  • lol its funny because there is more than twice the carbon monoxide coming from the rock box.

carbon dioxide is not dangerous. carbon monoxide is.

  • I do agree with Jeremy that if we were to persevere with that idea, it would succeed

  • the engine isnt running when he measures the air coming out of that house thing

  • @jjppol1984 It is. It's just that the microphone is on their shirt. When they get near the car, the shirt microphone picks up the sound. When he goes farther though, you can only barely hear it. Shirt microphones are only designed for short range use. You can still hear the car, but it's just very faint.

  • @weinerschnitzelboy i still think it isnt ;) when he bends over you still can hear it, but then suddenly it stops.and come on, do you really think they can actually make such a thing? it's top gear..

  • Who cleans up after them? I feel for him.

  • I actually think that Jeremy's second idea is smart. It's a first attempt but if we invested it could become much more effective.

  • Every time you invent something the whole world bursts with laughter!

  • You'll be on to something Jeremy when you admit that out machines are killing our life support system. Poisoning out space ship beyond recovery. Oh, and there's the small matter of running out of viable oil which has already begun. No oil wont cause any problems will it? I'm sure we'll find plenty of alternatives for farming the worlds food, wont we?

  • I love his genius idea's that you think will work... but fail when put to the test.

  • doesnt carbon monoxide kill plants?

  • @66606cl66 as long as the combustion process gets enough air, you won't get much CO.

  • @66606cl66

CO kills, but CO2 is like O2 for US!!!

  • Comment removed

  • That made me laugh

  • Just brilliant :) WHy don't we decorate the interior of our cars with plants as every breathing human produces hundreds of liters of CO2 every day

  • @irinisva My car is Japanese it produces nuclear radiation.

  • Comment removed

  • lol - The filter was an awesome idea, but at £75 per 6 miles, That's JUST under... £12 per mile! ;)

  • Is it me but when he tests 14.5% CO2 , the car is on and there is gass coming from the exhaust, when he tests the 0% emissions, there is no gass coming from the second exhaust of the car. I CALL SHENANIGANS!!!!!

  • @Vicarious300 It's cold strat you idiot... The car is still running... This is the material with which they remove CO2 on space missions...

  • I am sure that stupidity will commit a suicide after this silly idea of TOP GEAR

OMG . their stupidity is a lethal killer .

  • Thats really smart i mean if u put the tail pipe under the trunk and make the box bigger u can go fifty miles or even more thats the future not freaking priuses every tgats the future

  • Who feels bad for the people that have to clean up these messes?

  • wat episode is this

  • awww i love his face at the very end!

  • And then the lime soda crystals run out of use.

  • Best invention yet!

  • Well GreenPeace is finished, bout damn time!

  • lol...ascarite crystals...

too bad he didn't acount for NOx and Carbon monoxide gases

  • @Jaesango Still, it's a start isn't it? Besides CO doesn't bother me, it doesn't pain me or anything, just so long as my air supply isn't sapped up by it. lol

  • @mastermalpass

lmao, what jeremy did was a complete joke if you didn't get it...

but your comment is the most ignorant thing i've heard...so just because it doesn't directly affect you right now, you won't care about it? You do realize there is a direct correlation between the earth rising temperature and the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere right? So actually, it does affect you.

  • @Jaesango Direct correlation between CO2 and planet temperature? But I was talking about CO!

  • @mastermalpass

made an ass of myself. I apologize.

  • Comment removed

  • @SonicOverlordUK

I'm assuming you removed your post because it was idiotic? Have you even looked at the keeling curve before? Does that look like 1 ppm to you? Oh and btw, we're around 389ppm as of september. I guess that's what you get for looking at a website called "junk" science

  • No I deleted it because I spelt a word wrong, don't assume it makes you look daft, use evidence! Like how ice cores from 140 million years ago to pre-industrial (and this isn't off junk science it is from yale uni's "GEOCARB III: ARMOA CO2 OPT report 2001, dpt. of Geophysics and Geology") show that the ppm declined from 2000ppm to around 250ppm of carbon in the atmosphere and yet Earth's average temp was 22c for 120 mill years untill it declined to 12c over 20 mill years. That idiotic?

