  • "" I love this song ""

  • I love ghost song along with many others by Marty. Truly a inspiration he was.

  • a real artist-and today we have only crap-i wish i could turn time back!

  • A true country artist..They don't make them like marty anymore!!

  • Brenda 0312F how right you are you took the words from, I myself am a musician

he was a great inspireraton to me, we all loved him, our loss was Heaven's

gain, I am positive they are enjoying Marty.

  • Marty is the 5th Highwaymen in absentia.

  • wat's the video b4 this one?

  • when was this concert?

  • RIP Marty

  • The late great Marty Robbins in all his glory. Does anyone know what year this concert is and if it is on DVD?? The sound and picture is quite good for such an old performance.

  • @BloozeDaddy76 I think this was the Summer of 1982; he died later that same year.

  • I feel this is one of his best. I have always loved it.

  • quite the exhibitionist, but rightfully so.

  • Caoimhe!- You're my small baby girl!!! Your absence kills me day by day!!! :(

  • this man is truly a great singer I feel for you brenad0312f

  • My second cousin, what a man he was !! Miss you Marty !!

  • Marty! That says it all.

  • This is my Absolute favorite song it's sad,I know but it's my favorite and I think that some of us are in some sort of a prison of some kind. And we are the only one who can climb that mountain, and when you reach the apex you'll find that you've climbed that mountain and are strong for the arduous trek,

  • I wish all the men in the world were like marty. SEXY and interesting.

  • Gives me chills: Marty had a connection, as Elvis did, with his audience - he gave every drop of himself to those who gathered to listen. He was a selfless, kind-hearted, benevolent soul. Married once, this man should be a gentleman's pin-up: kind-hearted, ridiculously talented, humble, and a non-womaniser. But he was cheeky as hell; even when he was told not to perform during his heart problems, Marty said "the hell with it, where's my guitar?" Then he performed better than ever. LEGEND!!!

  • Equal to the Elvis version, haunting! Fantastic.

  • Marty looks very nice in his stage wear its great that he wanted and took special care to dress for show biz. and not just everyday street wear,as I watch one of his vids.he believed that the people watching his shows deserved the best he could give them.

  • In the quiet times of listening where one can really think about the words and the way they are sung - this man is pretty good. Graham Melb Aus

  • the incomperable marty robbins. what else is there to be said?!

  • I am so glad I found this site concerning Marty Robbins it brought back such sweet memories of this great singer and the songs that he sang still brings tears to these eyes ,The world lost a great man when God took him way to early..

RIP Marty Robbins ,you are still loved...

  • reminds me of my brother lavell ( lu lu ) he sang just like marty. they both are gone now the world has lost 2 great talents. I miss u lu lu

  • who invented the style of the sparkle tops and big collars first???Marty or Elvis??

  • sugarbear286 Sometimes I wonder how many more mts. I have to climb before God calls me home.

  • This song should've been in Fallout new vegas

  • Can't hold a candle to Elvis' version, but a wonderful song, indeed!

  • @325beachbum I agree. Elvis sang the song from his heart. Good performance but EP did the ultimate version. He sounds like he's reading the words and not feeling them.

  • @325beachbum Considering that Marty wrote this song, I think he would find that amusing and flattering. This is the song I want played at my funeral, sang by Mr. Robbins.

  • There's a tear in my eye........

  • Marty was the best singer and entertainer ever.....jmho

  • Comment removed

  • Although he's been gone for almost thirty years, his music lives on. One of the all time greats........

  • Marty always looked and acted so young. It's hard to imagine that he was older than some other great country stars.

  • The best version of this song

  • Everyone, I have a Marty Robbins song stuck in my head, but unfortunately, I can only remember two incredibly insignificant words to the song, so internet and youtube searches bring up nothing...All I know is the song comes to a great crescendo (much like My Woman, My Wife) and then suddenly everything calms down and Marty sings "Aaaaat All..." If anyone has ANY idea what the song is please PM me, it's driving me batshit crazy.

