I *am* a Christian. And like most normal Christians I both know and do not care that there are contradictions in the Bible. I take the Bible seriously; therefore, I can *not* take it literally.

People who hate can focus on the hateful passages in the holy books of others, those who love can focus on the compassionate elements in their own traditions. The Koran explicitly states that Muslims should respect other faiths, so whatever these angry people are complaining about, it's not the historical message of the book. It's some other interpretation of it, a straw man that gives then permission to emote. If people judged all Christians by one aberrant version of Christianity, Jim Jones for example, then all Christians would look pretty ridiculous.

The only thing that's really clear, crunk601, is your misapprehension that everyone in the world speaks English. What one "calls" god is irrelevant and varies from language group to language group. Islam, Judaism, and Christianity are all Abrahamic religions. They are from the same tradition and are all based in the God, or Allah, of the Old Testament.

Many traditional Christian theologians disagree with you on that one. It has long been understood that there are many contradictions in the Bible and that that is acceptable because it's not *meant* to be taken literally.
