  • Your forgot the condoms...

  • food? water? first aid? shelter? 5 50 cord? yeaaahhhh......... you would be lucky if u lasted an hour. and i know this and im only 12. wooow!!

  • At a minimum you should have a water purification straw so you won't have to worry about a container. Lack of clean water is your first and foremost problem, not deciding which led light to use or which knife ???? Two whistles ??? Couple large bandaids, few aspirins, polysporin, water purification tablets, snare wire, fishing line, hooks, needle,..all very small items that could be important. You need to think about multiple uses for single items not multiple items for a single use.

  • You wouldn't survive very long with this kit.

You'd have to find all your own fresh water and food. What game are you going to kill with 2 small knives, two firestarters, two flashlights and a rape whistle?

Armed with only this in the wild I'd give you about two days if you couldn't find food or water.

    Good luck, moron.

  • kinda sounds like dale doback from step brothers

  • pretty dumb if u dont even have the basic first aid but i guess accidents never happen - oh but wait i bet u got another 1lb kit stashed away

  • hey great video.... i love the kit yoouve put together.... not sure about the comments above "only amateurs get hurt" having worked as a medic in new zealand and now in australia for the state emergency services I can assure you that this is not the case :) I go out weekly in the hiills here and would not leave the house with out my first aid kit.... or survivial kit for that matter... australia may hav esoome of the best phoones available cheapply but their coverage is shocking

  • Iwould rather take a metal box, so I can cook or boil water in it (in case I need potable water)

  • i would remove the sog, and the large whistle because you already have both a small blade & whistle. i would replace with water purification tabs, 3 or 4 sandwich size ziplock bags. i would add cotton balls soaked in vaseline. remove countycomm light and add sliver of credit card wrapped in duck/med tape.... other than that good start!

  • @EDCgearJUNKIE ..I agree with your suggestions..I like the credit card/Duct Tape wrap. Can be used for band aid, repairs of clothing, tent and other items. Holding things together. The cotton balls/vaseline, can be shoved nicely in drinking straws - cut to length ) for easier storage. But again there is bound to be good firestarting material around..milkweed pod stuffing, cat tail fluff, bark, grass, or shavings of wood, is good too. Nice starting kit..which is growing. "thumbs up

  • Good kit. Add two birthday candles, a couple of band-aids, and some small matches coated with ladies hair spray to water proof. stonenstrop

  • Compas?

  • condom,sewing kit,candle etc ?

  • First aid?

  • @AllAboutSurvival1

    only amateurs get hurt

  • @GearBuyersGuide ...That's a really cute rape whistle you have there.

  • @GearBuyersGuide HA! if you say so. How much you wanna bet that you will get hurt and not have first aid!

  • @GearBuyersGuide AKA n00bs.

  • lol cool

  • i thought by a pound u men't it cost a pound >:(

  • @puffleperson lol,,,,,,, British peoples.... not that there's anything wrong with that.I'm part British.

  • you sound like Allen from the hangover.

  • i'd throw a space blanket, platypus, chlorine dioxide pills, and a tiny fishing kit in there too.

  • @cattnipp platypus?

  • u need some lint

  • What about water purification tablets ?

  • where can you get that tool logic survival card online????

    please react

  • does it have any room for some weed? really the first thing you wanna do is smoke some weed when you get lost in the jungle.

  • good kit

  • C4!

  • The best survival kit !

  • Small plastic bag folded for water gathering, or some germicidal tablets for making water potable, or the survival kit mad of stainless steel so you can use it itself for cooking and boiling!

  • @MarcViper a condom and a sock would do the job nicely

  • Two firestarter, two blade, two whistle Three led light. But no fishing kit, extra battery for a headlamp and first aid kit.

  • Looking Pretty good i would recoment the Lethermann S3 small multitool

  • put in a gerber clutch. just a though

  • does the head lamp case waterproof? im just curious

  • how i wish i could find some of this stuff at my place.. =(

  • all you need is a knife+sharpener

  • Great small survival kit, it have many stuff that could help in case of necesity, and the best of all of this, its about only 1 pound !

