  • Comment removed

  • i love Eddi singing Burns, john anderson and willie stewart being favourites,i also love the song Wild mountainside she stole from her partner,i heared them singing it together in Troon a few weeks ago ...great! happy new year to you and yours x

  • she left out the 2nd verse

  • i have to sing this in chorus at my school but we do a differents style

  • grossss

  • brilliant

  • the real mckenzies have better version

  • dear god this chick rocks im sad i have just now found her

  • I don't know about anyone else but I quite liked this version....hate me for that....

  • i sang this song in cmea but im not very fond of this version

  • i love this song... we had to sing it for Choir! it was great!!

  • i used to hate this version when i heard it last year, but now...i just wanna laugh LOL for no reason

  • This is an excellent version of the song - passionate, rich, takes it to a new place, feels original. The jauntiness of the tune is a great counterpoint to the lyrics. Some of the saddest songs have a merry beat to them and this is a great take on a sad song. This particular video is a bit shaky, but her recording on the CD Peacetime is magic.

  • I think how you perform this song is not weather its good or bad but the fact that every Scotsman/ (women) understands the passion of what this song really means and you dont have to like this version of this song but just be respectful because it is of our people and everyone fairs differently.

  • eddies a true flower of scotland

  • Oh Eddie a talented red head woman.

like so many i have known.

    but not enough!!!!!

  • amazing... real music.. from real musician...scots are great... anyone can tell what tune is she using? :ppp

  • Eddi READER GOOD SONGS

  • I think it's great and roert would love it, I'm sure. we are free to interpret and it connects w/ me

  • this is like a terrier taking a rag doll a shaking the de'jazus of it .....

  • Give the girl a break, oh she said this, oh this was out of time , oh timing a bit out there, i mean ffs!!

  • I love Eddi but I can not stand what she does to Burns Aaaargh I never wanna hear this version again!!!!

  • Brilliant Eddi...I will return...I'm coming to get you.

  • i thought she was really good :D a tad bit fst though :|

  • Lovely, but just a little slower would be better.

  • lovely voice but was the bar about to close?

  • does any one have a tab

  • She's good normally, but Rabbie would hate this version... well out of time, trying to make it too fancy... nobody in Scotland says "deperted"

  • Eddi is doing great work to rekindle interest in the Bard's songs, and not just wheeling out the usual suspects at Hogmanay! Fair play to her!

  • Ive got to play that on my Cello and its sooooo easy =]

  • i bet she knows this wasn't her best!! Rab would let her off though, he was all for the ladies ;)

  • going to see/ hear eddi tonight at the magnum scotland canny wait xx

  • I think I've heard her do a slower version of this song, and its far, far better. I must admit that I'm struggling to hear a way that this is in time. Wonderful song nonetheless.

  • Oh dear lord she's butchered that song!. Reader has a wonderful voice but this is a disgrace, this is not how this song is supposed to be performed. 0/5.

  • Who gives a fuck how it should be performed. I like this. 5/5

  • Well, me for one, and obviously several others who are commenting on the same issue, and obviously you too since you've bothered to comment, the fact your saying you like it, theres clearly aspects of it you like, one of which is how it was performed. You should really think before you speak. If your going to post comments with obscenities laced through them, dont post them to me, learn some real words, and far be it from you to chastise me for my opinion.

  • And that, children, is how to rip somebody to shreds. Made my day :)

  • lmao, glad you liked it bud!. ;)

    Take care,

  • The tune belongs to Scotland... It inspired Tagore to compose his own version, with its own magic.

  • Sorry, but with the very greatest of respect I think Rab would turn in his mausoleum at hearing this.

  • wow wow way to fast likes this song is sopost to be slow

  • Amazing!!

  • Not only Scotland's bard, but the world's. A true everyman.

  • Beautiful music, very well played. Robbie Burns was a true rock star!

  • hi i am amohaa das from kolkata,india..its 9th feb,2008 and Eddi Reader was here in kolkata performing at a live event along with two other famous indian singers, hosted by the british council of kolkata. i was lucky enough to savour her music at the event and was completely mesmerised by its simplicity and sweetness, this being my first time at any of her live events. loved her singing and her scottish impromptu dancing jigs! loved them... just want to tell u Eddi that we all love u here !...

  • I love Eddie Reader. She is SO cool. I bet my music would have a fit with the rendition but I like how Burns can sound good now as well as then. I attached my own version of it to show how it sounds "normally" but the mic I used was a bit "poppy", sorry. xBrigid

  • one of my favorite songs ever. I like the traditional better, but she has a nice voice!