  • @Anaheimfan In answer to your question, The son is,"MY WOMAN< MY WOMAN< MY WIFE". Hope you can get and enjoy it.

  • what a great freakin song!!!! great guy singing it tooooooo!!!!

  • Groovy Stuff!

  • this man wrote sone ghreat songs sure do mis him being here just like elvis he sang all his songs from his heart and gave his all, who could ever forget marty robbins, i know i sure have a mountain to try to climb since the divorce from my long time friend then became my wonderfull wife we then had to great sons that i thought completed my life, i pray all the time she will want me again we are still young enoug to do so much more together like we planned on

  • love this guy

  • Makes me think of my dad. His mom died giving birth to him. His father also despised him and he was raised by his older siblings. He was the last of 12.

( He was locked in a mental prison of guilt caused by his father) He was an alcoholic and my mother got tired of the pain of being his wife also. He died in 1999 from a mountain that was (for him) to high to climb...(cancer).

    I miss you daddy.

  • @Brenda0312F i'm very sorry to hear about your dad, it sounds like he had a tough life.

  • @Brenda0312F i'm so sorry. ain't it wierd how some songs just hit it dead on?

  • @Brenda0312F

I can only imagine the pain. May he be in peace. God bless.

  • @Brenda0312F

I hope you find the peace and strength to make you stronger, love and forgive. Everything happens for a reason good or bad and I pray it makes you a better person.

    God be with you.

  • @Brenda0312F

I hope you understand that everything happens for a reason good or bad. I hope this gives you strength to love and forgive and find peace.

    God be with you always

  • @Brenda0312F Wow.....so very sorry Brenda. This is an incredible song... I'm sorry you miss your daddy.

  • @Brenda0312F

I'm the fourth last of 14 and it sounds like your Father was burdened by his own Dad's sorrow, and that's sad.

I hope that you have found piece and forgiven your Grandfather for not getting over his own grief at the loss of his wife, I'm sure your Dad had already forgiven him.

  • @Brenda0312F ..that is so sad Brenda...hope your dad can rest in peace now!!!...this song my Marty makes me cry..lovely and sooo sad...

  • @Brenda0312F God Bless you Brenda. Be asured that he is watching over you, now and forever.

  • @Brenda0312F So very sad. Almost like this song was written for him.

  • @Brenda0312F Brenda, you put a tear in my eye & I am so sorry for your loss and I wish I could take the pain away but please know that there are people who care out here. I'm sure he's looking down on you with love.

  • Wow! Just watching him sing is a real treat. What an awesome singer, writer, and powerful, sexy man.

  • Marty Robbins is the greatest singer and so nice looking, everybody loved him and still do ,I will never forget him,Hope they keep playing his songs what a great voice although i never met him , I am and aways will be A Fan and injoy all his songs.

  • There's no one who could sing a song better Marty Robbins, that song would melt the hardest of hearts.

  • This is marty robbins at his very best, a beautiful song by a brilliant singer.

  • One of the greatest voices in country music.

  • The man who made me fall in love with America! I have relatives in El Paso & I vowed I would visit there - I did in 96 & it was thanks to Marty & to this day I say he is a legend & God Bless the USA!

  • i'm in prison, for something that i haven't done............ must have been paying the bills or somthin'

haha just kidding. how i wish i could see him live.....

  • Great Song Marty! Great Version Elvis!

  • MARTY WAS A GREAT SINGER !!! Great Upload !!!

  • WHAT A SONG

  • Marty was a very talented man. He made people happy and he made then sad with his music. Like Dont worry about me and you gave me a mountain. These were sad songs. But if you saw him singing it you couldnt help but smile. To me he was one one of the best ever.

  • i grew up with country music and marty was always on in our house. marty i miss you. you are a legend who will never be seen again your voice is amazing god bless you for giving us what you did................steve osborne grimsby england

  • If his marriage to his wife Marizona(Mary) Baldwin was always great why did he write "Devil Woman"? I think he strayed at least once and Mary forgave him.. Just a thought.

