  • i love lemurs!!!!

  • Boo!

  • Absolutely gorgeous

  • This would be way more adorable if the background wasn't bars. I can just tell those "cute and cheeky" lemurs want to get the eff out of there, and that fact makes this video depressing and disturbing. Because we are captivated we capture? Zoos are really awful.

  • they are a critically endangered species if they werent in an "awful" zoo with plenty of food, love and protection they would probably all be dead

  • If these lemurs actually had a habitat (as opposed to a fake one for human enjoyment) then they wouldn't be endangered or in need of zoos (with their food,"love" and "protection") which are awful in comparison to the wild. Think about it, what if you suddenly awoke in a house that looked similar to what you are used to, with plenty of strangers of another species giving you their versions of food, love and protection, Oh yes, and you can't leave. Doesn't that sound awful?

  • Better than being extinct.

  • It does sounds awful that they can't live in peace in the wild, but you have to remember animals aren't as stupid as humans, and are happy if their needs(including company, entertainment and enough space to run around) are satisfied, they don't have any concept of "freedom"

  • Every animal that has been "farmed" as cattle or kept as pets, has never gone extinct. If you really wanted to boost their numbers then you'd want to farm them and sell their fur.

  • Please keep your misguided moralizing bullshit to yourself. KTHXBAI.

  • They'r funny because they look like they'r thinking "WHAT THE HELL??"

  • i love ur videos!

  • Hi ZSL,

Are most subspecies of Lemur found in Madagascar?

  • All lemurs are from Madagascar :)

  • Truly the greatest of primates. Now if only the primates in my neighborhood were this benign.

  • Hehehehe! I have always loved those big, bright eyes! So funny and cute.

  • Really? I've never worked with any great apes so I don't know what they're like. I've heard from the keepers at my local zoo that their chimpanzees and gorillas aren't very friendly (which is why keepers rarely if ever enter their enclosures) but I haven't heard anything about their Orangs.

I guess it's the opposite of lemurs, then- They look like they'd be really sweet and friendly if you hand-raised them, but they almost never are.

  • I was referring to the lemurs, not great apes. LOL Sorry for the misunderstanding. :)

  • Chimps are excitable and liable to get aggressive, orangs are loners and slow, gorillas are the most similar in attitude to humans, and some, in the past, have been kept succesfully even in adulthood, but they have the right to live in a natural environment(as they are much more intelligent and really do need the tranquility of the forest, living with humans is confusing and stressful to them.

  • @greengrendel: Chimps are still the closes relation we have :P

  • This is my favorite!

  • Aww, such an adorable video! I wish there was a zoo near here that had some kind of Gentle Lemurs! I love ALL the different Lemurs! Lemurs are so much better than icky, vicious monkeys. ):

You got a lot of great clips, though! I love it! Great vid! (:

  • Thank you!

  • I do love monkeys though, the small tiny ones (spider monkeys I think they're called?) they are very adorable.

  • Ohh, you mean Squirrel Monkeys? Yeah, those are the only monkeys I could tolerate. They're a lot more gentle than most of the other monkeys/apes. And they're also probably the cutest of ANY monkey! But they still have nothing on a prosimian!

  • I love Siamang(s). I don't know what they call it in English, but it's native to my home country, Indonesia. They are such an adorable creature, really sweet and pretty too! With black/light brown coating, and lighter area around their faces.

Unfortunately the babies can bee too trusting towards human therefore easily petted at home once the mom has been killed.. illegally, of course

  • Siamangs are the Gibbon-related apes, I believe. I've worked with some White-Handed Gibbons and they seem nice... Since I posted my last comment I've learned more about monkeys and apes and gained a new respect for them, although I still notice that many of them are rather aggressive. Babies are always a lot friendlier than the adults, but yeah some baby monkeys are cute. :)

  • Some species of adult apes are still friendly if being home-raised by humans.. Orangutans, for example. Actually they are TOO friendly!! Not very good either some people think they are ideal pets when they should live wildly in the rain forest of Borneo

  • Thank you!

  • Absolutely gorgeous, wish I could take them home.

  • So cute!