  • @SonicOverlordUK

It is if you don't take into account the other main driver of climate, the sun. If you combine solar output with CO2 levels over the past you'll get a very good correlation between CO2 and average temperature. Cf. "CO2-forced climate tresholds during the Phanerozoic"; Royer et al. (2006).

You can't take into account only one of the main drivers of earth's climate to consider any correlation in paleoclimate. No one climatologist of name ever claimed you could. Basic stuff.

  • @SonicOverlordUK

Also, "ice cores from 140 million years ago"???

Where you get them ice cores? ;-)

  • Hey, it could be just the sun doing it or a perfect mixture of both, my main argument is that it isn't JUST Carbon Dioxide on it's own affecting the climate. It's nice to see some people out there have the common decency to try and explain their points. And I don't have a clue how they got the ice cores, alll I know is that they got 'em.

  • @SonicOverlordUK

Both solar output and CO2 levels can contribute to global warming. If you have two heaters in your car and one remains stable, while the other is turned fully on, the consequence will be that the temperature in your car will increase. This is basicially what is happening now - solar output is relatively stable, while CO2 levels are rapidly increasing.

Ice cores go back ~800.000 years max. Geocarb is a model based on a wide variety of proxies.

    You're welcome.

  • @87Bartholomeus The first sane post I've seen.

  • Troll Science IRL

  • I love how environ-"mentalist" come to the conclusion that a billion/s year old climate system is warming up even though they have what maybe 60 to 70 years worth of collective data. That's like viewing a shipwreck through a pin hole....your not going to get the full picture! For all we know the earth could go through heat cycles every few thousand years "cough" the medieval times. Also isn't the sun getting Bigger and Hotter??? Hmmm doesn't the earth get it's heat from the son???

  • @Fordgt401965 yeah probably but I'd rather have clean air to breathe

  • well done Jeremy. I hope scientists try to improve his idea in the near future.

  • LOL! clarkson is a big damned troll sciencetist! that why we love him! hahahaha~

  • seriously??? where is the carbon monoxide from the car that will kill you?

  • He gets less and less hair on his head.

  • I bet they forced The Stig to clean the glass off the track.

  • @DjRjSolarStar Sure, for the Stig that's a light snack.

  • The hoses on the jag are creased and arent actually putting any gas into the crystal box

  • toxic tomatos...

  • Love the idea of the plants sequesturing CO2. I design walkable neighborhoods and made a video about reducing how much we drive. It's at otis31755 Let me know what you think?

    Patrick Cox, AICP

  • Canal ClownMédia!!! afinal, eu que sou o palhaço né... entrem!!

  • Jeremy Clarkson is a genius!

  • i think Jezza should learn to ride a 998 .....thumbs up if u agree !

  • is this a clip of the new ones there making now ? and not on tv yet ?

  • at the end the box that he built stopped the CO2 but i created CO which in many cases is worst for your health and the earth,s

  • Beautiful cars

  • Re bueno-XDD

  • yeah it works when its in park. but how about when your driving?????? thats a lot more co2, think about it.

  • Comment removed

  • The future has arived

  • 400,000 tomato plants :) lol

  • rather than doing this, you could save your money for nearly a year and get a Tesla Roadster but this works too.

  • You have to give him points for trying. ;-) Thanks for the upload!

  • the soundtrack is probably from Mafia 1

  • Dude, if your so against humans then dont burn any CO2 and stop asking me too stop you self centered prick

  • For all the people stating the exhaust air goes down the path of least resistance - even with a merge pipe seen on modern dual exhausts, there would still be a positive pressure in that system that would provide exhaust flow (even if significantly reduced). This would render the test still valid, not accurate, but still valid.

  • Lowest common denominator TV programs and the people that watch them make me sad

  • What episode is this from?

