The first one, Alves dominated the stand up, knocked Fitch down, then got caught with an upkick and Fitch tko'ed him afterward. Second fight, Alves didn't make weight and appeared very lethargic. To say that BJ has an edge is short-sighted. If you look at Matt's history of fights, he is in the same standing as BJ. Hughes should have lost to GSP, just as most should (including penn). Hughes shouldn't have lost to Alves, but, then again, he shouldn't have agreed to the catch-weight for that fight. BJ lost to hughes and Edgar (both times) by getting dominated. He's also known to gas. If Hughes makes it out of the first, I can almost guarantee he wins it. If not, BJ wins by sub or KO 1st.

The first one, Alves dominated the stand up, knocked Fitch down, then got caught with an upkick and Fitch tko'ed him afterward. Second fight, Alves didn't make weight and appeared very lethargic. Even though Fitch controlled most of the fight, he never finished Alves.

Idk alot of people are forgetting Bj penn has 2 fight lost streak, and hughes 3 fight wins in dominant fashion. People forget how much confidence can play a factor in a fight. I mean last time they meet Bj Penn was in his prime coming off a loss to gsp, neither are in their prime now. I would dare not count either of this guys out but Bj has alot riding 3 losses in a row is very rare and stay in business usually 4th would be the axe.

Hughes won his last 3 by fighting good fighters but not top level..frankie would be too fast for hughes and would beat him too. BJ is the better fighter and should win by rear naked choke or possible KO early. The longer the fight goes the better for Matt chances since BJ will slow. I just don't think Matt will make it outta the 1st!

If penn comes in shape and serious like he has as LW Champ (except for his last 2 fights) He will beat Hughes again. He was winning the 2nd fight til he got gased and thats when he was out of shape. If Hughes is gonna stand up with Penn, then he's gonna lose pretty bad, because his standup is very bad comparing to Penn's standup's. BJ Penn strikes are very effective and he's also elusive. To say that BJ has an edge is short-sighted. If you look at Matt's history of fights, he is in the same standing as BJ. Hughes should have lost to GSP, just as most should (including penn). Hughes shouldn't have lost to Alves, but, then again, he shouldn't have agreed to the catch-weight for that fight. BJ lost to hughes and Edgar (both times) by getting dominated. He's also known to gas. If Hughes makes it out of the first, I can almost guarantee he wins it. If not, BJ wins by sub or KO 1st.

Edgar has BJ's weakness in leaps and bounds : Speed. if you're faster than BJ Penn, you can get inside and get out before BJ can grab you, you can beat BJ
Hughes doesnt have that speed, Hughes has strength, but Hughes hasnt really improved since the second BJ fight, BJ has
