I play clean 90% of the time, so the Noiseless sound right to me. My 98 Deluxe Strat have the Noiseless. I play through a Fender Blues Deluxe. Yeah Baby.....
ive got a mexi 50s strat with vintage noiseless it used to have the SCN,the vintage are alot smoother and less glassy weird overtones to my ear, upgraded to add a TBX tone control now its just a really great sounding GTR
The Noiseless seems to be much more lower(got more bass) than SCN. What is the wood of the guitar loaded with SCN ??
I got a strat with ash body last year and loaded with Texas Special. It turns to one piece of shit. Too bright, and now I don t know where to put the blame ... on the pickup or on the ash body.
Both bodies are Ash. These will sound completely different that the Texas Specials. Try changing the volume pot to a lower value if you think they are too bright. I am finding out that the noiseless on my Am Dluxe are different than the noiseless sets you buy separately.
Hi Paisa. A standard single coil pickup has a 60 cycle hum. They can be quite noisy, especially on a high gain amp. On the noiseless pickups, their design is the same principle as a humbucker, so that there is no hum. They are virtually silent in all positions, but still sound like a single coil Strat pickup.
Yes, Seymour Duncan and Dimarzio both make these designs, but there are vast differences in the output of various models. These aren't like the SD "hot rail", which is a high output pickup. These are much lower output, hence the term "vintage"
Hi Lucho. It's a Seymour Duncan Custom 5 Trembucker. Very full sounding pickup, but not too powerful, so that it is a good mix with the SCN's. With the ebony fretboard on this Strat and that pickup, it really is close to a Les Paul sound when just using the Humbucker.
Mahogany??? They are both Ash bodied Strats, Neither one looks remotely like Mahogany. I guess the video must really lose alot of definition in transfer.
The Aged Cherry Burst is my 2001 American Deluxe Strat. The Transparent Red is my partscaster. The body is from a Fender Deluxe Player. Suprisingly beautiful and solid body for a MIM body.
My 2001 American Deluxe is that one guitar you search for your whole life. It is the best guitar I have ever owned or played. Little Orphan Arnie is his name :)
Nice test, i dont hear too much of a difference, dont know if is youtube audio or the pickups are very similar, samarium pickups seem to have more treble and a bit hotter maybe, anyway i like the vintage better, just because i have them too :0
The audio transfer is awful on youtube. They are similar, but I think the Vintage have a much fuller sound, but the SCN's cut through really well in a mix.
Good demo. I love the sound and am gonna pickup a prewired pickguard very soon.

The SCN pickups sound hotter to me. Vintage sounds better suited for clean stuff.

That's how I hear it too. But add the Fender (Clapton) mid-boost kit to the Vintage noiseless set and WOW...

What are the main differences between default Fender pickups and the vintage noiseless ones?

Ohh. Are they by any chance similar to those Seymour Duncan that are small humbuckers the size of a single coil? I dont remember the exact name.

you should probably use a guitar made of the same wood for comparing pickups... ash and mahogany are slightly different in the tones they create...

sorry. i was thinking that was the mahogany strat that only comes in that finish. i wasn't paying attention to the grain of the wood. :)

@poeman333 i love my guitar. you can see it on my profile. i'm switching out my single coils with SCN's. Her name is Vela :)

In this video I like the vintage noiseless better. They sound more natural to me than the scn.
But I think it is a matter of personal taste.
