Everything else is self-explanatory.

  • 1:01 harry james; 1:16 The Whistler-suspense show; 1:21 The Sea Wolf-recent movie release; 1:30 so was Henry VIII; 1:38 Aldrich Family-teen comedy; 2:04 Freckles -popular book (title character was male!); 2:25 Lady in the Dark -play by Moss Hart; 2:30 Brass -20's silent film, Harry James again; 2:32 Gene Krupa; 2:36 Benny Goodman (pie-eyed=drunk); 2:52 Saratoga Trunk-popular film; 2:57 so was Hudson's Bay (bay = slang for big gut).

  • 2:43 the Arkansas Traveler is Bob Burns, forgotten radio personality who created the word "bazooka".

  • 2:32 who's the drummer?

  • 4:40 good bit is this is real song or part of one?

  • Krupa was featured in the 1946 Warner Bros. cartoon Book Revue in which a rotoscoped version of Krupa's drumming is used in an impromptu jam session

  • daffy duck is the craziest character from looney tunes.

  • Ah, bulochkis...

  • Old daffy is the best daffy :)

  • Beethoven "Moonlight" Sonata is the music introducing the bookstore! I wonder what Ludwig van would have thought?

  • When I was a kid daffy made me think of Michael Jackson in this cartoon.

  • holy shit... Benny goodman!

  • The awkward moment when you realize that the female's hottie went from Frank Sinatra to a crappy, homosexual pop singer who's name is not to be named.

  • Hearing Daffy Duck scat singing just floors me!@

  • FRANKIE!!! AAAHHHHH!!!!!

  • Always been difficult to understand that part 4:39 - 5:00. Only few of the words. LOL

  • this is probably the craziest Looney Tunes cartoon ive ever seen

  • I loved Daffy in this. Too funny :D

  • whats that song that Daffy sings at 3:55 ?

  • Notice the blue book at 2:49 "Familiar Quotations". It has 2 profanities that are partially hidden but you can make out what they say. One quote at the bottom of the book is "go to hell" and another is "damn the torpedoes". These animators slipped in quite a few over-the-top scenes in their cartoons during a time when the Hays office had tight control on things like profanity and sexual situations.

  • YOOOOOOOOOU ARE GUILTY AND SENTENCED TO LIFE! NO! YES! NO! YES! NOOOYEEEEEEEEEES! YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO MEEEEEEE! *oooooh ahhhhhhhh* I'M A CITIZEN SEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! D'B *bong*

  • 0:31 - 0:47 Moonlight Sonata! :O

  • This is how i love seeing daffy portrayed instead of the modern version.

  • 1:50 love their portrayal of Frank Sinatra, still funny.

  • @TheTrit0n Old blue eyes himself.

  • "Bismillah! Let me go!" Ha. Was thinking that, during the court scene. This one's still fun, even after all these years.

  • more than 60 years and still great

  • amazing!

  • Megan

  • lol all the girls falling all over themselves for frank Sinatra.... lot of very old referances here..all those people are long gone.

  • This is one of my favorite Robert Clampett cartoons. Thanx for uploading!! :) It put a big influence on me.

  • man, they just don't make cartoons like this anymore...it's just sad that the kids of today don't know what they're missing :'(

  • @Renaki0586 I would make kids of today watch this rather than the new junk. If they don't like it, what could I do?

  • 6:34 Stop That Dancing up there !!!! You sillies...

  • No, this was made in MCMLV (1945)

  • @MrKuwaitwolf But was released in January of 1946. This is also the very last LT with Porky's TTThat's All Folks. all subsequent LT's feature the "That's All Folks" written within the concentric circles as the Merrie Melodies

  • HA-HA...even that wolf got hypnotized by Frankie upon hearing him. XD

  • Thumbs up if you think these awesome shows back then is the reason why you are a bit insane!

    I know I am =)

  • Fraaaaankieee!

  • Classic

  • one of the best looney tunes shorts ever

  • COCARACHA!!!!!

  • There is no way that anything seen in the Loony Tunes or Merrie Melodies cartoons can happen in real life or people will allow you to do these things (Listen to the Mythbusters, Do not try anything you see on TV at home, ever)

  • That drummer was kicking ass.

  • STOP THAT DANCING UP THERE!!...ya sillies. :3

  • wow i haven'tseen this one in ages

  • It's Frankie!! *faints*

  • Cartoons like that are unbeatable.

  • Halarious and is a instant classic.

  • 1 of my fav's!!!

  • I remember an Animaniacs episode like this, except with movies. This must've been their inspiration :p

  • @Auron12786 really??. lame ass shitty Speilberg owned Animaniacs "borrowing" ideas from better cartoons?..do you think so??

