Ralph Edwards certainly had it right when he predicted that Bob Barker would have a "bright future in television".........over half a century's worth!
Most of the Bob Barker clips were from the 1970's (and I suspect the remote segment was shot with one of the first ENG-type minicam units that could feed video back to the studio).
Before 1950, Truth or Consequences actually appeared on television once. It appeared as a one-time broadcast in 1941 on WNBT in New York to celebrate the beginning of television broadcasting.
i am looking for the episode from 1970/71 with Sugar Ray Robinson on it. I was a 6/7 year old in a red/white striped suit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Harlow Wilcox was the second announcer on the NBC radio version of "Truth or Consequences!". One of the announcers of the tv version was the show's associate producer..Mr.Charlie Lyons.
One thing that should be pointed out - among the early announcers of "T or C" when it was still a CBS Radio feature in New York was one Melvin Allen Israel, Ralph Edwards' friend, CBS staff announcer and roommate. Israel's sister Esther wrote for the show in its first year. This was at the time Israel did some baseball announcing on the CBS flagship in NYC of a local American League team, with whcih Israel - a k a Mel Allen - would be synonymous.

Every year from the early 1950's until just before his death, Ralph Edwards would visit Truth or Consequences, New Mexico for the annual "Town Day".
While there, he would often participate in public-service or charitable endeavors.

And 30 years later, Bob would become a total menace backstage on "The Price is Right". Yeah, great job, Mr. Edwards.
