ever heard of modding a car? i can guarantee that there are far more modded rsx's than si's. every single 8th gen si is still on warranty unless they have been modded. rsx's are now coming out of warranty because they are a little older. Meaning the only thing holding someone back from modding their car is the cost to do it. They no longer have to worry about voiding their warranty. if somebody mods their si they would be voiding their warranty, and most people dont want to risk that

most of the races between the SI's & TypeS's are bolton vs Bolton. i can see what your saying but in 02 they had review of both the SS Camaro & Firehawk firebird. they have had the same powertrain since 98. nothing different. they both even had the same suspension upgrade option that the factory offered. the Firehawk ended up being faster. so thats why i said you can have the same powertrain in 2 cars but 1 being faster.

Thats when it comes down to weight my friend. Most muscle car people dont really care much about how much their car weighs, but as little as 20 lbs can affect the time of the car by 1/10th of a second. The thing is, the si and rsx weigh practically the same. (2787 rsx, 2800 si) im assuming one weighed more than the other. (not gonna take the time to look it up)

an rsx that goes to a track is most definately modded, and is 100% the reason you see them win more often. for under 1000, you can get intake, headers, and exaust, which can bring the rsx's (and si's) 1/4 mile time from high 14's, to middle 13's... which is good enough to beat a new mustang gt. minor mods make the difference for sport compacts
