If you've paid any attention to quality at all, you'll notice that RMVB absolutely sucks all the black level out of the original VOB leaving you only a washed out grey. Also, textures tend to drop out giving you what looks like a watercolour painting. It's crappy since the get go, but Asians used it just because they insist it makes big movies small. (XviD could have done the same thing.) H264/AVC is definitely the way to go.
The SmartQ 5 is already using "Ubuntu Mid" (at least a form of) with LXDE for desktop, just that SmartQ has only resorted to sending out the initial batches with Chinese simplified only despite a distro like Ubuntu being generally a multi-language OS . English is coming.
Yes it can play the AVI divx and all the usual formats like a good regular PMP can with MPlayer.

NO... PLEASE... no horrible RMVB. Just give us XviD or if possible, x264 in ordinary AVI. RMVB is the pits, ask any leecher.

come on, rmvb is the most famous video format in Hong Kong and umpcfever is a Hong Kong based wepsite. it is no problem to test the rmvb video clip

Common' It's Ubuntu, so like the OS on your computer I think you can install, langage, others video player or music player like vlc, amarok etc..
Or even Firefox and flash plugins. I've just ordered mine so I'll try this when I'll get it
