I remember all too well the night that the STAR had its big riot...we heard all the way to The Junction, i asked my parents what all the noise was...lol....what a night it must of been...wish i hada been older..:))
Wish we could find someone who has live footage of heroes playing at the star The missus and I were there every time they played I did Peter dejongs smart artist poster and he may remember offering me his gold les paul and an ibanez iceman to swap for a black les paul that Mark Tinson got for me . We came down from Brisbane to see their reunion with DV8 and they're still awesome.. don't forget to play the Tommahawk Kid..
I have two more Heroes videos up in my channel, I've had them set to private for many months but they're now public. Check them out, They're for "Baby's Had A Taste" and "Tearin' Out My Heart"
Peter De Jong (Vocal) Mark Tinson, (Guitar) Jim Porteous (Bass), Phil Screen (Drums) were the Heroes and a fantastic live act. Saturday afternoons at the Star Hotel were legendary. You did not get to the bar just passed the money forward and the crowd passed back your drinks. Free great days. Shoulder to shoulder. Of course Sheen, SMall and Tinson were all in Rabbit with Evans. This is pub rock at its best. The Star and the Slaughter was written before the riot.
HA HA that is countdown for shure the STAR RIOT was a night to never forget, rip to my mates that rocked the place , what a time we had all of us YEAH
rock n roll newcastle style.the good old days v8 cars.bar beach and heeps of rocking live venues to play and see other bands.FUCK I MISS THE 70S AND 80S.RIP
a typical hard rocking newcastle (aust) based band that played at the last night of the infamous STAR hotel In newcastle that resulted in a ":riot"according to the local police. Footage of their last performance where there was admiitedly a little anti - social behaviour by a few of the pubs patrons....made the local and national tv.

NAh.. this is countdown. The band played at the back of the bar. The barmaid and bar was between the band and the crowd.
That place was free pub rock. never been a place like it.
All us regulars still miss it 30 years later.

is it Countdown or the last night of the Star Hotel? The audience look to sober for it to be the last night of the Star.

I really have no idea, It looks staged though since the police car comes in at the end.

That's what I figured. Looks like a Countdown crowd
