Ima a producer and i consider myself a hot producer to an extent and when i see these other producers channels with a nek and a miko it pisses me off becouse CLEARLY these wack youtube producers dont deserve it lol but its ok its all bout the skills at the end of the day
Sorry, but the new Neko is like 7,000 dollars? That is just too much while the studioblade from music computing is around 3,000 dollars maxed out. Plus the studioblade has more power and more controls.
The studioblade is something I looked at BUT I think these things are all hype. It's very pretty but if you sit and look at it for what it is, I'd get a good pc with 8/16 gigs ram - a fast motherboard which won't break the bank and a good soundcard. You can beat these systems quite easy. I know what people say, but i'm shaking my head here

Open Lan Neko? it'sjust a Computer, midi keyboard, audio interface, and softwares, and tthe price WTF? if you buy all this seperate it will be much cheaper.
i loaded gigastudio 4 on my neko xxl, works perfect with my mpc 4000. really sick. comes with 4 TB of hard drive space. I have 400 gb of gigastudio files on one hard drive.....the 4 hard drives is really useful.
i mean c'mon.. does this machine look like a wet dream or what.... but where will it end. are we always gonna be obsolete, slave to the next NEKO... AND THE NEXT AND THE NEXT? How much more than STELLAR can you get?
NEKO (Extreme) GEN 6 Ver1 will include Fader Automation Protools HD compatibility Windows 7 or Apple Mac Ver.?LOL, or maybe this isn't too far from the truth?
Tbh if i had the money i wouldnt mind one, they do look good, and the all in one aspect reminds me of the fairlight CMI. (yes i know they were not an "all in one" box but the principle is more or less the same)
basically an overpriced computer...for this price, i can get a korg/roland/yamaha (all 3) plus and imac, alesis master control for 24 bit, 192 khz with 114db and motorized faders (alesis master control is better than the presonus card)...
this is a gimmic 'all-in-one'..i d rather have individual instruments, record them to the Mac and take just the mac book and one keyboard to a concert...
i think you're right.... i've never heard of any famous DJ or producer or anything using one of these. aphex twin, nin, oakenfold, tiesto, daft punk, wtfever you like i bet a hundred dollars they don't mess with these things lol
i know what you mean...but i just don't like to use solely the open labs since its windows based and all sounds will sound like vst.
i prefer using an imac over windows...and to save space, well get sound modules and just 1 keyboard (eg: roland fantom g along with korg m3m module, yamaha rack xs).
if the price was 2000, i would buy it. but no way i would pay 4500 for a PC with built in keys
These Mikos and Nekos have been known to perform very well and are really reliable, they are built solid, its also a modded shell of Windows specially tuned to the hardware in the machine, so yeah, and what's wrong with VSTs? I'm pretty sure VSTs and RTAS are used far more than the newer APPLE alternative.
iMacs are the gimmicks my friend, their a family computer essentially, the 2009 Macintosh box. Did you know an iMac has mostly laptop parts? it uses intels mobile Core 2's and their mainboards etc, the only things that arn't from a notebook is the RAM and 7200RPM HDD. The Neko has full desktop speed parts! It's truly a high speed machine.
Thats not fair, the The niko/meko should be compared to a macpro which would just kill that thing!!!!!!! And that thing is like 6 grand....U can get a Macpro with a better interface, logic and all that software for about 4500!!!!!!
The Mac Pro is a workstation with Xeons, not built from mainstream desktop parts, the hardware on the inside of the Neko's is high-end but affordable, the large price comes from the 1000s of professional VSTs and all the included software which works extremely well with the hardware interfaces. That's litterally what your paying for mostly. Don't be stupid, a decent MacPro would almost cost 3000!! How much is Logic Studio? 500?
CONT... then buy some interfaces etc. then you still only have Logic, afew interfaces,, and your fancy MacPro without keyboard, monitor and mouse. Don't forget the Miko/Neko is a portable all-in-one too. Your just so Pro-Apple that you'll criticise any attempt for anyone to make anything that competes against Apple. I could personally put OSX on my Miko with OSX86 BUT!, Don't need to! I still havn't gone through all the samples and plugins.
basically it's a pc with a build in midikeyboard and a shit load of vsti's and plugins and it can mimic any other keyboard n I bet you can do alot more with it but that's just the things I know about it lol
Agree to all is own, but the idea that you got for Power, stability and dependability is far fetched,, why ? is not the most powerful; it runs windows xp home(nuff said) and its dependable as any DELL desktop. I won one of these and sold it because at best it wasnt better than my pc and couldnt stop people from wanting to pay me 4000 for it.....when openlabs builds their own OS, exclusive SOUNDS(not just easily available VST's) then dropping 5k or more is a tough sell
man, it runs windows XP, but thats not what makes this thng so good, its the specs of the system, your OP has little effect on how your PC runs, its the tech specs on the system, E.G Quad Core Q8800 2.4Ghz . . . . even on Windows XP, u still gunna have no trouble running anything on that. And bruh, this thing has been tested to 300 plugins, and the thing did not crash.
What the hell? comparing a DELL Desktop to this?? WTF? This is of much higher quality than those walmart Dell machines, They havn't yet had troubles with their modification of Windows they've used for it, also they include thousands of sounds, and really nice handy pieces of software. They seem to be selling fine without any issues so. Also, I think you have the idea that all machines running XP are the same, crash the same and do the same thing. That's farr from the truth my friend!
im a fan of open labs just for the sheer fact of their customer service but im still having a hard time understanding why one would but a 7000 dollar machine over buying a standalone computer like an apple buying logic or some other daw with a audio interface a few vst's and still being under 7k i cant see the point no disrespect to open labs or anyone who owns one but i would like someone to answer this question for me
If Open Labs made a weighted 88 with all of the Neko XXL capabilities, I'd be in heaven!!