  • good job

  • WATTTTTTTTTTERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

  • that blue card rox iv never seen one before

  • No water purification tablets? Or maybe a lot of tin foil to fashion a cup to boil water.

    Thanks for video.

  • How much did it cost to build this kit?

  • so you have just about 3 lights in there, one of them in a otherwise virtually useless card I would exchange the knife with the Victorinox Pocket Hunter. I would definitely add some first aid items (alcohol, needle and thread, some cotton) - most of these items can be use to start a fire as well (you can both cut the wood and kill the food with the Pocket Hunter). As someone said, now that your wounds are not bleeding any longer, you got a fire started and all you'll miss is the clean water

  • FIRST AID !!!!

  • WATER ? !

Next to air, you are gonna need clean water ... FIRST !

    DOH !

  • As said before me: Clean water is most important!

  • may i ask where u got the case? thx karen

  • @cougarbahia

    From Ultimate Survival Technologies

  • @cougarbahia

Its basically an OTTERBOX you can get them at many onlines stores. Peli cases are also good too

  • I'd change the logic card as it is pretty much everything but smaller.. change for something more usefull? or just take that it probably wieghs like 500g

  • i liked your review alot because it was brief. some ppl take too much time explaining things...seriously.

  • No water purification :(

  • How about throwing in there a coffee maker, a sewing machine and a blender just in case you never know.

  • dude thats inteligent not it would break under a considerable amount of force...most things break under a considerable amont of force

  • lol i used to keep weed in that box...lol well, now i use it for to keep my flare tubes. works very well. but if it's in fire forget it.

  • add some iodine tablets. They don't take up much room, they are pretty light, and they can be used for both medical purposes and water purification. Other than that, great job!

  • i dont care whatothers say but i enjoy your vids!

  • How about a light space blanket for shelter and heat

    And Water Purification Tablets

    and a candle and matches

  • How abut a light space blanket for shelter

  • are you afraid of the dark? or are you fascinated by lights?

  • Throw in some water purification tablets! Cant go wrong with a 5 year shelf life and if you get aqua tabs they'll come in strips!

  • A couple of other thoughts. If you are set on having a backup blade, why not consider a couple of X-Acto scalpel blades. They could easily be lashed to a small but sturdy stick with the inner fibers of para-cord, and two or three of them weigh next to nothing and take up very little space. Also You could replace the factory lanyard with a survival braid of para-cord. Thanks for the video. It has given me some good ideas.

  • I like the kit. Seems very well thought out. However the survival card is a little bit redundant. It is always good to have backup equipment, but I would say that the entire kit is, in itself, a backup. Perhaps you could consider replacing it with some water purification tablets, snare wire, or some other means of procuring food and/or clean drinking water.

  • sometimes when I'm out in the woods for days, I like to drink water.

  • @NateTheGreat88213

    sign of weakness

  • @GearBuyersGuide more like sign of not dead

  • @GearBuyersGuide that is true but dieing isnt a sign of weakness. yo should have included water pureifacation tablets

  • @NateTheGreat88213 lmao... i get that same urge from time to time. i was thinking... lost one of the flash light things and put in some water purifying tabs. flash lights just don't help much with giardia or cryptosperidiam (sp?)

  • you should wrap the entire carry case with 550 cord a couple times reallty tight

  • @getrealthen

I don't know, your comment doesn't really prove that

  • @getrealthen you know you can skip that.....theres an idea instead of bitching about it

  • @getrealthen No offence or anything, but if you don't care then don't watch it. That seems like a fairly basic concept to me, but if you have difficulty understanding please let me know and I will do my best to explain it a little better for you. dumb ass.

  • @getrealthen Glue the signal mirror to the outside, ditch the small led and put an extra battery for the petzl for christ sakes, thats so redundant its sickening. Wheres the fishing line? I mean really... The swiss card is also redundant a little crappy scissors wont do shit compared to that knife....

  • I'd replace the headlamp with a space blanket, the pocket knife with a multitool cause I alway have atleast one knife on me already, I'd take out the whistle and the padding of the container for medical supplies, and I'd also just squeeze in some water purification tablets.