  • @tcblin It's called "artistic license"!!!! It's not factual but the lyrics fit the song!!!! I don't think he had' two babies that were born in the spring, but died when the winter was new" as stated in is song, "My Women, My Women, My Wife"!!!!

  • @digga2552 Just to let you know I met Marty and his wife Mary in person both backstage and while they preformed Mary sat next to me. So Devil woman was written to his wife Mary and its not some non factual name made up. Believe I was in the music business withj all magor Nashville stars in the 70's I knew them all and they knew me.

  • @tcblin How very lucky you were. This man was one of my favorites and I never had the pleaure of even seeing him in concert. That would have been one of the highlites of my life.

  • @tcblin It may be that his mistress was auto racing. Mary was an avid auto racer and his car was named Devil Woman. Just another thought. Maybe racing took him away from his wife.

  • Such a great song, written by one of the best song writers ever!

  • It is heartwarming to see all these comments of people who love a man and his music so much. Marty had a truly beautiful voice.

My channel playlists over 300 great artists like Marty from all genres & from around the world, some of the best music you've nevr heard.

110 more playlists cover every year since 1900 ( you'll hear 'A White Sportcoat' on 1957), so you can listen as if you've stepped back in time...........

My grateful thanks to all who post these great videos!!!

  • THE BEST

  • I loved marty's music and his ablitiy to write such beautiful music. Thank you Marty for sharing your talent with us.

  • Marty and his wife had a cottage on Lake Nipissing. My dad used to go up and open the cottage for them every summer. Sometimes Marty would sing at the Fly in Motel just south of Sturgeon Falls. Dad would drive me out there to hear him. Marty was a real sweet heart of a guy.. Country music died a little with him.

  • Marty lived a happy and dedicated life to his wife and family, never was there a word of any trouble in their marrige untill the day he died !

  • @fordman4444 So true!! Marty had more Class in his little finger than most major entertainers have in their whole body.

  • @fordman4444

Couples don't value each other as they did back in the mid 1900's. It's time to go back and face reality that our lives today need some old fashion lessons!

  • @fordman4444

Marty was one in a million. If all were like Marty Robbins the world would be a better place.. SO MUCH Talent

  • Marty did not hit the notes as easily on this video as compared to when he was younger, but his voice at this time at more depth and feeling. I actually prefer his voice at this the most.

  • marty was living this song with his heart troubles. he is my role model for enjoying as much as it is possible to enjoy in life. the guy did everything...and with a smile on his face. god bless him

  • The version of this song that I'm familiar with is Eddy Arnold's, from his "Best of Eddy Arnold, Vol. 2" album. It's closer to Elvis' version, including "Lord" in the first line of the chorus.

It may not be about a divorce, but a separation. I don't know if Marty or someone he knew was ever separated.

  • He died a married Man.

This is from Wikipedia Hope it helps.

In 1948, Robbins married the former Marizona Baldwin to whom he dedicated his song "My Woman, My Woman, My Wife". They had two children, a son Ronny and daughter Janet.

At the times of their deaths, Marty and Marizona lived in Brentwood in Williamson County, outside Nash They are interred in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville. The city of El Paso, Texas later honored Robbins by naming a park and a recreational center after him.

  • So.....who wore the jumpsuits first, him or Elvis?

  • ELVIS wore the jumpsuit first ,i love this song marty sings it good but no one sings it as good as the man ELVIS ,R.I.P to you both love you both xx

  • @kdthorpey I like Elvis, But I don't think in the next ten thousand years if he practicied every day, he could sing it better than Marty

  • ok if you think that that is good i am just a BIG elvis fan and i love when he does it live ,you have a nice day .

  • Marty wrote this song based on something going on in his life...I don't remember what, maybe a child died or something???

  • huh... well listen to the lyrics...

    haha

its about the way he was raised and going through a divorce

  • He never got divorced !!!!!

  • wow

  • I agree with Lenjia,

I knew Elvis, met Marty, heard both of them live; Marty is really good, but Elvis blows them away - time after time.

