@ZakothX Nope this is the Pure version of the track, however I do understand why you'd think it was but the Hybrid version is a lot heavier in terms of the rhythm and beats of the music =)
I love both Gary Numan and Marilyn Manon. Though .. I must say .. after hearing Gary Numan, Manson's music will sound pretty overproduced. I love the man, not his music. But Gay Numan .. gotta love that man and his music! Props to both of them, too bad corporate radio abuses tracks ..
Some people here are 'sad'.ttalking about suicide!! Numan i.e Gary Webb a normal lad who just likes music and as is his want sings about human life in general. As all music does. This means none of us can comment on what Gary was thinking or projecting. He is just making music others inerpritate and most times wrong! i.e. Nostridamus!!!
I so happen to be a Christian, and I enjoy most of Numan's music. This song is no different. Regardless of its message, or whatever Gary believe's doesn't sway me one way or the other. Just as my beliefs won't change anyone, or sway anyone. Still I know a good song when I hear it. This is, and I like it.
@Sambarre Well said! I agree. Why others have to use him and his music as an anti-religon or anti-God theme, i dont know, but they should keep their hate of God to themselves because Gary isnt trying to raise up a satanic army....He is just writing from various perspectives...basically just making use of sound and making music........not trying to win the world over for satan! He's just another one of Gods creatures making sound creative, and we enjoy him and his music.
I think the intro to this sounds a bit like We're In This Together by Nine Inch Nails. I'm not accusing him of ripping Trent off, just an observation.
Manson's interesting, but the dark side of his music stems from a nihilistic cynicism about the vacuous and amoral nature of consumer society. Once you get that there's nothing very shocking or scary about him.
Numan's darkness really seems to stem from deep ontological/spiritual traumas he's really experienced. The music sounds like it's a catharsis for him. Like Koestler said, if you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back into you....
@drstrobe2 Lol. Marilyn Manson is a great business man, nothing more. He knows how to market his music through shock value. Actually in person, I hear he's a pretty intelligent, congenial guy.
@drstrobe2 As an Aspergerian, like Numan, I can understand where he comes from quite well, we all share an interesting insight into humanity, and such insight either helps us or destroys us. I believe that is part of why we have an extremely high suicide rate, it has been estimated at least 25% of us have attempted suicide, and an unknown amount have succeeded, it is not a very easy life we lead. To be honest I hate this song, for it reminds me of the terrible beautiful darknes
@drstrobe2 You must be a psychology major.(?). i agree with what you said in your second paragraph of Numan. I think he has true and very deep haunting pain. I have looked into that abyss...it is excruciating and there seems to be no escape or hope and it has no sides or bottom...it is bottomless! Thank God I remembered to look up again. There is no worse place than that! Very gripping and torturous...tormenting!
@DominionDayME And while in that pitch black place it goes something like this song. I think he has been there! The things that you feel and doubt! From my experience, and listening to this song and others of his I beleive He has taken a very good long look into that abyss....it threatens to swallow you up and keep you hostage there!
Interesting comments- I think we're onto something about where Numan's darkness originates from. And no, I'm not a psychologist, but I think I've had a glimpse of that abyss, and it was a powerful and terrifying experience... Just keep looking up, man! : )
Music is all about preference, my friend. Manson might not be your cup of ginseng enriched tea, but it can be for someone else.. many do not like Gary Numan, even though we find his music to be amazing. It's just the taste one has in sound. :]
Isn't this the hybrid mix?
