Saw them twice at the Police picnics, they had in Toronto in the early 80's. AMAZING!!!!!! is all I can say. This band was tremendous and even better live. I love this song. The drumming the bass, the guitar...........what can you say. INCREDIBLE!!!!!
One of the most amazing bands in the last 50 years! Tight, controlled, innovative and still fresher than most of the new music out there.................
Does anybody know why in the hell they throw up these mysterious 'spell code ' things after you make several comments on a site? That is the most goddamn annoying thing in the world and can't really be accomplishing anything useful.
I think generations will continually rediscover The Police for decades to come. Thier music was so seminal and unique. They practically made the eighties.Surfing music!!
I saw them perform this live in Berlin in 1982. The crowd went insane. I have never done drugs in my life, but watching Stewart Copeland work the drums was an illuminating experience ! I swear he climbed up and down the drum set !
@legrandmixer Unrecognized? At my high school '80-'83, a Police concert t-shirt was on every other dude and a Police sticker on every other pee-che folder.
After some time and distance, you really get to see how much Copeland and Summers were essential to The Police's success. If you didn't have them, you'd take the guts right out of the band. Of the three, Sting is the weakest musician. Man these guys were hot.
@probrojeffro I don't agree at all. the three were essential, and Sting, a weak musician ? man I hope this is just a troll. there is a certain point, when musicians are awesome enough, where you just can't compare them : they're just awesome in their respective ways.
And let's not forget Stewart Copeland popping the clutch at 1:35 and driving the groove thru the fucking wall! All my drummer friends loved this song. No flashy stick work at all - just an unforgettable rock groove. Not your typical white boy on drums.
@oLdSkOoLkisS i understand what you mean,,,but people always say that about the beatles led zep etc,,,but we would still have all of these bands even without all before them,,,can you dig that or am i just being an asshole.....you know what you are probably right,,,nevermind
@Tsnore the police arent reggaae, its just stings voice, this song kinda sounds reggae a bit but the police are a good band, listen to walking on the moon and message in a bottle, you'll like em'
@mwells219 Sounds like they're saying yayo too, LOL. Wow we used to jam out to this stuff on the tennis courts, remember boom boxes before iPods.... folks shared music differently then.
I'll never forget this era, going to undergrad back in the early 80's, we just knew we were the shit, and didn't even yet know that the Police took their name from the CIA. Anyway, yah they were a good band, borrowed the reggae that Scratch Perry and others brought to the Game.
Probably my favorite Police album. Copland is a monster on these tracks. DAMN!!

Love the "Where's my echo?" from Sting at 0:53, then you hear the echo start coming in on the "CHA" after that.