  • Marty Robbins, How great. Frankie Lane, Elvis and Marty. All great versons. But I think the best was from a talented but un reconized singer by the name of Johnny Clarke. Too bad no vids are posted of him.

  • This is a great version by the composer but Frankie Laine also does a great job of marty,s song ,check it out ,you,ll be a fan for life

  • Notice the high collars - the outfits - Elvis got his look from Marty Robbins. Marty was my Mom's favorite singer. I enjoy him as well.

  • Elvis started with the high collars long before that. And Elvis started wearing the jumpsuits in -68/69. Marty Robbins copied Elvis.

And it looks like this show is after Elvis died.

  • JohnnyGGN, Marty's outfit was based on most country singers' outfits of the fifties and sixties. If you see some of the first Grand Ole Opry TV broadcasts (which were in color as of 1955), people like Marty Robbins, Ray Price and Webb Pierce wore flashy suits, and up until the mid-1960s, it was the main trend. But, went out of style in the late 1960s, with the coming of the outlaw era (started by Waylon Jennings) in country music.

  • Elvis' jumpsuits were different with the capes. Marty probably thought that since he was a big name in country music, he should wear that type of clothing again. Besides, Elvis copied his version of the jumpsuit when he met Liberace on his first (and failed) attempt on Vegas, back in November of 1956.

  • I'm from Australia and I'm pretty new to this bloke, but grew up hearing my Mum sing a few of his songs, actually i think he blows Elvis away. He's so sexy in such a charming, friendly and funny way. Beautiful voice, beatiful sentiments in his songs too.

  • Not to bad, but Elvis blows this version away!

  • shuuuutuuup

  • great song well done since he wrote the song he does it better then anyone else love it

  • A magnificant consistant career

    Great artist

  • j´aime bie Marty Robbins

    belle voix melodieuse typique country

    Merci

  • I actually like the music way better in this clip than in the studio version.

  • he is good, but when elvis did a song, he just owned it.

this guy just simply does not have the same power or passion.

  • your so right my friend elvis owns this song but .with respect marty could sing

  • I like the way Marty did it. He wrote the song.

  • I whole-heartedly agree with you!!!

ELVIS could sing it like no-one else!!!

Marty is good, too, and I know that he wrote it!!! I have heard him do it with more feeling than this time, though--think that I have the LP!!!

  • Most underrated country star along with Waylon Jennings, Buck Owens and Conway Twitty.

  • I love this guy singing.

  • Marty Robbins was no "average" singer. He was truly blessed with remarkable talent.

  • Elvis or Marty? Who "owned" this song? I doubt that this controversy, about which so many of us are so passionate, can be resolved. However, I do believe that we should judge from the recordings, not from the concert performances which (especially in the case of Elvis) vary all over the place. PLEASE listen to "livingadream2's" posting of "You Gave Me A Mountain" — not this live video — before rendering your verdict on Robbins.

  • (Part 1 of 2) The current crop of male Country and Western stars mostly sound the same to me. Can the same be said of the giants of yesteryear? Hank Williams, Tex Ritter, Hank Snow, Johnny Horton, et. al? Jim Reeves, of course, had a beautiful voice by any measure. But the champion in this respect, though this particular video may not do him the most justice, was the immortal Marty Robbins.

  • (Part 2 of 2) Jut sample the YouTube offerings of his great hits. I am not at all original in claiming that Marty Robbins — whose voice was as distinctive in color and timbre as it was beautiful — was the most vocally gifted of all the great country, western, and pop stars of his golden musical age.

  • I think he sings this with a lil more emotion on his records. His records damn near bring me to tears. Im not even a country fan and i have the most respect for Marty.

  • Frank Laine, the Benny Hill of the music industry, but props for attempting the "mountian".

  • Frankie Laine made this song a hit and no one... not even the King's version comes close.

  • Nobodysang this song like Elvis. This dude is nowhere close to the emotions and passion mr. Presley put into it. Robbins version is different and OK, but ....his singing ability was not as good as his song writing. His voice is quite average, nothing special..just OK. His stage outfit is terrible. Made him look like an old fool. To his defence many artists looked even worse. Anyway, what impresses me with Robbins is the way he write the lyrics. Wonderful. On that field he was truly talented.

