@niekalee305 I THINK it is lye has sodium hydroxide which is stronger and no lye has calcium hydroxide to preserve it on the shelves. You can google it to check though :)

GIRL!!! This is why I don't go to the salon anymore!!!! I relax at home with Mizani and it cost me 25 dollars for a big tub which last me a year!!! And since I haven't had a trim in a year I will have my hubby trim it on Monday when I do my relaxer! It looks good though sis!

Update!!!! I relaxed on Tuesday and had hubby trim my hair and guess what!?! he cut off 4 inches of my dang hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! check out my relaxer video to see the pics! I had to tell you after your situation and talking about not trusting stylist!! Sheessssh!!!

i'm a hair stylist....and it looks good...sometimes you have to be careful with layers because sometimes your hair grows faster in the middle,so it hangs past the nape area where hair tends to be shorter...some people trim at the shortest point. next time only get two layers and just trim the back...if that make any sense...i had the same problem with my hair.....still..your hair looks beautiful

some stylist don't know what trim means. they give you a full blown cut. your hair looks healthy though.

I understand how you feel. Afirm is a good relaxer but not the best. I found that it tends to dry your hair a bit and you dont feel the same moisture that you would normally have.

GIRL!! u got that pissed off look on ur face,,,listen i agree with the other ladies put ur foot down or start doing it urself, i have been doin my own hair for over 12 years and for the same reason Some of these hairstylist? i waited till i left the salon and cried in my car, but said said to myself this 2 shall pass (lol) but ur hair is still beautiful as always. I agree with Crsy1985 and Get2Joy. I have not entered a salon since August 2008. I asked for layers and it turned into a haircut (she actually cut it with a razor and shaved it wherein it was very uneven). Thanks to my YouTube sisters who share videos with us (such as you) I have learned how to take great care of my hair. I will never let a stylist touch my hair again. BTW, your hair is still gorgeous. I love the thickness and the length. You'll get back to BSL in no time at all.

Happy Birthday, your hair is beautiful as usual. When you said your stylist cut to much it took me back to when I told my stylist I wanted a trim and he cut 3-4 inches of my hair. That was five years ago I have never gone back to a hairstylist. If I need a trim I'll either have my mom do or I will do a self trim. I don't trust people with my hair anymore.

you should never get your hair trimmed or cut at a salon especially with stylist with shorter hair. they tend to purposely cut off more than you ask for out of jealousy. be careful.

Yeah...I would also say that your stylist is scissor happy...you really have to put your foot down when they try to trim...also, I am not a professional hair stylist but I do self relax and the key to good results is the smoothing technique...it should only take them about 5mins to get the relaxer in and then the other 10-15mins should be constant smoothing....and you are bound to get excellent results with almost any type of Lye relaxer....I self relax with Silk Elements and it never fails me!

yea they said your hair grows more in summer and less in winter :( So you should moisturize your hair alot in the winter! :)
