ehm no this is connecting two computers with a router/switch. You connect two computers with only 1 ethernetcable, it has to be a crossovercable as far as i know

You don't need a router at all. Connecting 2 computers directly will work just fine using the same subnet addressing and subnet mask.

if you want to connect 2 comp. than dont waste your money to buy a router. just directly connect the wire from one lan card to another lan card of another pc for lan gaming and if you want to internet than connect one more lan card in one pc and connect internet wire. 2 lan card in one comp 1 for internet cable and 1 for to connect to another pc lan card. if you want to connect one more pc than connect one more lan card in same comp which already contain 2 lan card and so on..
