  • Wonderful music! My daughter's name is Deirdre and this suits her very well!

  • One day I hope my homeland is at peace once more, and I can go there with my children and show them where they came from, and they can be as proud as I am.

  • I don't think those 3 people would have been negative if they had heard the entire cd. It just magically flows throughout the entire story. I don't usually like this type album...an entire album built around one story...but it is so beautiful. I am sorry my cd got 'lost' when someone borrowed it. I think they must have like it also. I never got it back. Thank you for posting this!

  • Using pictures from N. Spain is actually very apt, as the first inhabitants of Ireland came from there, particularly Cantabria and the Basque Country. Over 80% of Irish men today can trace their DNA back to the original inhabitants.

  • this is just... magical

  • irish pictures would have enhanced this video making it more mysterious :)

  • Where's the one called "two trees"? That one is amazing

  • lovely

  • I just learned the pennywhistle part of this...

  • that sounds pretty :D

  • If anyone knows the guitar chords or tab to this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

  • bellas fotografias.

  • Maravilloso Portafolio, la música simplemente espectacular.

    Un saludo.

  • Adoro esta canción. Hacía muchos años que no la escuchaba. Por ella escogí mi nick. :-) ¡Y además soy asturiana! Me encantan las fotos.

  • wow..

  • Ireland is amazing ! ( :

  • from where are all this pictures? Ireland?

God! another reason to go there

  • No, they're from the north of Spain :)

  • North of Spain? Wow, it seems that all the pictures have been taken in Ireland

  • @adhardehadres why would you put spain songs for irish music... Or is this music from spain?

  • @Dethclops7 Most people don't know it. But Spain is a celtic country, actually the origin of the celts. Celts migrated to the north to the "United Kingdom" :)

  • well these songs are really great! but I want to ask something: are these songs based to irish legends? sorry for my ignorance.

  • Yes, they are. :)

The album where this song is based on the legend of Deirdre. The Danna brothers later released a second album that is based on the legend of Lidain and Curithir.

  • thanks a lot! you really have great legends! :)

  • Could you tell me a bit about the legend of Deirdre and the legends of Lidain and Curithir?

  • Damn, I love Mychael Danna.

  • its simply beautiful

'the beauty amongst the sorrows' :)

  • i love the song and the video!!!

  • so beautiful

  • Thats my name baby!!!!

    Deirdre..

    take a look.

  • i love danna's music

he has a way of conveying things too beautiful for words

  • and i know that sounds cheesy/gay/cliche

    but its true

  • i completely agree.

  • i love your clips !!

  • Its a very nice song

  • people;

a violin and a fiddle are the same thing.

    trust me, i play.

the technique you use makes it different,

but they are the exact same instrument.

  • i play as well and theyre not the same thing

theyre differently designed, not substantially but there is a difference.

  • yeah violins and fiddles are different instruments. obviously you play but don't pay attention to anything

  • actually there is no difference. the classification is in musical style, not instrument. for instance, a violinist will play with the instrument to the side, where a fiddler will play with the instrument more to the front. also, a fiddler will commonly play two strings at once. some fiddlers will flatten the bridge of the instrument in order to more easily accomidate this, but there is really no difference in construction.

  • but mainly the style choice, not just posture

  • they aren't the different instruments; it's more of a style thing....ex. euphonium and baritone....it's a style choice. i play both so i know it can be confusing

  • they're the same instrument, it's just the style of music that is different.

  • No it isn't, my naive friend.

  • anybody know what tune that is with the violin that starts at 1:21 ?????

  • That's a fiddle, my good man.

  • its the same damn thing isn't it

  • el cd entero es precioso , es cautivadoramente emotiva , la primera vez que lo escuche sacudio mi corazon, y quede asombrado , fue el primer cd de musica celta que me compre y de alli no he dejado de admirar a esta clase de musica

  • help me please

    i need mychael danna's discography

if you can help me please answer

  • I've found your three videos of Mychael Danna - do you have any more or plan on uploading any more? Thanks so much for this beautiful music (and images)!

  • One of his earlier albums that I am pretty sure you won't find anymore is called "Planets, Stars and Galaxies" released in 1987 at the McLaughlin Planetarium in Toronto Ontario.

  • omg...this is sooo beautiful

  • album name? plz

  • i read it now ^^ thanks ;)

  • A celtic tale

  • Though this is not my favorite track of the CD (I've had it for years), it's still so indicative of the mental imagery invoked & built up through each song as it adds to the story (this is song#2 in the tale). My favorite is the mystically haunting Lament sung by Dierdre in the tale, with the final track of Two Trees tying the story together as only a destined romance can be tied -when love invites one last call, when death from life begins to fall. The brothers O'Danna have brought us magic.

  • This is by far my favorite song by Mychael Danna; better than even "The Blood of Cu Chulainn." The flutes sound beautiful especially acompanied by the other instruments.

All of the comment out of the way, I was wondering if someone could tell me the name of the album this song is off of. Thanks!

  • It's from 'A Celtic Tale: The Legend of Deirdre' ^^

  • I have this CD and love it. Great video!

  • This song is about deirdre, happiness is no factor. It is beautiful, sad and like most celtic songs knots your throat and catches your soul.

  • Beautiful and tragic. TY

  • I seea heart torn in two :-??

  • There is the torn heart and to the right a woman dancing or running.

  • Picture at 2:51 is stunning. At first glance it looks plain, until you see the image in the clouds.

  • u can drift with ur emotion litseing to this music..

  • Wonderful. This song is like something that is so amazing, it gives a wonderful feeling of happiness, and has a carfree air to it.

  • wow, wut a pasion!!....thats wut i feel when im dreaming!! i mean, that song is one of my dreams!!

  • It's part of my dreams also ^^. It touches the soul :)

  • yah its like a wave that hits ur sandcastle, and make u dreamback again to do another sandream xD.... Kisses.... Aly

  • Love this song so much thanks for that!

  • 1 word :) ... perfect ...