  • Favorite part 3:42-5:00

  • Hahah i remember watching this episode so much even though it scared me back then

  • These classic Daffy Duck cartoons are the best!

It's just a shame that someone thought it was a good idea that Daffy should be rivals with Bugs Bunny to the point where he becomes completely overshadowed by him :(

  • Who is Daffy supposed to be?

  • @NinjaDragon22 Danny Kaye

  • Wow! Wow! Wow! Today is the first time I am watching this cartoon in 15 years! Saw it first when I was just 8 years old and I have been looking for this cartoon on YT for almost 3 years now! So glad I found it!!!!!! :D :D

  • Cherokee Strip FTW

  • 6:07 Skid Row?

  • Yay, Benny! I love this old cartoon!

  • GINGER ALERT! @ 2:04

  • Bahahahah! I forgot about this cartoon!! Oh my god, AMAZING! Oh man, I feel so bad for the kids of today who've missed out on cartoons like this. Such amazing stuff! Thanks for putting it up! :)

  • CUCARAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

  • @Greenstarfanatic Cucaracha, cucaracha, hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo! Cucaracha, cucaracha, hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!!!

  • daffy duck dancing with a cute little girl, pretty cute scene

  • Ummmm Henry the Eight, my friend why do you have an ass that......wide?!?!?!hahahahahaha

  • Thank you SOOOOOO much for uploading this. I loved this as a child and laughed my head off as an adult! The good old days... x

  • UUUUUUU WOWW THE LAW HAS LONGGGG ARMSSSS....

  • That wolf is definitely gay.

  • Zoorang, zoorang, zoorang, zoorang -- where did they come up with this stuff?

  • Comment removed

  • I think they did a similar cartoon on Animaniacs involving a video store, anybody remember the title of that one?

  • @FerretJohn It was called Video Revue, of course! :)

  • I love Daffy doing a parady of Danny Kaye! The accent and scatting is great. Also, the blonde hair Danny had in the 40s when he had to bleach his hair looks great on Daffy, lol.

  • @Neverland110 but daffy wasn't a homosexual.

  • @marksjersey856 Neither was Danny. Do some research. He was married to his wife, Sylvia Fine Kaye, for 47 years. He had a daughter who he adored, Dena. He was a big flirt with women on the sets of his movies. People who knew him including Glynis Johns laughed out loud when someone asked if he was gay. Producer Perry Lafferty said he saw no evidence that he was gay in all the time he knew him. He did have a few affairs with women which have been documented. Shirley Maclaine was one of them.

  • 5:45-6:03

    My favorite part!

  • Pause it at 5:16 and look at the face on the baby ... Bwwhaaahaaa! I love the way the animators slip in quick, borderline subliminal, little things like that.

I don't care what anyone says: Computer generated crap animation will never touch this stuff. Every frame done by hand with love and talent.

  • @GeoJ - AMEN, couldn't agree more. I'm old school & the crap they have now... is just sh t. Those were true ARTISTS back then w/ REAL IMAGINATIONS. Can't stand the STUPID cartoons they have now. 8:15 pm 11-18-11

  • @GeoJ 20 years or so and CGI models still can't quite show expressions very well.

  • @GeoJ AMEN BROTHER!!!!!!

  • Absolutely love this one ... Totally surreal and brilliant. And you gotta love the way they "slipped in" an ad for Lucky Strikes ("So round, so firm, so fully packed. So easy on the draw ...") :-)

  • What's the title of the song by 'Frankie'?

  • @mumusings It had to be you. By the way Frankie is Frank Sinatra...

  • @Zylen92

I can never get bored of listening to frank sinatra's music.

  • @pixargod who can?

  • @pixargod best part

  • This is the REAL Daffy Duck.

  • Of course, Daffy impersonates Danny Kaye {Danny Boy"}. Reference to Jimmy Durante's "schnozzola" {"So Big"} at 6:05....

  • Originally released in January 1946. Lots of topical references to Harry James {"Young Man With A Horn"; and he indeed played off-camera for Kirk Douglas when the movie based on the book was released in 1950}, "The Whistler" {a popular West Coast mystery/suspense program}, "THE ALDRICH FAMILY" {whose famous radio show opening was, "Hen-ry! HENRY ALDRICH!!"/"Coming, Mother..."}, Frank Sinatra {"The Voice"}, Tommy Dorsey {2:27}, Gene Krupa {2:32}, Benny Goodman {2:36}...

  • 2:31 Krupa

  • Heeeeeeenry! Heeeeenry!! Ahh gotta love that part. Lol

  • Bob Clampett ROCKS! Call Chuck Jones or Friz Freleng the greatest, sure, but Clampett will forever be my favorite.

"CUCARAAAAAAAAAAAAACHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Cucaracha! Cucaracha! Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo! Cucaracha! Cucaracha! Woo-hoo! Woo-hoo! Woo! WOo-hoo!"

  • Daffy Duck making an impression of Danny Kaye??? WTF????

  • @LoboBrasileiro1 man i don't know how you understood him but you got it down to a science

  • 4:40 he says the big bad wolf in a suits a gay Rofl

  • daffy duck is the MAN!!!!

  • i have this dvd

  • Originally released on January 5, 1946.

Nice to see a print with ORIGINAL titles. The "Blue Ribbon" re-issue version of this cartoon misspelled the title as "Book Review."

  • The Animaniacs did a version of this called "Movie Revue", set in a video store.

  • Can anyone break down what daffy is singing from 4:40 on please!!!!

  • @carloss187 he was saying big bad wolf is in granma's bed great big ears he wil eat your rean your reins

  • Nothin... Can bee feener in the mooornin!!! Hahaha good olde 1940 cartoons

  • do you know what episode is , where daffy duck is singing the " only you " ?

  • amazing and hilarious! thanks!

  • @PissedPlayinPimp - Yes, that sound effect was his trademark with his later cartoons. That might be my favorite of the WB sound effects. I'm sorry WB couldn't have recorded it and made it a permanent sound effect after Clampett left the studio in 1946.

  • @WSenator1 They did make it part of their library. The effect turns up in a few cartons after Clampett left, including the end of Chuck Jones' "Much Ado About Nothing."

  • @thesafekind - I always knew the WB folks were smart! Thanks for the info.

  • lol the begining song its the same as the one in spider man web of shadow

  • 3:52 Daffy pimp strutting like a boss

  • 4:39 -5:00

  • so round, so firm so fully packed!!! ahahahahahh

  • @timdogg418 The original Lucky Strikes ad patter from the Jack Benny Show - so round, so firm, so fully packed, so easy on the draw.

  • Bob Clampett is a genius. Plain and simple.

  • I laugh out loud at the "Freckles" part!

  • Danny Kaye

  • Who is Daffy playing with blond wig and purple jacket?

  • @Jenna424 Danny Kaye.

  • god faints every time franky feels like singing xD

  • Mel Blanc, the voice, the artist, the genius. God bless him!

  • The guy on the cover of So Big at 6:04 is wearing a purple shirt and has brown hair atop his head. At 6:05 when he turns his head, both his shirt and hair disappear.

  • Benny Goodman is the Pied Piper, Gene Krupa the drummer, Harry James on trumpet ... who else we got?

  • @jpdemers Is it Harry James? I'm pretty sure it's Glenn Miller on trombone.

  • @rhumbustification yeah, you're right. that definitely looks like Glenn Miller.

  • 6:07 Trollface!

  • 2:17 is pure 24k gold.

  • Robert Clampett is an effing genius!

  • 4:39-BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

MY RIBS R KILLING ME HAHAHA>>>>SOMEBODY CALL THE DOCTOR ALREADY!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

  • CUCOO CUCOO "ITS TWELVE O CLOOOOOCK!"

  • "Daffy Duck"is defineatly mimicking Danny Kaye and his singing and double talking comedic style.

  • if somebody could tell me word for word what daffy sais starting at 4:38 i would praise them

  • @lilsmall1 *in between the scatting, here it is: 1st: Big bad wolf in suit, 2nd: Grandma's bed, 3rd: great big ears, 4th: better to hear you with, 5th: hey what eyes you got, 6th: to see you with, 7th: great big teeth, and 8th: to eat you up. zurang, zurang, zurang.......... Does that answer your question? ;)

  • 4:41-5:02 love that part

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH *falls over* frankie!

  • It's funny watching these cartoons that were such a big part of your childhood and picking up on things that were lost on you as a kid (i.e. identifying the famous singers and musicians like Frank Sinatra,Glenn Miller, and Gene Krupa, a personal hero of mine).

  • does anyone know whats the name of the song played in the beginning? (that classical piece?) you would really help me out!

  • @F19GZ That's Beethoven's famous "Moonlight Sonata", the first movement. Sets the mood nicely, doesn't it?

  • @Vincek88 thanks!

  • The song that the judge & the wolf sings always makes me laugh!

Also, I can do Red Riding Hood's scream too!!

  • hell yah this is a hilarious cartoon daffy duck is the shit!!

  • Thilliez

  • Clampett and Avery's Daffy are the best 30-40s daffy the funny wise quackin Daffy Duck I mean his DAFFY for god sakes... Idk how they turn a wise quackin duck into a greedy ass self centered duck... And I still say Daffy is funnier than Bugs

  • Yo! Is it just me or the wolf growls sounds like King from Tekken?