  • NOT TO GOOD TO CARRY IN A BELT OR SO

  • The only thing I would add is water purification tablets unless you know yoru plants in which case you know where to find your water. I have heard of a case where tourists cut up a plant to get water but sadly it was highly toxious and they died, so either take water or know your plants.

  • you should have inside some iodum sulfrade(guard for radiation)

  • Nice review but your flashlight portion is lacking...

  • no water treatment...? that's like the first thing you'll need.

  • @SVKmellow fire

  • @lbizzythefire yeah... I just found out about rock boiling. so fire is the first thing.

  • @lbizzythefire but still... water tablettes are really small and you really need water first and foremost. not light etc.

  • @SVKmellow i meant to treat water

  • @lbizzythefire Yeah i know.... I'm just saying that tablets might be more versatile. I mean you can always find a water container but not always one that you can boil water in... am I making sense?

  • @SVKmellow And I'd rather have water tablettes than a led lamp or a whistle.

  • @SVKmellow tru about container

  • no medical equipment bro!

  • good buddy, but no medical eqquipment

  • I like this kit. For refference, I learned from Peak Survival, a great product to have in a survival kit is a non lubricated condom because it serves as a lightweight water keg that can hold 1 gallon of water at a time.

  • how will you boil water? but other than that it seems good

  • if ur so concered about the weight I think id ditch the hard plastic case.i like that tool logic for keeping on my person in a pocket

  • I think it could fit 2 antibacterial band-aids

  • Unless your bug out route follows a clean stream I would like to know how you are thinking you are going to purify and carry water.

Maybe pasteurize it in the petzl headlamp container?

    HAH.

  • 2 knives and three lights, but no way to treat water. Better to put that gear in a kleen canteen so your cup for boiling water is with you, add some paracord, some medical tape and you are good to go. medical tape is really all you need, no bandages, the tape will do the job. Also I would add three titanium nail tent pegs, they can be stuck in ground and used to hold canteen up over fire. Doing it this way will not add weight because you are losing the plastic case.

  • Great video!

  • I would add some water purification tablets, a chainsaw, satellite phone, a pogo stick, a tube of toothpaste and few condoms. That should do it.

  • whats the total cost of the assembly?

  • Id switch knives to a victorinox wrap the outside in paracord and swap somethibg for a space blanket

  • ye add a purfiying tablet n maybe some pain killer or anitiboitc tablets

  • water water water, no way to carry or purify water add a ziplock bag or even a condom and some iodine tabs brother. other than that a nice little kit and nice vid Thankyee hahaha

  • something to purify water man... u will die in 3 days without water...

i would add a compass, and fishing equipment...

  • in the wild you nred a 50 puond srvivle kit

  • ahh add a button compass

  • I would def add a fishig kit and water tablets (5-10)... And get rid of the survival card...

  • I would add Tylenol or Ibuprofen.

  • what about medical supplies?

  • @superbloody24 a man does not need that ...only meat

  • @masterpiece155 then why not bring a gun instead oh a survival kit

  • @superbloody24 it has to be a big ass gun ...

  • Why do you have a knife and a flashlight if the card already has both? Also, a blade can be used as the mirror.

  • defanetley not the way i would go with a survival kit, but i live in oregon...... still though seems like youve got some un necissary stuff in there like more than 1 light and more than 1 blade. cut down on 1 light and one blade and add some tinder or some first aid items.

  • some people are stupid though i saw a guy who made a kit 3 cm long like make one decent sized like as long as it doesnt weigh 50 pounds or something

  • Don't forget medical aid stuff

  • Not that good, 3 lights is just too much, 1 lite is more than enoug, yo dont have anything to purify whater,

you may also need something for food like a small fishing kit, snare for traps, a small ziplock bag whould be nice to carry water, Hope i helped you

    Goodluck:D

  • were u get the case at?

  • were u get ur case at??????????????

  • I think that you should add some food gathering tools and water purifying tablets.

