This is interesting. Youve really got something. I would suggest not trying to re-create the vocals, but simply "improvising" in the general tone of each stanza. I would go so far as to say that if you could apply the technique i speak about successfully on this track, why not search for some long-forgotten original piece from the eighties, digitize the bassline, and do the same thing. Call it your own, and send it out... Well done, and Good luck! You could be the next Satriani : )