  • For those interested, the meter on the right exhaust is definitely metering exhaust gas, as air is 21% oxygen, and it's only ~13% oxygen from the meter.

  • Blimey was Jeremy feeling okay?

  • repeatedly click 3:27

  • It's so funny,that is unfair.

  • hate spreading neo nazis

  • Racist assholes.

  • However, the tomato plants/lime soda crystals aren't breathing up the open-air CO2 that they would be if they weren't attached to the tail pipe, so the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere for which the vehicle is culpable is the same, right? Or am I missing something?

  • CLARKSON FOR WORLD-EMPEROR!

    WHO'S WITH ME?

  • @LeBartman yes the world will be full of range rovers and jag e-types

  • @LeBartman When he rises with power...

  • How much is it for a new box of rockz? ...........75 grand lolz

  • @r0yAlxbLuNt *pounds not grand

  • @r0yAlxbLuNt

Think he says 75 pounds, lol. 75 grand would be a bit much.

  • @mrvolax yea ur corrrect

  • tomahto plahnts

  • That actually a pretty gud idea

  • the ppl who disliked this are dissapointed fans cuz of the efficiency

  • an other kind of flower ^^

  • ?? ahha why it broken ?

  • I totally thought Jeremy said, "Allen Tit Mouth"

  • Carbon dioxide is not harmful. Its hydrocarbons that are.

  • @Hulowski particulates are hydrocarbons and are made from car engines though

  • @Hulowski

CO2 is harmful to the O2 / CO2 balance on earth. Plants need us to make CO2, and we need them to make O2

  • @cromartie800 Plants need "our" CO2? funny then, vegetal life must have been invented along the internal combustion engie then, right?

  • Genious.

    Literally

    Genious.

  • Genious

  • if the future are built on this technology then people will burn the planet using all the plants for cars. sadddd...

  • @JATR1X Then plant more plants? Its not like you can just all of sudden run out of plants.. You can plant more

    In fact most plant themselves

  • @squidvis yeah, but sooner or later we will approach the point where we'll need more plants then we can plant

  • @JATR1X

Yeah, were kinda screwed, the government and car manufacturers are too invested in oil/gas, and hybrids wont cut it

  • @acenace24 i think electric cars is for the future. there is some great ones even now which develop more then 100bhp and can drive over then 80 km without recharging!

  • @JATR1X big dirty v8s for ever

  • jeremy is the most eccentric man in the world :D

  • Yeah... go GO JEREMY CLARKON!

  • lol 1:59 Ron Weasley xD

  • @vvladdy

    ROOONNNNEEEY!

  • @vvladdy lolz can i borrow your wand ron

  • @vvladdy you're so right xD

is it really him or just a look a like guy .

  • @theNerdGamer88 hehe naah. i don't think it's him :P but he's a perfect look-a-like

  • @vvladdy amen brother xD

  • i liked it

  • please , some one has to tell me what kind of roses are those in 0:07 , i need to know them , please help me writing them to me , pleaaaaaase !

  • WHY IS HE NOT ON TV ANYMORE WAAAAAAAA

  • he is amizing looooooooooooool

  • Long live the muscle car!!! LOL.

  • nice

  • Yup yall are definetly coming on to something.

  • Tomatoes will be Like Dinosaurs too... "the New FOSSIL FUELS"

  • JUICY TOMATOES!

  • I think they should just do the 6mi greenhouse. Of course you'll need a very big engine to tow that, so I recommend lifting the motor out of a supertanker and using that! What could possibly go wrong?

  • Why couldn't they get the greenhouse that uses the plasicboard instead?

  • check your facts smart ass...lol

  • @Calogero211 its called a catalytic converter u dumbass

  • What shirt is Richard wearing?

  • I heard that 102 people are thinking that they are breathing CO2

  • It's an interesting proposal, we in chemistry use molecular sieves to absorb any water in our compounds we synthesise, there is potential for molecular sieves to exist to capture carbon dioxide, if at all it contributes to global warming.

