friend. we were totally lost and have walked about 4 hours without any plan. An old man came with his car and picked us up. they played that song in the radio and the old man sang it. that was a moment in that i was totally happy
