  • I will agree that there is no right translation, but there are definitely wrong translations.

  • I love it!!!

  • This song is in Love Comes Softly but without the words. I just love this song.

  • I love David Crowder Band and this is one of my favorite songs because of them.

  • I sang this at my church.

  • my good friend whose been a Christian sense me and him where young says that he is going to try out partying, and he said he will probably turn back to God some time but hey its summer. I don't know what to say to him. Hes always been one of those friends that would always be there when my faith is being tested. now i need to be there for him. i just don't know what to tell him.

  • @MidgetMadness0

Tell him he isn't guaranteed tomorrow and the Lord could be using now or you could ask him what he's going to tell Jesus if Jesus asks him "Why did you waste time partying when you could have been winning souls for my kingdom?"

  • @MidgetMadness0 I'm sorry if I'm a little late in replying..but ask him this. 'What did Christ save you from?' He saved us from hell, and although we're still in these fleshly bodies, it's different when you purposely sin. Along with partying comes plenty of sin that gets us so far away from Christ. The bible tells us to loved God mind, soul, strength..etc...there's actually a couple of verses that backs that. If we purposely fail at serving God,how are we showing him any sort of love? God bless

  • I've got one problem with the modern version of this song - they've left out some of the greatest lines from the orginally song to make it more acceptable to those who don't like to think of sin, wrath and what they've actually been saved from.

  • DIOS TE BENDIGA!!!

  • OPHELIAwatercolorDRM ... the pagan Scottish. Harsh! Thanks for all the encouragement to your brothers on this side of the water.

    David (Scotland)

  • It saddens my heart to see this. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the Life. He is a merciful and loving God who forgives each of us daily by giving us a "new slate." Just let me say this: the bible is holy and there is no right or wrong translation. God is just, but God is good. Jesus calls us to love others and I don't see too much love in some of the comments below. God so loved the world, which means every culture and every people. Good people, bad people... God loved, so should we.

  • sbt40.

    Thats not entirely true.

Over the years, and languages they have left out parts of the bible that might be important. True no translation, in itself, is wrong. Although they all are missing parts, probably.

  • yeah probably. thats why we have to have faith and believe that we have the whole Bible. I'm only 13 and I know that.

  • gonnashavemyhead.

    I know that too.

I've had my doubts about the whole "is the bible actually true?" thing, but I believe it is.

  • The answer is.....If you are ready to face the JUDGEMENT DAY...that's fine.BIBLE is our defend.

  • @ganonhero

    And who told you that?

  • I agree with you and I apologize if I have in any way contributed to that negativity.... I had read others bashing some folks and it made me upset.I just was trying to defend them because it is not right when folks are trying to worship to have others attacking the way they praise God. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. We should be loving others more. You are very right to say this.

  • @sbt40 God said all will know we are his disciples by the love we have among ourselves, and mercy triumphs over judgment, and I hope I never forget that. Read my testimony, I will never forget the mercy Jesus showed me@ the altar of a small church in Denver called Victory outreach. He then led me to the Salvation Army, where I minister to the lost, and hurting. I pray I never become so heavenly minded, I become of no earthly good.

  • well, maybe there is room for this view - that the Bible is complete, but also that the inspired writers do definitely make mention of and quote books which were not included in the Bible, such as The Book Of Enoch (which was quite ighly regarded in early Cristian circles).

  • There are even letters that are left out or lost for example Paul's severe letter and possibly others. Obviously, some things we need to reject if they go against the truth in the gospel but you are correct that there is mention of some other books. I would be careful on the circles though - some of the early christian fathers had opposing views and agendas.

  • It is arrogant of us to "make the assumption" that JESUS only approves of "one type" of music variation when he makes us each so detailed and beautiful in our own culture. This song sung by asians, africans, and yes even the pagan Scottish (I am mostly Scottish btw) is beautiful if it is sung with tears and by the heart...It is this narrow minded poison that is to blame for racism and raping other people of their culture... when are we going to stop thinking every christian must look like us?

  • I'm with switchfoortrelientk on this one, yet i dont hear any bass rock line in this I hear bag pipes and they are awesome sounding and beauty lights up my thoughts when i hear them and if rock isnt your thing dont diminish it from others let others worship in their own way if we all worshiped to one hymm and one sound the christian population would be very minumal and i kid you not. Many people can worship in many different ways dont judge them because of it. If God is at work, God is at work

  • one thing that concernces me is the Bible says be ye conscious of other religions, you shouldn't jump all over another person if they believe somethin that you don't. I'm a christian and have read the quran and other religious books but i'm still a christian he believes what he wants.

  • Where does it say that?

  • i agree jar head i dont remember reading that

  • I go by what John 14:6 says. Yes, I recognize people's right to choose their religions. I'm also aware that no other religious leader can get us to Heaven except for Jesus Christ!

