HORRIBLY gridlocked Westside needs Subway A.S.A.P. - 2022 is too long to wait. 2022 is "best case scenario" MTA reps advised me of this Summer @ Century City Mall info sharing event.
Today 6/16/11, MTA reps came to Century City Mall, to hear from us... the public, working/living on Westside, which for many years, had suffered with gridlock, due to the fact tons of ppl live/work here & many MORE visit, even without any Rapid Red Bus from LAX to highly popular Century City/Beverly Hills area. Anyway.. .reps said, best case (most optimisitc) scenario (assuming funding isn't scrapped by D.C. greedy nitwits), Subway reaches Century City sometime betw: 2022-2026. YIKES!
@atlboy82 Just did some research. Sounds fantastic! Thanks for the post. What a great Mayor! I'm emailing Congress as we speak to help get the 30/10 project passed! Very Cool!
LA isn't so much over-crowded but we get around so inefficiently here. dense residential and commercial near transit, and palm trees and suburban infill. i love it. plus we can drive to the snow or the desert on weekends. Long Beach, Glendale, Pasadena, Santa Ana, Anaheim, Hollywood, Downtown LA. all large cities in their own right. This is why people who talk shit on california can suck it. you're totally jealous.
They need to extend into Santa Monica for this to really make the positive impact they're looking for. A subway under the Sepulveda pass would have been nice as well...
i visualize santa monica blvd stations at vine and at western then hit present redline but not at highland. development will fill in along santa monica blvd east of la brea.
The subway to the Westside will be the most significant subway line to be built in LA as Wilshire Blvd. corridor has around 40% of the entire County's commercial office stock! Talk about taking cars off the street for people that will be able to take the subway to work!

Final piece won't go in until at least 2036 about 25 years from now. I'm glad my kids and grandkids will enjoy it.

I'm all for this! Whatever it takes to get more cars off the street. LA streets are way too overcrowded.

Would love to see Metro work in the South Bay Cities (Torrance, Hawthorne, Lawndale, Beach Cities)
