I am downloading youtube videos for a class I am teaching. I edit in movie maker, After I insert the video into power point, the pixilation is substantial. any suggestions to reduce the pixilation?
Great video, I need some help, I do a lot of low light filming; I film hunting videos and at last and first light I have to use my gain at 6 to 18db, the footage is very grainy and I need help learning how to improve the lighting so the animal being filmed can be more easily seen, then I think if I do what you showed in this video I can cut out a lot of the grainy gain mess... please advise Thanks!
Excellent tutorial..... and there I was, thinking I would have to get additional plug-ins to achieve this kind of effect ! Thanks very much for uploading !
Can you make a vid to teach us how to make a black and white video but fill colors in like in the movie Sin City, The Spirit, and or 300. If you can't do this tutorial can you tell me what this effect is called?
I don't know enough about Vegas to give an opinion on this. I am thinking that soft contrast has to do with the contrast of the clip and not with the composite mode.
I found this video that will give you clues on how to change the composite mode of the layer. youtube.com/watch?v=P2jcJsYWEwk
Nice job and interesting fix to grainy analog video. I may be wrong...but I believe you meant to say to apply the soft light to the video 2 track and not the original. thanks -
This is a tough one, if the footage is too blurry there is not much you can do. FCP does has a sharpening filter but it probably would not be too useful in this situation. Can you post a short clip so we can see how out of focus it is?
Excellent video!!! However, I found that setting the blur to 2 made it look a tad crisper for my liking. I guess its all personal taste, but this video was a BIG help!
There is no exact science to this effect, you can adjust the blur filter if you need to, but like you said, every video has it's own look and feel, so this is not the cure all for every situation. Thanks for you comment.
This effect is not the cure all end all, it is simply a tool that will work in many situations. If you post a little bit of your clip I might be able to suggest something to help.
I have wanted to do a video on this for a while. I will try to do something on this subject soon; however the best way is shooting it with the DOF you want.
hay my name is trent what i need help with is if you have seen the movie the matix in the special features there is the white rabbit thats where the botton of a white rabbit comes up and to click on it and it takes you to how that part was made then it takes you back to the movie. i want to know how i can do that it doesnt look to hard i just dont know what to use can you help me plz thanks
thanks for this...i did some filming at night outside where there was very little light and it turned out very grainy because of the lack of light...will your technique still work on my footage in getting rid of the grain? thanks!
Thanks! for showing us new editors & filmmakers the tricks of the trades. Question! (Do you know how to fix hot spots?) I shot a park scene with cars and people in it on a hot sunny day with no filters on the camera and the footage looks very hot and I cant re-shot this Im out of time I know it can be fix Ive seen it done but I dont know how can you show me step by step on FCP how I can fix this and save this footage.. It would help my film allot.
I'm not a final cut pro expert but many expert but maybe try looking for a warmth and darkness tool. Adobe photoshop has filters like these and perhaps it is used on some video editing programs as well. Just a thought.
I recorded some interviews under a neon light, but i didn't set the camera settings right, so the light flickers. One second it's lighter, next one it's darker. Do you know how to fix that up in FCP? Thanx so much.
I agree that the video is very informative. The quality was hard to see however, but the information good. This was posted some time ago, so I'm sure your videos are much improved and I will be searching for your updates. Thanks again.
yeah, i thought this was a helpful video, but in future reference, making your video's a higher quality will make it easier to see whats going on. but anyway, thanks for the videos they are helpful
Great job man but as billsk8 mestioned,it would be a lot better if you could capture your pointer movements or something.I'll give it 5 star and will subscribe as well.keep up the good work and good luck.
I just recorded a productionthis week and I will try this...THANKS!!!

I love this. But I can hardly see what you are doing. Your computer screen is to blurry on the Video. Also the curser is small and hard to see.
Thaks for taking the time to do this for all of us.

Don't use so much blur on the first layer. This is not exact science, you my need to play around with the filters to get it right.

You are correct, the bottom layer gets the blur and the top layer gets the composite mode change.