  • Sorry your translation is incorrect (once again). KJV John 14:6 states: "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." This is not at all saying to recognize other religions, it is infact saying that the only way to get to heaven is threw Jesus Christ! Also, one of the 10 Commandments is to "You shall have no other gods before me". I think you need to think about what you are saying and doing. Luckly you have salvation from your sin.

  • You apparently misunderstood. I was saying that while people have the freedom to choose their religions in a legal sense, ultimately, we all have to answer to Jesus. I even make the latter clear in my last sentence. Hopefully, you see what I'm saying now. I hope your sins are covered by salvation also.

  • Yes...I see your viewpoint. I did confuse you with TAMAvsDW and I thought he was basing his viewpoints on John 14:6...my apologizes lovinnotes

  • What a pity to see folks jumping all over Brophala. A Muslim, he's explaining his faith. The Jesus adherents here seem to be demanding in the unkindest terms that he accept their belief system. Yet isn't it true that they will know you are Christians by your love? I encourage you to read the posts above and ask yourself if they demonstrate love. Is a man more likely to choose to learn about your God with encouragement or with rebuke?

  • well put! the gospel of Jesus Christ is a gospel of love. we need to love everyone, regardless of faults or differing beliefs.

  • this is way too rock. it ruins the sanctity of the hymn.

  • JoeCool-

I've read in the bible, "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord." Granted, personal taste in music may cause you to prefer one style over another, but I really don't think any joyful noise diminishes God.

  • a song of the righteous is a prayer unto the lord. but there's a certain level of respect that should go along with it and it's hard to achieve that or a peaceful mindset with rockin bass lines or sweet guitar solos. it's a good version, just not the best. no disrespect intended.

  • I'm not hearing the rockin bass lines; I'm hearing the music of Scotland- bagpipes, which to my ear are beautiful, sacred instruments.

    I've always loved this tune.

  • In terms of music, whatever works for you and please God is fair game. It's a matter of personal preference.

According to your philosophy, anything short of an a capella version of this would be a disgrace, since instruments take the focus off of the words.

I do understand your viewpoint though, and you're more than entitled to it.

    In Christ,

    Mike

  • we were singing this song in my choir..it made me & my friedn sleepy..haha..

  • AWESOME SONG YEA BABY I FOUND IT!

  • Love this song!

  • and just maybe he'll realize that Jesus is the only way.

  • voightsan, you made the same mistake. any time you refer to God, whichever name you choose to call Him by should be capitalized. even "His". don't cut down the person that made it to start off with. show them your Savior's Love.

  • is there an a capella version of this song?

  • Brophala, Omnipotence is the character trait of God that describes His ability to know and be all things. However to say that the truth that God has a Son turns the sovereignty of God on its head diminishes an essential characteristic of God, His justice. God had to punish sin and Jesus Christ was the only one who could bear our sin.So to say that God does not have a Son is to say that God lets sin go unpunished and that is simply demeaning to a perfect sinless God.I pray that youfind theTruth

  • My favorite hymn of all times!

  • just an amazing song!!!

  • nhj

  • This is the best version I've found of this song :) Love it

  • I really shouldn't like this, (muslim) but it's a very nice tune.

  • Oh, it's a good thing that you like it because it's truth.

  • Truth? You mean the tune or religious aspect?

  • both

  • I've loved this beautiful, uplifting hymn for years. I don't adhere to a specific faith, tho brought up Christian. I understand Muslims are "people of the book," as are Jews and Christians, and that Muslims consider Jesus a prophet, if not the son of God as do Christians. Is that your belief? If so, what's wrong with liking a tune about a pre-Mohammed prophet?

I'm just curious. Please don't interpret my query as a challenge of any kind. I'm just trying to learn.

    Donna

  • Well, yes we believe that he was a prophet of god. Oh, and because of my western raising I find it easier to say god instead of Allah. Same guy anyway. Well, to be honest I didn't pay attention to the words. However, I've never heard ANY hymn or such concerning Jesus that did not in some way mention him being the son. In Islam one of god's big things is that he has no family. He was never born. To say that he has a son takes away from his omnipotency. Always happy to help curiosity :)

  • The three Persons of the Trinity are co-equal and co-eternal; the only sense in which Jesus was "born" is that He took to Himself a human nature and was physically born into the world so that He could represent humanity on the cross, becoming a substitute for us and taking the wrath of God for our sin upon Himself. Now He is risen from the dead, Lord of all, my Savior. :-)

  • @brophala I don't see how my God having a son takes away from his omnipotency?

  • Great song excellent performance, but uh you seem to be lacking a video.

  • this is my favourite hymn and this an awesome interpretation. God bless.

  • hahahha

  • hahahha

  • Not only does it prove the depth of hyms and their relevance, it proves the depth of God's grace for us.

  • cool

i wish they would have posted the lyrics in the video, but still, cool

  • Amazing new tune to the old hymn...glorious song .....GOD BLESS

  • Oh this is very nice ..God bless you ...

  • speaks words that a song in 1757 is still as relevant today as it was then - proves the depth of hyms and their relevance.
