To anyone who doubts the talents of this band, listen to Octavarium from their album of the same name. I have to admit, LaBrie's vocals don't really fit the mood of this song, but believe me, he doesn't suck as a vocalist.

Not bad but the vocals sound rather to fey and effeminate for my taste. At the end of the day, although Gilmour could do "ethereal", he always sounded like a MAN.

People need to realize that when DG did this live he had 12 people on the stage. DT literally has the 5. This is incredibly impressive. It's also a cover, not a recreation.

@dakruglyak Not quite 12 people... it was just the 4 of them playing Live in Pompeii back in the 70s. Although his latest versions live were in a 6-piece band.

It's quite a good cover of a the classic sound though

The guitarist lost the rhythm..listen from 4.35. At 4.45 he is already delayed. The whole band had to rearrange the time because of him...what an asshole! And the singer really sucks for this song.

But well.. both of them had to do David Gilmour's job.. Almost impossible to do. I think they did a good job with Dark Side cover.

Perfect song, but horrible cover. Dream Theater is a wonderful band, but only as long as they remain in the metal.

I just can't listen their Floyd covers... Dave Gilmour (few, expressive notes) is exactly the opposite of John Petrucci (too many notes, no expression).

(The worst are their Deep Purple cover, however... :) )

@AgoAnselmo I've seen lots of people stating that John Petrucci hs no expression and no "feel" but that's not true. Though noone can be compared to Gilmour's feel, I could still argue to death that petrucci do have a certain feel. Just listen to the solo in Hollow Years for an instance! :D
