Ok, well you know how normal RPGs are about a noble hero trying to save the world? This one is pretty much the same, but with a biiiiiiiig difference- the main character, the Bard, doesn't really care about the world. He cares about money, women, and getting drunk off his ass, but not about saving the world. In fact, on the back of the game case, there's a funny picture.

There's a crossroads. One sign points to the right saying "Save the world" and another points to the left saying "Coin and Cleavage" and you see the Bard is already running down that path. Google that pic if you can- it's funny.

The game is an RPG, and offers different weapons, a leveling system, and a unique use of magic, in that you can play a song to summon allies rather than casting a spell to do something. You can choose dialogue options like other RPGs.

And the bard saves the world!

Exactly. And, Bard's Tale was the funniest game I ever played. Well.... one of the funniest. Madworld is damn hilarious too! Check that out, if you can. It's about a gameshow that's designed to kill it's participants. Dark right? It actually isn't. Though the game was criticized for being too violent, it's actually very much "Tom and Jerry" like violence- only with blood. But the real treat of the game, is the announcers. They break the fourth wall often, and are hilarious!

@herofromthedark: Those who say graphics are everything should look at Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Goldeneye 007 and tell you straight up if those are bad because the graphics might not be the best by todays standards. If they do that, they can't be true gamers as no-one I know would judge a game to be good or bad on graphics and if they bad-mouthed those 2 great games and this one on graphics, they need to work on thier gameplay because they must be rubbish at gaming.

Unfortunately, there ARE people like that. And the folks that care too much about graphics are probably twats that play only Madden and Halo games without ever broadening their horizons. It makes me sick! Video games are more popular now than they ever were, but there are still "gamers" that don't understand what makes a REAL video game, and sadly, game developers try to appeal to the masses- which tend to be people that don't understand that GAMEPLAY makes the game, not graphics.

I don't know, but if that is any indication, the game takes place on the Orkney Islands. But as far as I remember, there are all kinds of accents in the game, so it can be anything.
