How many crashes has he survived all these years? Good grief. What great courage to keep on keepin on after all he and his family have been through. Keep the shiny side up
I was at that race, Force needed to set at least one national record (I think both ET & speed) win the event and have Cruz go out 1st round in order to win the championship. He was going for broke on every run. If I remember correctly that was a qualifying run.
Cool to see home video footage, you dont have all the YAK YAK YAK from the commentators.I have several from the Texas motorplex, prolly to old to play now though.
Force takes off straight, Rams car is drifting towards Force, Force alterers his course moves to the right of his lane and with all that grunt breaks out and spins out. Ive also seen people do it in the wet in average cars whilst overtaking at speed.
One contaminated tyre usually flips them straight away.
I remember talking to John Force in Bristol back in 2000. I told him if he wins that event, I would drag race Jr Dragsters when I was old enough he promised me he would win. He kept his word and I kept mine.

I hate Force now. Why cheer a driver with 14 Championships and 120 wins? RETIRE! RETIRE! I was at Brainerd for his 1990 fire and win. That is my #1 Force moment I guess.
ive seen john race at least 8 times.. and ive seen daughters races once<3 there amazing.. i my dad and i race to and those 6 sec down the like are intense and focus
That was close. I still remember the time you rode the wheelie bar for 500ft. front end 4ft up in the purple Nitro Bandit. 94/96 I think. That was a mean looking car.
who was force racing here? i was there but I was across the street on that little grass hill w/ a case of beer and a cheeseburger. ah the good old days.
I think its so awesome this video surfaced. I witnessed this live at my 3rd NHRA race when I was 15 yrs old. I was seated within 100 ft or so of the person who shot this clip. I still have the pictures of the car being towed back to the pits with the roof all scuffed up. If you have any more videos from this event or other Pomona stuff i'd like to check em out.
First guy to qualify upside down!

So many non-race fans posting with opinions that make no sense. No what your talking about before putting your mouth in gear.

How did his car do that? Was there oil under the tires or something?

I suppose you think electricity and indoor plumbing were just invented last week also?
Thats a great idea, why dont you go ahead and suggest we fry chicken, maybe sell loafs of bread that are already sliced.

That was a fun one, I was pulling on the brake hoping it would set down. If I'd pulled that one off it would have been hard to beat.
Thanks for remembering.

John had already lost the championship at the previous round so it wasn't that much of a problem.
MrMcKane 5 years ago
This was qualifying on Saturday and John needed to qualify to stay in the running. He lost the Championship the following day during eliminations.