  • @mainetrapper ueah thats a good idea

  • in all my kits I keep small blocks of wood that have been soaked in fuel . leave it to half dry then rap it in a bit of foil extremely useful . A spark sets it instanly on fire

  • Don't put all your eggs in one basket. If you lose that your going to be stuck without anything.

  • if the LED flashlight has a micro processor in it then its case should be EMP shielded which would make it great for a post-nuclear attack survival kit. Simply wrapping it in tissue and then wrapping that in aluminum foil would do the trick. All my WROL/SHTF electronics (radios, walkies, LED lights with microprocessors) are in EMP shielded boxes or wrappings.

  • You should watch my 3 part video series on the 5 C's of survival...a new way of thinking about the basic survival needs broken down into some very simple concepts.

  • nice black knife

  • For short term survival:

    Heatsheet blanket or bivvy

    Spark-lite and tinder

    Whistle

    Signal mirror

    Pocket knife

    Flashlight

    Water purification tablets and ziplock

    Rope

  • @Jimthemedic That sounds about right my friend.

  • 1. needle and thread for wounds, purifying water, and COMPASS!

  • You signal with a signal mirror? I never would've guessed.

  • You live in a desert and you don't have a method for carrying/purifying water?

  • Such a small kit I'm sure would be an emergency kit that you would use in case , somehow, you lost all or part of your other stuff. So you'd have to make it considerably harder to lose. Also I don't see the point in having 2 blades, 3 lights, etc.For an emergency kit you should keep redundant stuff to a minimum and extend the range of use as much as possible like adding more paracord and a compass. I'm guessing a compass in the desert is a good thing. Oh, and you say "fairly" a lot lol.

  • the petzle torh has a loud energency whistle attatched to it n the head tourch maked the small press light obselete, get rid of extra torch and whistle n add emc blanket.

  • maybe add an oven bag to hold water....

  • i think that you shuold add some waterperafacations and some shelter not critasizing just sugesting

  • not sure why you have 2 firestarter and of the small led light. the space could be use for like a compass or other equipments not covered by the rest of the kit.

  • Nice starter kit

In survival mode fishing line and hooks can get you birds to eat as well as repair gear

Every thing in your kit should have more than one use a little forethought and your kit will be bang on

  • Mole skin. Very helpful with minimal weight...

  • I like a lot, think about adding some fishing line and some hooks?? Also a sewing needle too in case you had to close up a wound? Other then that I like.

  • @TheSingingDemon

we live in the desert, no lakes / rivers with fish

  • @GearBuyersGuide it's good to see you've considered the area in which you'll be using the kit. I would suggest one or two of those tiny tampon things - sounds fruity, but it's made to absorb blood, so will make a good compress for a wound and is cotton so it'll burn well - could do like some ppl say and add cotton balls with vaseline. some tinfoil is usually highly useful as well. a few asprin wouldn't hurt... just some things to think about. ultimately you'll refine it as u see fit.

  • @TheSingingDemon

Agreed. Sewing up a wound is important. Also it should have some bandages, infection fighting ointment and perhaps some medication for infections as well.

  • @TheSingingDemon

In a survival situation your not going to want to sew up a deep wound without proper debrashion , sterilization, and possible knowledge/training to properly close a wound.

  • @TheSingingDemon still those items can help

  • @TheSingingDemon A sewing needle is a good idea. if nothing else was available , but i would prefer a real suture needle especially if i was the patient

  • ya and he has no medical equipment either

  • every single survival kit i see is missing the key item...a 45. colt.

  • Nice kit...what do you think about removing that padding from the case and adding a space blanket (use as blanket or tarp shelter). Removing that padding will allow you to also fit some anti-bacterial ointment, alcohol swabs, and bandaids...just some thoughts.

  • @rlmarin1968

good idea, but the paddingisn't that thick, it's perhaps 5 or 6 peices of paper think IIRC

  • Who says you cant carry water and food in this kit ... Buy a Survival straw and shove it in there .. Add Boulon cubes .. Chicken or beef , And add some of those koolaid packages ,, because they can make nasty tasting water taste ok ... And ... Add some tea bags or the Starbucks VIA Instant coffee packages ... Small and easy to fit... The last thing that I always add to survival kits is ciggaretts because the packs are small and can be traded..