  • Oh my word! Okay.... first of all it is apparent that you are not a true country music fan. That became apparent when you said "this DUDE". Elvis did do an amazing job on the song. But this song is Marty's creation. No one can sing it with more emotion than the person who put the song into motion. The song came from somewhere deep in Marty's emotions that he put out there to share with the world.

  • 2nd of all... as for his suit I personally would love to be able to collect these old Rhinestone suits once worn by the artists of Country musics glory years. It is apparent that the "fool" may be the fella who decided to come on here and comment about an amazing performer, writer and entertainer. Since you think his voice is "average" then I guess we don't have to worry about you coming around here anymore and we can get back to discussing his greatness.

  • ivagandu - have you lost all sense of reality? I'm as big an EP fan as there is walking (hence my YT handle), however, if you say this version of YGMAM by Marty Robbins was of "average" voice, then you're tone deaf. I like this version (Marty's) as much or maybe MORE than Elvis'. Marty Robbins had one of the most beautiful voices in the history of recorded music. Are you crazy? If not, your comments made you sound so. And, btw, I don't own the first MR song, but I can stillappreciate talent.

  • Elvis is and always will be # 1 The greatest voice ever. But Even I must admit nobody did this song like Marty not even Elvis and there is no greater fan of Mr. E P then I...

  • I loved Marty Robbins; he is missed by many who loved his music; his music will live on! FIVE stars! (Everytime I hear him sing, I am reminded of my daddy; he loved him, too! Just lost my daddy last year; how I miss him! :( )

  • i read that marty liked elvis and he gave this song to elvis to record

  • Elvis never recorded it. only did it live

  • Elvis easily took this song to a whole new level, so much more passion and emotion in the song when Elvis sings it......

  • I think Marty has as much emotion as anyone and I personally love him but cannot stand Elvis :(((

  • isn't it great....opinions, tastes, it's what makes the world go round, i love him you hate him... i'm going to look more into Marty's stuff tho......

  • I should hear "My Woman, My Woman, My Wife".....unbelievable depth!!!

  • What a wonderful talent!!

  • Elvis is number One in my heart for the Rock and Roll stuff but I like Marty Robbin's doing this better than Presley. Both were, still, and will forever be Legends.

  • He wrote great song, but performance by Elvis is much more powerful and impressive. Elvis was brilliant singer, Marty Robbins was remarkable songwriter. IMHO

  • Absolutely the most beautiful version ever of this song. Maybe it's because I've never been an Elvis Presley fan, but I think it's more because no one could ever match the beauty of Marty's voice, nor could anyone match the feeling and sincerity he sings with.

  • It Brings back the good old days

  • This version is not better than Elvis Presley rendition. Elvis took this song to a a new level

  • A more natural voice than Elvis. He is singing in heaven.

  • great song, great singer. he is a legend. idk why everybody is downing it

  • Sounds to me like Marty, Frankie and Elvis all threw this song away. If you want to hear it sung with feeling straight from the heart, check out Big Ted Lee's version

  • good job, loc 139! to those who did not enjoy this, please check out the studio version. very powerful! it would be great if someone could post the original version by marty.i believe they would change their mind. thanks again.

  • Elvis, Frankie Laine and Marty Robbins are among my favorite singers!!!! Listen to Johnny Bush sing You Gave Me A Mountain....much better than the Elvis or Frankie Laine versions.

  • he wrote this song and sings it beautifully!!!!

  • Well, you have this man to thank for the song - he wrote it and a lot other great songs besides. He also sang them damn well.

  • Why? If you dont like it dont watch it!!!!

  • I'm so in love....

  • god this is so much better than elvis, thanks

  • this has to be in my top 5 favorite songs. so sad. my grandpa's brother told me he used to go out honky tonkin with marty cause he was a country DJ. said he was a super nice guy

  • this is so great

  • So good!

  • my uncle micks song xxxrip..