  • amusing but a waste of time. oh! thats what tv is! lol

  • For the most impractical man.........in the world that's not a bad idea.

  • lol

  • I, for one, am impressed.

  • wow

  • TAKE YOUR FUTURE AND SHOVE IT. YOU ARE ARE DUMB, FOOL A RANGE ROVER IS A PIECE OF SHIT

  • fuckin freak.................

  • I think I know whats happening here,

tail pipe on the right is under more pressure since it has to go through the rocks and the other one doesn't (sort of like blowing through your Tshirt its possible but harder, so instead all the fumes are coming from the other tail pipe and nothing coming out from the rock box thing, its like water (takes the easiest route), and instead of getting 50% and 50% from both tail pipes he's getting 0% from the right hand one and 100% from the lefthand one

  • Comment removed

  • @pixelsblack You got point but what if that V8 engine has separate exhaust pipes for both 4 cylinders? I'm not sure about it tho, some cars have exhaust like that and some don't. But it actually looks like the pipes coming from the exhaust to that box thing might not have any air flow in it, look how wrinkled they are.

  • @siimp2 Yeah you could be right about that not sure how the exhaust in the jag is hooked up, also if you look at the right hand exhaust once the car has been fired up it seems to smoke quite a lot maybe its delivering the exhaust emission load from its own pipe plus the load that the other pipe is supposed to be emitting. this should have been done on a car with a single exhaust!

  • Never say never I say.....I'm sure the most brilliant minds in this world got heckled too.

  • FUCK HAHAHA just think of cleaning all that glass piece on the track lol

  • what a moron! I mean he is funny and I love top gear...but.....LOL

  • BBC red herring, we all know that "global warming is a con to bring in the carbon tax. one volcano emits far more co2 in one ejection than than all humans and their vehicles combined over a year and 100s of volcanoes under the sea are pumping out co2 daily. the sun is the only driving force behind all temperature fluctuations on our planet to say as government leaders would have us believe that the sun has no affect on the temperature of our planet is beyond insane.

  • @boosomentity But you have to realize that a lot of carbon dioxide also comes from humans, not manmade carbon dioxide. According to a recent study, humans produce over 29 gigatones of CO2, which are absorbed into the ocean.

  • @ArcanineKing i don't dispute that we contribute a lot of carbon dioxide in to our atmosphere, but in comparison to what the earth pumps out it's a mere spec. my main point is that co2 is not an issue. co2 is not a poison; algae and plant life feeds on the stuff. Al Gore said we would have parts of the world flooded; that hasn't happened, nor has our planet actually been warming up which is why the authorities changed i"global warming" to "climate change" something that has always been.

  • @ArcanineKing you know that many scientists researching polar ice say that it's reforming. wikileaks released leaked emails on the lead scientist instructing colleagues on how to manipulate data in order to hide the fact that the earth has been cooling. many claim co2 levels are lower now than they have ever been. Al Gore; champion of this movement stands to gain personally from the tax he had put forth. co2 is no threat but gm crops are yet there is no coverage from the BBC on that; why!!?.

  • @boosomentity I guess you're one of those people who didn't think the sun was also responsible for the climate change. And I've also noticed it has become colder and hotter in several decades, but that's just the natural cycle in temperatures. We've still to see any significant change in our climate as the sea continues to absorb all the CO2. Most of the CO2 will remain in the water until it's reformed into ice. Hence, the caps at the north pole.

    Wikileaks? I wouldn't bet they're 100% acc.

  • Once again, Jeremy's brilliance shines through with a clever, yet still in-development way to do things better.

  • :)))))))))

  • @eyado0o07 yea.

  • 100 aliens breath on CO2

  • @InvinceZxFTW or are tomato plants

  • Throw the second pipes there are no gases at all (also co2), because its blocked by big density of salt (like a wall).

  • FUCKING LOL

  • Range Rover is a bit old car.

  • fucking retards!