  • add an emergency blanket and utility tool and its perfect

  • While we're at it, an Aqua-Pouch, especially the smaller 1 qt size might fit in there, too. Again, no knock on the Petzl, it's just prioritizing. Light is minor compared to water & shelter. The ol' Rule of Threes: 3 minutes w/o air, 3 hours w/o shelter, 3 days w/o water and 3 weeks w/o food.

You've really got me thinking, GBG- I might have to cook up my own kit to fit that same case, just to see what I'd come up with! :)

  • Nice little kit overall. I have the same case, although mine is just an empty one. One thing I'd change in that kit would be to replace the Petzl headlamp with a space emergency blanket, heavy can liner or small drop cloth. For the limited space I think the ability to create shelter or hold water is much more important than light. If you need light you're got the Tool Logic card, and small micro LEDs are very small and very cheap.

    Nice little kit overall, though.

  • @robbabcock1969

good point, and the Petzel takes up about the same space as a emergency blanket would

  • Talking about "minimal space and weight items":

I think a button compass will be a great addiction, and some purification tablet too. A not tubed condom can complete the kit. The 3 things are all very very small, and can be inserted, I think.

Some (small) fishing hooks can be added with no space loss.

Some meters of braided paracord, at the corner of the box can complete the all kit with a folded aluminium foil, as already written

This is NOT a "judgement", but only my idea

  • @Baldovino63 "Lubed", not "Tubed"... sorry. My english sucks.

  • IMO it's okay but I'm not sure the intention of it. is it a quick 1-2 day kit or a week+ kit? if it's a 1-2 day then it looks good but anymore than that I would want some type of fishing line or wire for fishing and snares and for either purpose I would add a non lubricated condom for collecting water.

  • Nice little kit but a person doesn't need to spend the kind of money you did on this stuff. You can make your own kit with so much less money by using basic materials, such as cotton balls instead of those tinders you have; a Bic lighter would be a good, etc. Most of this stuff can be used but is really not needed. There's no compass, no med kit, etc. I agree below about the aluminum foil; I have it in mine too.

  • the petzl is pretty good i like very compact and useful

  • Fold up some aluminium foil and toss it in the bottom ;)

Great for cooking, signalling, and even fire starting in rainy or snowy conditions (use the foil as a baseplate, to reflect heat and reduce heat loss into the wet ground).

  • @NothingCoherent

90+ comments and this is one of the first I can REALLY agree with, great idea, thanks

  • @GearBuyersGuide

You can also make it into a cup to carry or boil water. Foil rocks!

  • Are you afraid of the dark? Three light sources but no water, shelter, food.

  • @kporter85db

I can make water clean, shelter and food, why carry them in a kit?

  • @GearBuyersGuide I wouldn't carry water, food, or shelter in a small kit like this either but it sure would come in handy to have some water purification tablets, some snare wire and fishing gear, and maybe a space blanket to give yourself an advantage in a bad situation. I think they would all fit in your kit too.

  • @kporter85db

OK I thought you ment to carry all that,

  • yuo should add water purification tablets(or a frontier drinking straw) and a mylar emergency blanket

  • Other than the fact that you're lacking in food esentials like snare wire, fishing equipment, or even MRE's, you have a pretty nice kit.

  • whats the thing in the red case and where do i get

  • @OLIT54 its called the "petzl E+lite"

great for its weight and mass, and waterproof to IPX 4 standards

  • can i ask where you get the box i would like to make one of these for my duke of edinbourgh

  • @OLIT54

    Search for "Otterbox"

  • "Should be fairly water tight right now" Well Id hope so because its not in water... lol

  • Really, Where do you get your gear? I mean this is a sweet kit! but Case with jetscream and starflash $60, county comm a buck, SOG $80, Sparkie $15, Petzl $40, Benchmade $30, Tool logic $14, sounds roughly like $240 bucks to me..with no shelter, water purification, first aid, etc....Im just saying
