  • I hear this song more in the vein of the Four Lads than doo wop. This original gets my vote as far better than the Happinings well done, more successful re-make. The Tempos version does a far better job of capturing the soul and essense of two student sweethearts saying goodbye for the summer.

  • one of many songs that i like to hear of the''american graffitti'' soundtrack.love it :)

  • This was also recorded by The Mike Curb Congregation.

  • very interesting to compare the two

  • Prefer the Happening version. Nice version however.

  • The Happenings' quicker-paced version is far superior to this lumbering "Your Hit Parade" original. Thanks for posting though!

  • @peeterpoon Superior or different? The Tempos cha-cha beat was very popular in 1959. I know-I was there. That being said, I prefer the Happenings version too.

  • @dewey44 Sorry but I prefer this version of "See you in Sept." mainly because it was made for up close dancing with the girls. lol Loved those High School dances.

  • @686204 : I agree. The Tempos version was the original version and in my opinion, the better version.

  • @dewey44 - You could argue that the rhythm was also appropriate for rumba or bolero as well.
